Why would you think this Greydiggity? I'm asking sincerely.... why the mom's bf? Why not the dad's gf? I'm not seeing a connection here and I'm wondering why everyone else seems too

That is a great question. My response would be I just ASSUMED this was done by a male. BUT, the fact that she was ALLEGEDLY not raped could mean it was a girl. Honestly, I have suspected this was the mom's BF from the get go. I studiously came to the conclusion (!) that there was a drug deal. (now that we hear of the boat launch area, I am even more convinced of that) I know from all accounts she seems like a VERY good girl. Smart, friendly, happy, beautiful, etc. BUT sometimes when you peel back the layers, you get the real truth about someone. I think she got herself involved in some not so great activities. I think they waited to release this stuff until after her memorial to keep her perfect portrait. (In NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM am I disrespecting her or her family) JMHUMBLEO!

Greygiggity, I agree wholeheartedly! I was 17 once. EXAMPLE: If I wanted to go pick up a bag of weed I would grab my cell and debit card (maybe my gas card if I thought I might need to kick in some gas money for a drive), go down to river to meet my dealer. I may not have called my mom, dad, or bf to let them know either. OR another exmple, folks meet at the river for other reasons like, to "make out" or meet to go somewhere else to do it. If she was not with her bf, it could be that she did not tell anyone for OBVIOUs reasons.
The riverfront maybe where they met orginally (or were going to meet. Maybe there was too many people there at that time.), and the went somewhere more remote or SAFE to park her car and then to somewhere else (house(s)) that were KNOWN by anyone close to real estate to be unoccupied and PRIVATE.......REMEMBER; When your 17 you can't just sit at your parents house to do these things. Back in our day, there were more rural places to park. Wenatchee has been built out over the last 2 decades. Not a lot of places to "park" anymore.

I was just using examples incorporating my significant real estate knowledge and my colorful youth background. This in NOWAY means she was not a SUPER young woman, as I KNOW she was!!!!! She is at an experimental age. We have all done it!!

shortstuff, i'm wondering what it is you know about the mom's bf. i know him personally, and like i've said many times on this post i do not believe he should be a suspect. however that doesn't mean that people don't change and/or have out of character moments....which of course i truly hope and pray is not the case.

I am wondering why nobody here has figured out the mom's bf name? (or initials). I do know them, but I have just registered and I do not want to do something "wrong". Also, I am not sure why anyone has not mentioed what he does for a living..... key in my opinion. Does anyone know if they are still together or recently broke up? And why?

I posted the initials a couple days ago and they were flagged and removed by a user who knows him so I wasn't going to repost them, but I did have another post that says what he does for a living. no one seemed to say anything about that. anyways I haven't posted much and I don't want to make it seem like I am accusing anyone or giving info I shouldn't. Those two facts just seemed like things people were asking about alot.

edit-- I just looked and my post about what the moms boyfriend was does for a living was deleted too. no wonder no one mentioned it. I can't figure out what I'm saying wrong in my posts for them to be deleted.

Has anyone else noticed that if you go to the Manson Village Tribune site the Sheriff's Media Report records for the date that M's body was found have been pulled?? It would've been the 2-14-10 record (because they show the previous days reports/calls) but the dates go from 2-13-10 and then don't show up again until 2-17-10.

wengirl - I don't know why your posts were deleted. But the rules are that we do not name people or really discuss them unless they are named in the media or by LE. The boyfriends have not been named, have not appeared in any LE press releases or in any media - so they are off limits for now.

The reason for this is because we are a victim friendly forum, for the most part and it is important not to invade the privacy of those that may be close to the victim but are completely innocent of any wrong doing.

If some of our suspicions turn out to be correct, the media will eventually have some kind of report and name the individuals. When that happens, then we can discuss them freely. Until then, anything you learn has to be kept off WS.

I hope this helps.

I saw that someone recently asked if MC dad has a girlfriend or wife. If you go to the WW article about her memorial there are pictures. I viewed these yesterday and the first thing that struck me was that there is a close up photo of MC dad fiance with a caption of her name.

Normally I wouldn't think anything of this, in fact, I would expect it. What I just don't understand is why we are seeing close up personal photos of her and none of moms bf. We can't even know his name, occupation or initials, yet we have photos of dads fiance. Maybe I am reading too much into it but just strange to me. Anyway, if anyone missed it or would like to check out the photo I will post the link. Hope this is ok. I thought it would be since it was in the paper already.

I imagine this is standard when there is an ongoing investigation. If you see a 911 report that says "female found on shore line with a lacerated something or other, or missing something", now the public is aware of the state of the body which I am pretty sure they are trying to keep from us! (and doing A VERY GOOD JOB!) frustrating, mind you!

I should add that in no way is this anything I have heard...

Is that not her Dad? or did you mean the man infront of him? You have good eyes!

Thanks Hopeful - I did go and look at all those calls. Some I found very interesting, hmmmmm...

And yes, the 13th and 14th are missing.

I have never seen that happen before, actually. Usually, once it is printed, it is printed. In my opinion, it is rare for a media site to remove information unless it is wrong. Just another indication that you all live in a tight knit community.

I can't imagine the LA times or a large Seattle paper withholding public information. However, those papers are so big, they don't print logs to begin with

Did anyone ever see the log from that day, or was it never made public? I guess it could give up a slew of pertinent details to the case. It would have mentioned as well who really discovered the body.

The man with his hands in his pocket, dark browm and tan colored jacket. I was going over the pics and links this morning and I saw the sketch and found the pics of memorial and I saw him and it just stood out to me.

I never was able to find it from the begining! I remember when the link was first posted and I never saw the call for them finding her.

I was looking through the call logs and on 2/26 someone called that they found a cell phone behind Safeway. It wasn't hers. But I am wondering if the call is the reason they posted a more "updated" post of her phone.

That would be her father.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but is that man not Mackenzie's dad? Just going by the captions with the pics...

Mackenzie Cowell's brother, Colby Cowell, kisses his mother, Wendy Cowell, as they enter the memorial service at the Town Toyota Center in Wenatchee on Thursday. At far left is Mackenzie's father, Reid Cowell.

Just curious, does anyone know what Mackenzie's dad does for a living? Thanks.

Would the 911 call made from the person who found her gone to Grant County? If I remember correctly a Grant County officer was the first to respond and then contacted Douglas County.
