Me neither!! This is getting excessive!! I have been unable to find any articles on this case - maybe a local or someone in the U.S. could find something - and WHY this keeps getting reset....

Here’s a case where the judge finally said “enough” after four years of the defendant’s behavior causing attorneys to quit. It’s supposed to go to trial next week. We’ll see.

A woman accused of killing her boyfriend by zipping him inside a suitcase is set to return to court this morning.

WINTER PARK, Fla. — A woman accused of killing her boyfriend by zipping him inside a suitcase is set to return to court this morning.

Orange County deputies said Sarah Boone and Jorge Torres were drunk when she put him in the bag during a game of hide-and-seek in their Winter Park apartment in February 2020.

Investigators said cellphone video shows Boone taunting Torres while he struggled to breathe.

The amended motion filed by Owens today doesn't add any case law or legal authority under which to ask for this motion to be granted. He doesn't seem to be very good at this, IMO!

Is he deliberately setting her up to appeal on the basis of an incompetent defense?

Can you believe this??!! It does say only the hearing was continued - but I bet the trial is cancelled for the 30th time!?!!
I shall keep an eye out to see IF the trial is going to be cancelled. Docket still shows trial on 1/13/25.

I just saw this case for the first time. I looked, just like @Niner, for any news at all and couldn't find a thing. This is simply unbelievable. As others have said, earliest reports seem to indicate Svetlana Laurel shot her daughter at point blank range after securing her with zip ties?

How can it be that her lawyers and/or the system (?)has lead to so many continuances over the last five plus years?!! The court needs to put a stop to this, whatever 'this' is. If she is pleading NG and or won't take a deal, get her tried and convicted!

How on earth do her family, father and brother feel about this. Her little brother was twelve when his mum murdered his sister. Now he must be 17 going on 18 years old. He must be so confused as to why the justice system hasn't yet held his mother accountable. I feel for this young man. What a situation.

Shame on her lawyers and the court and the prosecution for their individual roles in delaying this trial. What the actual...

@jepop - Hopefully!! the trial WILL start on 2/25/25 - but I am not holding out hope....
The court site doesn't give much info on the delays - and as you said no current articles explaining WHY!!
