Bumping for Nancy ... Nothing new :(

  • #262
We still know so little about *Nancy* ... What made her tick? Was she a free spirit, was she a homebody, was she lonely and seeking company, who did she talk to about her personal life and the intimate details only close friends share?

She went to the store after she was dropped off from work Friday right? Did she attract someone's attention that night? Did they follow her home, drive on by and then circle back later, creating some excuse to knock on her door? Get her outside and then grab her? The one thing that bothers me about this is the lack of a scuffle. It either completely happened outside or it was someone she knew.

Me too Gaia, I waver between someone known to her and a stranger. Wish we knew more about the married co-worker.
=====

From my reading about Nancy and this case, her life was mostly her children, her work, her family.
Co workers have posted that they knew she was dating. She had a date on Sat. with a co worker.
That co worker has said she never showed for the date.

Nancy drove a different co worker home that Friday night.
She stopped at the grocery store in town on her way home.
That was the last time she was seen.
She had poured a glass of wine, the tv was on,
the living room light and her bedroom light were on.
Her cigarettes were on the front porch where she kept them.
She always smoked outside.
She last spoke to her sister the night before.
No one heard from her that weekend.
On Sun. evening when her husband brought their two girls back to her, her door was found open, and the setting was as described above.
Her car was parked in front of her house.
She did not have a cell phone or a computer.

There was a lot of suspicion directed at the co worker she took home after work, but he has not been considered a suspect by police.

My thinking is that someone had watched her and then just
took that moment to abduct her.

Hoping she is found soon.

Dreamweaver (or anyone who might know the answer) -

Have just re-read all the posts about Nancy, but I might have overlooked this info. You say she was last seen "at the grocery store .... on her way home" on Fri. night. So - when did her ex-husb. pick up the girls ---- Fri. evening after Nancy came home from the store, or did he pick up the girls and then Nancy went back out to the grocery store, or had the girls gone to their Dad's prior to Fri. or ????
Just trying to pinpoint, for sure, when she was last seen and by whom. Thanks.

I believe he picked up the girls at childcare, he did not see Nancy that Friday. Grocery store was the last seen.

OK, Knox. I missed that. Thanks.

That is right.
Nancy just dropped off the coworkerat his home
and then stopped by the grocery store.
That verified by a check she cashed there.

I feel so sad for Nancy's girls and family, I'm sure this time of year is doubly hard for them. From what I've read she did not have a risky lifestyle and she was taken from her own home. She had no known enemies, was stable in her life. It's just plain scary what happened to Nancy. I agree with you dreamweaver, I think someone had been watching her ...

I think of Nancy nearly every single day.
For me, there was something about a single mom, good job, quiet life
and then taken. Suddenly.

Dear Friends,

I apologize that it has been so long since I last communicated with you. I have had a killer work schedule the last several months and I am finding the holidays difficult this year. Nancy weighs heavily on my mind and I can only imagine what her family is facing this holiday season.

First, I owe each of you a huge debt of gratitude for your help in trying to locate Nancy Moyer. Searching for Nancy has not been an easy task. I thank each and every one of you for donating your valuable time in helping with the searches. I also thank those who have helped with fund raising efforts. I never realized how difficult it is to do this type of activity especially in light of the economic hard times we have all been facing this past year. You are all amazing!!

We have raised over $3,000 to date and will be giving that money to Nancy’s mother who has indicated she wants to put it in a college fund for Nancy’s daughters. We are discussing future fund raising options for the upcoming year, but have nothing concrete set at this time.

We have searched north, east, and west of Tenino, but haven’t done any searching south. I have four locations south of Tenino mapped out that I would like to search in January/February. For safety reasons, I would like to search these four areas as a group and not spread out like we have done in the past. Weather permitting, I hope to get things organized so we can go out on January 16, 23, or 30. I will let you know via email and hope you can join us.

Looking back on this year, I only have one word that describes it for me…surreal. I never dreamed last Christmas the events that would unfold that would forever change my life and the lives of so many others. On the up-side, I have met so many amazing people (each of you) who constantly remind me how powerful the human spirit is.

Please have a safe holiday. Take care of each other.

Bev

Hi Knox, I hadn't really read about Nancy until lately and got the impression she was outside when someone took her. Not inside the house although home. Does that make sense? I don't even know why I mention that feeling I had. It might mean nothing.

It is plum scary I agree, what happened to Nancy. I heard again last night on Criminal Minds that the window of opportunity to find an abduction victim alive is the first 36 hours. That drops to 1 to 3 hours for a child. They also mentioned the difference between the hope in finding a victim alive and then what is false hope. I guess what it all boils down to is recognizing the most accurate possibility in order to assist in locating the victim sooner, due the the time they have been gone. The real world of Sleuthing, whether we like it or not. xox

Hi Miss Scandi ... Dreamweaver is really the fact person in this case. So I would like to hear what her opinion is on whether Nancy was taken from inside the house or from outside. Couple of things we do know.

