I don't know the first person, but I DO know Carl Derek Woracker personally... he was my first husband! I should know what he looks like!!! If anyone has any pertinent information about this case or any possible leads that are worth looking into, PLEASE let me know! I've been looking for Carl since I found out that he'd disappeared from my hometown (Spokane, WA) the beginning of June, 1998. I'd spoken to him via telephone a day or 2 prior to his disappearance while I was still in Ohio. I'm sure anyone can imagine how absolutely eerie it was to see his face (from a photo taken on our wedding day, no less!) plastered all over the internet on many websites for missing/endangered people all over the US! I honestly cried like a baby! I'm still in touch with his younger brother in London & his 15 yr old son that still lives in Spokane... & I know they'd like to know where he might be or any relevant indormation just as much as I would!

Woracker, 26, disappeared from Spokane, Washington on June 3, 1998. In April 2008, one of his shinbones was found in a wooded area near the Indian Canyon Driving Range. In July 2009, the second shinbone and both thighbones were found in another location in Spokane, not far from where Woracker's car had been abandoned. DNA testing identified the bones in October 2010. Little information is available in Woracker's death.

If the 2007 UID had thigh and shin bones missing his entry would likely say so and there might have been a DNA hit as well since DNA is available for Woracker.

I was looking at this UID case, and came up with Hans Harry Okelsrud

The UID is described as having
* a nose that "cants to the left at the root (between the eyes) and is much larger on his right hand side",
* a prominent brow ridge
* a crooked chin.

Hans appears to have a nose that skews left at the root and is larger on the right, and he definitely has a prominent brow ridge. He might also have an assymetrical chin, though it is not entirely clear from the photo.

And BTW, his age, height, and timeframe are all consistent.

I'm not sure how he would get from San Dimas CA to Redmond WA, but there is nothing inconsistent in the circumstances.

Detective Lon Shultz (the contact listed in DoeNet) is no longer with the department, and the woman who answers the phones there indicated that this case is currently not assigned to anyone else.

I would guess that makes it more than usually likely he was a gay man who was active as such in some way, either overtly or covertly. Pepper spray is a typical defensive weapon of someone who anticipates being first verbally and then physically harrassed on the street.

pepper spray is often carried by postal workers to ward off vicious dogs.

not sure of the geography/topography but if the guy hiked (not saying his clothing were suggestive of a hike on the d.o.d.) then he might have carried it for protection from wildlife.

Even ex mailcarrier would make sense, once you start expecting dogs around every corner pepper spray might seem sensible any time you leave your house.

I guess another possibility is that the pepper spray isn't definitive of his self defense strategy, he had other weapons but they were stripped from him during abduction? I'm thinking someone who works alone at night (watchman? cleaner? hotel night clerk?) with a big baton like torch and the pepper spray as a cheap, easy to carry backup (that wouldn't set police on edge quite like carrying a gun tends to) would be a possibility?

Edited to add: I've given it a bit of a think... and he was found without a shirt, right? Maybe it decomposed totally, but maybe the shirt had his employer's name on it and the killer took it off the body and threw it away in a different place, to make him more anonymous.

The sketch and description look like someone with plagiocephaly. It's the same cranial condition my daughter has. That got me thinking. Positional anterior and posterior plagiocephalies are sometimes seen in children adopted from foreign orphanages.

Not that I think it would be included in a NAMUS profile if someone was adopted or from where. Just throwing it out there in case it jogs something in anyone's memories about an open case.
