After 11 years, I still get lost in Eugene! It is about that size! LOL

And when I go up to where Scandi lives, I need a guide!!!

I drive to Salem once a month to visit a friend. Thank god she lives just off the highway a few turns.. or I'd never make it to her house. That city freaks me out.. lol

Hey, I hate it here and plan to get out. )Aurora, CO seems nice, such a pretty name.)

And my fiancee, born and raised in a village of 366 people, absolutely loathes this place.

ETA: And according to what I just looked up we are actually packed in like sardines. The city is 35 miles and there are almost 130,000 people here.

To make this post seem on topic: Honestly, I can't get the feel for the small town atmosphere without asking about it. Places like McCleary, I know nothing about, because here there are things that are simply a fact of life that aren't in small towns. Around here, if you hear someone scream, you ignore it, after a while, you just don't hear it anymore. Same for the sirens, the running city joke being that if you need the sirens to go to sleep, you've lived here too long.
So if it seems like I ask stupid questions about the small town atmosphere, it's because I have never experienced it.

Now SALEM is where I would expect a child to be in GRAVE danger! That place is easy to get lost in AND has a LOT of crime! <quiver!>

Goodnight sleuthers...I'm gonna go and pray for Lindsey and get some sleep.

I didn't mean to imply that you guys were being stupid. I know everyone has a different idea of what "small towns" and "big cities" are. To me small town = less than 5000 people. Big city = 5001+

I think Tumwater has a big city feeling to it because it runs right with Olympia. You can't tell when you have gone from one city to the other. There are small signs but unless you are paying close attention you don't notice them. Capial Blvd runs through Tumwater into downtown Olympia (which is only maybe 5 miles from downtown Tumwater). To most people it's one big city so much so that the area is often referred to "Olympia" instead of Tumwater.

Even google maps refers to the address where this attempted abduction was reported as "Olympia."

Lacey and Tumwater are joined together by Olympia. As stated before, it's hard to tell where one ends and the other begins. They are sister cities for sure and when you put all three together, you get a bigger city feel.

Yes, I certainly do know you talked about that. Remember: I posted something regarding the city I used to live in a few years back that tween, teen girls were being lured in a mall and kidnapped for prostitution.

Also rape is an initiation for many gangs.
:silenced:
I'm guessing there's not a gang unit with McCleary PD.
Maybe they should call in the bikers. Those guys love kids. They could do a poker run, and check on all the SOs, and the tweakers.

That's bold, to try to take a child like that. Crazy. Three of them? Somebody has to have seen something.

Are there Spanish-language newspapers locally? Do they know to look for Lindsey?

Hi Haddie, I called information and got the # for the FBI office in Olympia. Called it and they said I had reached the Olympia office which was closed and if an emergency, please call the Seattle office and gave the #.[/B]

So they have agents there but it is probably a small office and I would guess they maybe work with Federal cases on government land, like the pot growers and all that stuff.

There were 6 agents called to McCleary tho and some of those guys might have been from Olympia. We know at least one was the hauncho from Seattle and he probably had a cohort. I thought I read too they brought in specialists in missing children.

You know shmo, like we see on my very favorite show of all time,CRIMINAL MINDS. :blowkiss:

scandi Were you needing a 24hr hotline where you can leave a message on a tip for Lindsey?

If it's not for Lindsey, but on the 14yr old girl, I would still call the 24hr tip line since LE feels the 2 cases might be related! You never know it could lead them to helping get some sick monsters off of the streets. It could save the next little girl from at least these pinks! JMHO

Here is the info:

A new voicemail extension has also been created at the sheriff’s office for accepting tips after hours, he said. Anyone with information can contact the office at (360) 249-3711, if after hours, dial 543.

The Tumwater/Olympia attempted-abduction stories were just one incident. (Note the address of where it happened in both articles.)

I think maybe what happened was the attempted abduction happened in Olympia, but she reported it to the Tumwater police.

Capitol Blvd and Dennis is very close to Tumwater, and Olympia has large areas of unincorporated county. Those areas are covered by either the city of Olympia or the city of Tumwater. The attempted abduction was in the Tumwater polices jurisdiction.

Tacoma has a gang unit. They will be able to share any information they have about anything like this going on in the area, or ID any known gangmembers if visible in surveillance video.

We do not have spanish papers or radio locally to my knowledge. On the other side of the mountains I am sure there are some.

This is a different case and was caught on video to some extent. It is a 30 minute drive between Tumwater and Tacoma, and is a very common commute. There is a military base between Tacoma and Tumwater.

A woman grabbed a gate and started screaming, scaring away a man who attempted to abduct her Wednesday on Tacoma’s East Side, police said.
Police spokesman Mark Fulghum said the woman, 18, was walking to a bus stop about 7:20 a.m. Wednesday when a man came up behind her, grabbed her and tried to pull her into a wooded area near East 40th Street and Pipeline Road.
She held tightly to a metal gate and started screaming, Fulghum said.
“After a brief struggle, he let go and fled,” Fulghum said.
The woman wasn’t able to get a good look at the man and there were no witnesses, Fulghum said.
There have been no other reported abduction attempts in the area recently, he said.

