Found Deceased WA - Lucian Munguia, 4, Sarge Hubbard Park play area, last seen 7:15pm, Yakima, 10 Sept 2022

Any idea on the distance from the park he was last seen at?
There is a mention of no clothing?

What does this mean?

So curious about the distance, as well. And 'near the river'? As in not having been in the river at all? It will be extra tragic if he perished due to the elements and not even drowning, I feel like. That would mean he was missed by searchers or the search didn't reach to where he may have wandered to.

The 'no clothing', I believe, is what Mom was quoted as saying regarding the mysterious facts around his disappearance. Not as he was found yesterday.

Some rivers rise and fall. Maybe he was on a higher bank.

This this is so sad. His poor parents, sleeping at the park in cars during the beginning of the search.

I'm anxious to know this too. Looking at Google maps I can't see where there's any water at the park that connects to the river.
I smell something funny here . I remember reading something when this happened that was making the searchers and or LE question everything surrounding the initial reports by the family.

The big step back started when LE publicly announced there was a video that showed Lucian walking a certain direction (Toward the river), then some time later they admitted there was never any video of that exactly, but a video that showed that he couldn't have walked toward the road since he didn't show up on a specific camera. But that threw a big wrench in their trust for LE especially since this could have meant all the searching they did plus all the volunteers that volunteered diving and with drones could have been searching the wrong area all along. It also opened the door for possible abduction.

I don't know how to post maps on here, but seems like it is Burke Rd, Washington 98951 Looking right above it, there is a dam right there, so he might have got caught and was just waiting for someone to come by. He had to go through a lot of little twists and turns poor baby.
ETA I think they just had a bunch of snow/ice storms too so maybe he had been caught elsewhere and with the snow pack melting a bit was pushed further down stream.

According to the Yakima County coroner, five-year-old Lucian Munguia died from drowning.

DEC 31, 2022
An autopsy determined that Lucian was the victim of an accidental drowning in the river and that there was no evidence of foul play, Yakima County Coroner Jim Curtice said Friday.

Children are drawn to water! Why? I don’t know. I was drawn to water as a child and still am these many years later. This case was messed up in the beginning with the ‘video that wasn’t there’. Which made everyone mistrust LE. I must say the LE in this town desperately needs some retraining. Poor child. Peace be to his family.

The vigil, which drew more than 100 community members, is the first public event honoring Lucian, who was found drowned in the Yakima River on Dec. 29 after a monthslong search involving first responders, family, friends and community volunteers.

Pastor Jim Beattie said the gathering was not a memorial service for the boy who has touched the hearts of many through the community and country, but a showing of support for parents Juan and Sandra Munguia and their family.

The family lovingly called Lucian, Shushin, and Shushi.

There were signs at the celebration of life that said we love you Shushin.

Sandra Munguia, Lucian’s mother politely declined to talk because she said she’s still grieving and wants to focus on her family.

Amy Bailey Lucian’s aunt wrote a poem for Lucian the pastor read as he was hosting the ceremony.

“Little fish stretch your eyes, we’ll see you one day in the skies. You have all the ocean to be free, as we rest your soul forever in the sea,” a line from the poem the pastor read.

Lucian loved fish and could tell you what each species of fish was.

There wasn’t a dry eye in the church.
