Is anyone watching KOMO 4 news at 4:00? (I'm workin... )

But the road she took down to the beach goes right up to houses - only a couple hundred feet away from where the van was found. I don't think that is accurate for with the stairs for that spot at least.

I can't understand how this would have happened with such a low tide.

It does not take much water, she very well could have fallen in the water.I think they were sleeping in the van, and awoke to the higher water. She falls, He tries to help her and it just got worse from there. Sad ending.

I also thought about the possibility of the body being placed there on purpose. I think that an autopsy should be able to show if there was a drowing or ???

Even though this is somewhat of an answer, it sure opens up even more questions. :(

FWIW:

Tragic news regardless of who it is. If it's the missing boy, this awful development makes even less sense. It was low tide when the van was driven onto the beach. That means that anything in the water should have gone south-west, not north. The tide should have pushed them towards the beach they were on. This spot on Fox Island is probably 20 miles north thru various passages. It should have been very easy to get out of the van and walk to safety if they were in good health when they drove onto the beach. It's looking less like an accident.

If there is a fall, would they have fallen into the water? Or would the water have come up to that point at high tide ?

I hope they do a toxicology on the boy; after having read his actions and reports, I wonder if he was being given alcohol during that drive.

Now this is odd...It says there is a t-shirt up around his head....I wonder if he did fall and that is why mom was pounding on someone door to get help.

I am guessing the a one am noise was not related to them.
Once everything hit the news they in hindsight remember hearing something that night, but someone looking for help would pound and then just go away. There were no calls for help, nothing seen. I doubt it was a person seeking help.

My question is was this an accident. Did one of them end up in the water and other tried to help? For it to be suicide she would have had to have intentionally taken him with her and she just didn't seem the type.

I still have to think it was a tragic, avoidable, but tragic accident.

Her next known stop was the Martin Way Diner on Fourth Avenue East in Olympia. She stopped there at about 9 p.m., ordered food, but left without taking it. Workers said she appeared to have trouble staying awake and she fell in the parking lot.

I don't remember hearing them say she was having trouble staying awake??

Detective Ed Troyer says clothing on Fox Island body matches that of missing boy. They are searching for mother's body.

For those not in WA, that current in that particular area is really swift.

Where the body was found or where the van was abandoned? Regarding the area where the van was found, I've heard conflicting reports about the current. The link posted above says "net current speeds are relatively low", but it does say they run in a counter-clockwise direction from west to east.

Tacoma News Tribune

"Strong probability it is Azriel based on the clothing we see on the scene"

Azriel's dad still on the way to the scene to identify the boy. :(

ETA: LE said this to the tribune

LE says strong probability it's Azriel based on clothing and description. Just said on radio.

ETA: LE Ed Troyer on the phone with them.

Nothing tells us this is not the boy based on description. Acting on this being the boy. Distinct clothing in surveillance videos from stores etc same as on boy's body.

Or something else that made him sleep? Any way you look at it, it's a tragic case.

Clothing looks like same as Azriel's. LE waiting for Medical Examiner. Per KIRO 97.3FM

It really upsets me that the news and RS is saying she only relapsed a week ago. When clearly in this photo she is having a beer in Feb with RS on a getaway. I'm surprised she bought the wine in front of Az unless he was used to seeing her do that...

Why would RS let her drink if he knew her problem - especially if he knew her problem and how bad it was to announce it to the nation...

Awful...

In that inlet where the van was isn't swift... but it's full of silt. Maybe they walked and got stuck? Maybe they swam? Either way, tide sucks out, flows in, sucks out.

Local news is about to start.
A husband gunned his wife down during a couples counseling session so they may open with that.