Lakewood police have released a sketch of a man suspected in an attempted kidnapping of a 13-year-old girl Wednesday.
The teen was approached about 4 p.m. as she got off the bus at 40th Avenue Southwest and 100th Street Southwest, police reported.
She said two men pushed her to the ground, grabbed her arm and tried to pull her into a car. She broke free and ran to a nearby business for help.
The attack remained under investigation Friday.
The girl told police she didn’t recognize the men. She described them as in their 20s and dressed in black. She said they were in a newer, white Chrysler 300 with flashy rims.
She worked with a sketch artist on a drawing of the driver.
Police ask anyone with information about the men to call the department at 253-830-5000.

Girl reports attempted abduction in Northeast Tacoma

Tacoma police are investigating a report that a man tried to abduct a 14-year-old girl as she walked home from school Monday afternoon. The girl told police a man approached her near the On the Green apartment complex in the 4900 block of Fairwood Boulevard Northeast about 4:45 p.m.

He held something sharp to her stomach and threatened to hurt her if she didn't go with him, police spokesman Mark Fulghum said.
The girl said she kicked the man and ran home, where her mother called 911.
"What the guy had in mind, we don't know for sure," Fulghum said.
The girl said the man is white, in his 30s, about 5 feet 8 inches tall with a thin build and long brown hair. He was wearing black clothing.
Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call the Tacoma Police Department at 253-798-4721

Watch the story
TACOMA, Wash. -- Police here say two men who witnessed an attempted abduction of young girls couldn't just sit and watch, or even wait for the law.

The incident took place on Saturday afternoon in the 500 block of South L Street. A 5-year-old girl said she was standing outsider her home when a complete stranger grabbed her and her friend.

"(I) scratched him," she said.

The man wanted the pair to have sex with him, the girl said.

"He was trying to make us go to his house and go to bed," she said. "He said it to my sister, too."

But before the man could take the girls away, nearby kids who had seen what had happened began screaming at the man until he finally let the girls go.

One of the kids then ran home and told his mom about the incident while a neighbor called 911. Before police arrived, however, two strangers pounced on the man.

The two men, who had been sitting in a parked truck down the street, had witnessed the incident, investigators said. The men grabbed the accused man and beat him, then fled before police arrived. The men's identities are not known.

Police arrested Billy Joe Shank, 45, in an alley behind Tacoma General Hospital. He was bloodied and bruised, they said.

Shank has been booked into jail under suspicion of attempted abduction.

No children were injured.

Is it news to you that there is are serial kidnapping attempts going on locally? It is completely news to me.

Ok... and?

Children have been known to make up stories like this before. I have a hard time believing this story and maybe I'll be proven wrong. If so, I'll say I was wrong. But until then I say it's a story for attention. I can not believe not one single person saw anything on a very busy four lane road in front of State buildings in broad daylight.

Hi Jennifer, I understand what you're saying, like the girl I wrote about back a few pages who played abductee and had almost every cop in Clackamas County looking for her! She wanted to disappear for a awhile as she had a life crisis of some sort.

I did watch the video of this gal today and she didn't seem starstruck for attention or a drama queen at all. She seemed quite down to earth and very soft spoken.

We'll see as things like that all come out in the wash, so to speak. xox

Gotta love: Angel Who Cares :blowkiss:

Thank You So Much concentric

I do what I do cause I'm an angel who cares! :wink:

O/T: The other reason any case tugs at my heart (in a round about way) is, that when my neice was around 2 yrs old....(maybe closer to 3yrs old since my sister was potty training her at the time) my sisiter & b-i-l hired a babysitter, after interviewing her many times(both went to the interview). She even had references for my sister to call, which she did do.

This lady if you can call her that, (I can't she's a :curses:!) around into 2 1/2 weeks of babysitting my neice, called my sister at work....told her that my neice was semi-conscious & having a hard time breathing........she didn't call 911 for my neice she called my sister!!! :furious:

My sister for some reason raced to the house...it was less than 5minutes from where she worked.
This monster claimed my neice was asleep on her couch& rolled off the couch & that's how she got hurt is when she landed on the floor. This b**** drove with my sister to the hospital ER & left without even staying. Our ER had to airlift her to Childrens Hospital into the ICU.

It was found that my neice had injuries = to falling off of a 3 story building or being thrown at a wall several x's, she had a brain bleed, swelling of the brain, shaken eye syndrome, & rugh burns on parts of her body. The DCS took custody of neice from my sister & her family until they checked out their home etc. They did clear them right away of any wrong doing etc. They at least did allow my sister to stay with her in the ICU.

To make my now long story short.....LE said they knew that this woman was responsible for her injuries, but because no one was in the home old enough to be a witness they didn't have enough proof to charge her.

This b**** when questioned claimed that my neice was acting strange when she was dropped of & that my sister probably hurt her before dropping her off that morning! :furious:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have never told this about my neice here till now. I guess I wanted some to understand where my drive comes from in helping in anyway I can. The media is a much needed tool at WS's to gather as many facts possible along with all of wonderful sleuthing.
Our main goal is to hopefully find Lindsey & I'm sure LE reads on many of our cases here, I know with the brilliant brain storming, so many of you do, that they often find something that was posted that helps them in a case!
I apologize for the long story....it's close to 5AM & not thinking to clearly. :bedtime: It just upsets me when any child is missing, abused, or murdered! :( They all need to found & all the perp's caught & thrown in jail forever....throwing the key away for life!
Praying that today brings Lindsey home.
I am trying to think of a pitbull reporter that would latch onto this now that the dots are real close together.
