Just want to check on some reported information:

Drivers side door open, sliding door open.
Windshield wipers up.
Alcohol in van.
Phone call to grandfather not bf.
Email to xhusband abt visit in same town.
Dealing with haunts from the past.
Dealing with cancer scare and lossing present stable relationship.

Are these things facts?

I noticed that, too.

Can't think of another explanation but that she hit that waterline driving pretty fast, for the water to splash over the van like that. I wonder if the van was actually front-first in the water when it was found, and some of the photos that we've seen were after it was towed. The sheriff said that it looked like she got stuck and tried to back out. If her van's rear was in the water, she'd be backing into the sound.

Or, it looks like there are some tidal pools right in that area, so maybe she plowed through a tidal pool before becoming lodged in the shoreline.

The photos I saw had the van backed into the water. And what of those two sets of parallel tire tracks? How did that happen?

Let's check another scenario.

What if she was angry, tired, and woozy and decided she wanted to go home?

Asking for highway directions maybe wasn't her wanting to go South, but wanting to go North.

Just musing.

You know, if all the doors were open and the van was backed into the water - say deep enough to get out and leave - sounds like maybe someone wanted it to disappear? And that is only my thinking IF that is the case.

Could also just be crud kicked back on it by the tow vehicle when it pulled it out of there. Early photo I saw it was front wheels up on a tow dolly, so front of that van was going to take some dirt coming of tires of that rig in front of it, especially of very wet, soft ground. Dirt road coming in, dirt road headed back out, plus moisture from the beach.

In his shoes, what would you have said? Even if you knew about the DUI, and thought that perhaps she was drinking and driving with her son in the car: The media is going to hear "alcoholic with previous DUI" and go away, assuming she's in a park somewhere sleeping it off.

The police would have known about it from the very beginning, whether RS told them or not.

Okay, no JB born in 1955 with a criminal record in WA. Scratch that idea. But CWB, the abusive boyfriend, has 8 convictions between 1999 & 2005 for DUI, drug possession, etc. Bad influence!

From the above linked article from the Kitsap Sun:

"Also in 2005, she took out a protection order against a Cowlitz County man, starting in July. But it was lifted in August 2006, according to the clerk’s office.
Thurston County Sheriff’s Lt. Chris Mealy said investigators haven’t interviewed the man, but he is on their “to do” list", he said.

It's so crazy to me to think that after all these days, LE hasn't spoken to him. I realized there is no evidence of any wrongdoing with him, but holy cow! What they hell ARE they doing? Do they not have detectives working on this thoroughly???? Geez! Frustrating. While I am not really concerned about this guy, the fact that LE hasn't talked to him and is simply on their "to do" list STILL....it makes me concerned that they are simply doing the bare minimum. Unreal.

I KNOW that everyone here at WS would've thought he would have at least been spoken to, evidence or not.

They wouldn't have turned on the wipers.

How can they say there's no evidence of wrong-doing if they haven't even interviewed him yet?

Are you kidding me? Yikes! I'm not paying anymore taxes here! J/K
I don't really think the guy has anything to do with this but it's not out of the realm of possibility, is it? Maybe they know something and are putting it all together. I just really thought he was already on the "done" list.

This is interesting. In 2005, Shantina was arrested for DUI and a hit and run the day after her ex husband was arrested for DUI and domestic violence assault.

Now I REALLY wonder what happened before she left on the trip. Could something have triggered her?

I did a criminal back ground check and found a JWB who is 33yo. The JWB we are looking for was born in 1955 right? If so, I can't find a thing on that particular JWB.

I'm having a hard time finding anything too. However his wife's friends list on her FB page that have his last name spell it with an 'e' on the end. But, his name is under the normal spelling when searching under background information.

The diner is at the intersection of Martin Way and Pacific Ave. in Olympia. We don't know what road she took to get to the Boston Harbor area, East Bay seems more likely if we are working under the assumption that she was trying to get on I-5 at Plum St. but missed the turn. Of course it would also be possible to get to the pizza/phone call area via South Bay Rd. and Libby Rd., but that's a lot more turning and wandering. Could explain the 1 hr. gap between the diner sighting and call time, though.

ok....thank you....i guess i just thought she turned on eastbay drive instead of plum....i thought and still do think its very strange.....even stranger if she took the southbay route.....i really have a bad feeling she was trying to come to terms of what she was about to do....:( that would make since of the driving around so much and not getting off and on the freeway the easy way.....most of the major ext have some kind of fast food and mini mart gas stations....there is no need for her to get herself so far off the path of the high way

I wonder if this is why he hasn't seen his son in so many years...I guess this is also when she went to live with her mom and stepfather. Then her mother died shortly after that.

:)

What I am confused with is why she stopped to make that 10pm call to let folks know she was running late, had been in or had some sort of accident, but was OK.

Unless she had some intent to do herself in, and just wanted to talk with her [step] grandfather one last time, but seems like she was genuinely checking in because at that point she had to have known people would be worried about them.

Her ex-husband is not Azriel's father. She was never married to him. He lives in New York, and I get the impression they probably never really had much of a relationship. At least not enough to have a child and get married.

I think the ex-husband and Azriel's father are two different people. Right?

Here is my question: Why didn't she tell them that she had been lost for several hours and she didn't know where she was and why didn't she call her stepfather's home? I think it's because she was intoxicated and with the son. But, if she was SO upset about being lost, she would have mentioned it. I think at point she decided to stay the night there. Which is why she went the opposite way when she left that house where she made the call at 10pm.

Not trying to be argumentative... :)

But, were it just the tow truck, I don't think that the wipers would have been turned on. If the van was under water up to the tops of the seats (I posted a quotation and link earlier that stated that), then more than likely the electronic system in the van was fried and you wouldn't be able to turn the wipers on anyway.

Plus, the tow truck more than likely winched the van up to more solid ground before putting it on the tow dolly.

I just can't find any plausible explanation for why the van would have that much splatter on the windshield except for that it happened the night that the van was abandoned.
