hey this is kind of atrocious... I'm genuinely scared for this poor girl.
that verdict was a big win for both parents. Even IA's attorney was shocked. I am thinking that there was at least one juror very sympathetic to the father and maybe even agreed with the idea of his right to do this as she was "disrespecting" himI doubt we'll hear from any jurors.
I totally get ZA not being found guilty with attempted murder and attempted kidnapping and it being a stretch during deliberations and her attorney did give the jurors much to ponder about her actions which the jury ran with.
Not so with the father.
imo
wow..I missed a lot due to audio issues in the court.it was said in court as his attorney was trying to get him released today.
My mind races to frightening places thinking about him and her being free. You know I am not even interested in what this jury would have to say. I doubt if they will speak anyway.. In my estimation there was some real compromise going on and 4th is the best they could get. No respect for this jury. Mr. Ali has real anger issues and his belief system is going to drive him to do more damage. As someone else pointed out...can you imagine when he is released and how much anger he now has for Fatima...he does not think he did anything wrong.
I never want to hear they were hung on the 2nd degree charges for either of them and those that wanted a guilty vote eventually folded to not have a hung jury on those charges. You know I am not even interested in what this jury would have to say. I doubt if they will speak anyway.. In my estimation there was some real compromise going on and 4th is the best they could get. No respect for this jury. I don't know if the judge 'tied their hands', because I saw no shortage of evidence that the man was trying to kill his daughter.wow..I missed a lot due to audio issues in the court.
I'm going to look for it.
That should then come in when mitigating his sentence and work against it and hopefully the judge gives him the most time that possible,
It's mindboggeling why his prior abuse wasn't allowed in as evidence and did the judge tie the states hands with prohibiting evidence?
imo
According to CourtTV it was 9 men and 3 women. (Why doesn't that add up to 12? Isn't the jury 12 people in Washington?)My mind races to frightening places thinking about him and her being free.
You're right, this jury gave them a legal pass.
I heard today that there was 7 men and 4 women on the jury.
imo
My brain is fried.According to CourtTV it was 9 men and 3 women. (Why doesn't that add up to 12? Isn't the jury 12 people in Washington?)
If you think IA was 'mad' that his daughter was dating a boy and ran away because she didn't want to go overseas....just how mad do you think he is now, that she put him in jail, and tried to get him in prison for years? The 'shame' that he must feel will be boiling over when he is finally released, IMO.
What a travesty
I was thinking about a defendant's past convictions and if they're applicable to their current charges and are sometimes let in by the judge.I don't know if the judge 'tied their hands', because I saw no shortage of evidence that the man was trying to kill his daughter.
It was a no-brainer, unless you believe that the state has no say in how you treat your children. I'm guessing that there were a few of those people on the jury and they bullied the rest of the jury into the verdict.
JMO.
I clearly believe that there were many good people on the jury and I thank them for doing the best that they could.
That would be a given that she has NO contact with FA who was the major victim and abide by the protective order with Isiah and the school.Question.....I know there is an order that ZA stay away from Isiah and the school but it there any order now that says she and her daughter cannot meet?
I'm curious if there's an Iraqi community where they live and if they are involved in it?Just walked back in time for this horrible verdict!!! I want to throw up! Does this jury know the
A's know no boundaries....every parent at that school should be terrified and enraged. I am!!
How interesting that you expected this.Sick of the coddling.
Fully expected from this part of Washington state.
I'd leave here if I could.
Was there a consensus on the judge?Unless I missed it Court TV sure disappeared quickly after the verdict...no post verdict commentary at all. I think this judge gonna be real easy on IA and he could back home by the end of the year.