  1. The front door was ajar.
  2. A single glass of wine was on the coffee table and the TV was on.
  3. She smoked outside on the front porch, not inside the home.
  4. Her purse and keys were inside the home.
  5. No sign of a struggle anywhere in or outside the home.
I have never heard that there were any clues which indicated whether she was taken Friday or Saturday night.

A possible theory; someone knocked on her door or saw her on the front porch. They posed a question or otherwise approached her and she was taken in a manner that left no signs of a struggle. Could someone have followed her from the store she stopped at on the way home from work? This case is a little similar to Lindsey Baum's case, Nancy literally disappeared with no trace.

Knox, what I can imagine happening is someone approached her with a dire need for help, either to benefit Nancy or himself. If she went against her will there would be signs of that, right? If he told her a relative was in trouble, on their way to the hospital or this man said his little girl had just disappeared and would she please help as time was of the essence. Scenarios like that would have the result we are faced with, gone without a trace and no evidence of a struggle. Just thinkin' xox

After more thought, I think someone came to her door and she was called outside. The person might have faked a traumatic scenario and she felt bound to help him.

All good thoughts Scandi ... If only we knew.
I did a quick google search, before writing this post. No recent stories in the news.
I have often wondered why her family is not out in the media keeping Nancy's case
at the forefront. IIRC someone stated they were very private, this was long ago in the beginning. I believe she has parents and a sister in Washington.

My thoughts go out to her two girls, this was their first Christmas with out their Mother.

goombah: Bev,
Nice to hear from you!
I don't know why but I thought Nancy would be found within a few months. And then I thought, in the summer, when everyone is out and about, then in the fall, when there are hunters out, but, no not yet.
I appreciate all that you do for your friend Nancy.

I don't know that I am the fact person about Nancy Moyer, but
I have been interested in her case since the beginning.
One of those cases that draws you in.

But IMO, I think Nancy was outside the house and by outside,
probably on the front porch.
She either was already outside or opened the door to someone.
Nancy is a very small petite woman. I think any man
could just pick her up and disappear with her.

There were no signs of stuggle reported inside or outside the house.
The house looked like she should be just in the other room.

Signs that pointed to Fri. night abduction:
She had a date Sat. She did not show for it.
After looking at evidence and all the searches, police felt it was most lilely probably Fri. night.
I talked to the detective in charge twice.
I do not know why LE felt Friday for sure, but I can speculate
that maybe her work clothes were in the hamper or there was no evidence of dinner Fri. night, or ues, dinner Fri., but no breakfast, lunch or dinner for Sat.

----
Family was very active in the beginning. Nancy's sister and husband Bill
both were on nationwide tv shows, gave interviews to local media.
And I think family has been quoted as saying, they just could not do a search...thinking they would find her body...
Her parents, her sister, her husband and daughters all live in WA.

Goombah, poster, is a co worker of Nancy's and has spearheaded searches for Nancy.

Thank you for recapping Dreamweaver.
God bless Bev for all her efforts to help find Nancy.
We should all be so lucky to have someone who cares so deeply.
If I lived closer I would be out there helping in those searches.

As to when she was taken from her home could they not have done cultures on the wine to see how long ago it had been poured? I know this isnt CSI Miami but that would of been a simple test with one of the only pieces of evidence and important in a possible murder investagation.
Wine grows stuff in it and by testing the amount of stuff grown in it they could tell how long it sat there asuming she was drinking it and didnt pour it and let it sit. Now she sips it and goes to smoke or doesnt sip it and goes to smoke redwine would either be on the butt or not though transfer taking out the asumption of her consuming the wine. or reinforcing the theroy she went to the door to answer it. Right?

LE has never released any information about testing done at the house. The house was searched forensically four times.

Friends of Nancy Moyer will be conducting a search south of Tenino on Saturday, January 23, 2010. We will meet at the Tenino City Park located at 309 Park Street, Tenino Washington, at 9:30 a.m.

Please be prepared for inclement weather. Boots and waterproof clothing is desirable.

It has been several months since our last search for Nancy. We have spent the summer/fall conducting fund raising activities because the grasses and leaves were so thick it made searching dangerous. However, with winter here in full force, we now have accessibility to areas of interest that we have not searched before.

Thank you in advance to everyone who is able to help. The giving of your time is an amazing gift and I am so appreciative for all you have done since we began this quest.
