I agree!

Maybe RS has one on his key ring and an extra one. When Shantina borrowed the van from him, he gave her the extra key. It is odd she doesn't have it on a ring of keys with at least her house key. I wonder if she had a ring of keys and they too were left at home, with her cell phone, possibly on purpose? Do we know if she had her own car? Robb owns the van and his motorcycle which he was driving down to Castle Rock.

I was thinking similarly. Maybe she rarely drove this minivan, so she didn't keep its key on her usual keyring that had her house keys and the key of the car she normally drove. Where that might be, we don't know...maybe there was a purse that contained her other keys, but it got swept away?

I saw that too, or thought I was seeing something there - but can't tell.

Eyes are the first thing to go, GF.

Or is that the hair?

:)

Hope I am not just annoying weighing in on everything! But, I used to have a car with one of those remote things for the doors. It was a nuisance on a ring with other keys, but I didn't want to have just my car key loose either. So I kept them all ringed together. It was so easy to hit those buttons when fumbling with my door key or heaven forbid the store key and accidently pop my trunk or unlock/lock my doors!

Thanks for the pic Jules71. I just wanted to get a better look at the pic. Do you have the link so I can add it to my post. Thanks

That clear glass object next to the tire pressure gauge looks like a crack pipe.

ETA: You can see the carburetor on the end and the bowl on the top of the end.

That can like thingie in front of the lighter - a tip with metal that thick for a spray can would be awfully expensive (comparatively) to manufacture, and I'm not sure what kind of substance would warrant that kind of expense.

This line of thought led me to show the pic to my DH, who told me it looks to him exactly like an umbrella handle. Since he's cooking my dinner tonight, I'm siding with him.

Has anyone ID'd the brass object yet?

As I always say - never disagree with the cook lol!

Er, no, prettier, smarter younger sister of Moon Unit and Dweezil. We been playing 20 questions with it. I think you are right about the object. I was thinking plastic not glass and it was a hypodermic needle and plunger! But, it does seem more like a crack pipe than the other thing that I thought was a crack pipe!! So much for her being discreet about it. Oy.

ETA: Yeah, it almost seems too obvious now.

I see the leaving of the keys on the dashboard as a sign of abandonment, abandoning the van.

I mean, if I were to exit the van in a hurry, I would place my keys in a pocket, purse, bra, you name it. She took the time to get them off the ignition, why set them on the dashboard and not in her pocket?

Having the keys would assure her that she would be able to get in the van and drive it off once it gets pulled from the water and it dries off.

Leaving it is the equivalent of "here are the keys, I won't need them anymore, take the van and the keys and drive off" to whoever finds the van.

I know that in cases of emergency we not always think and act rationally. So, I'm not holding this as a given, but that's what I would do..

:)

is that a key in the upper left? if so, why is it not on her keychain.

was this the key they said was left on the dash? if so, where are the other keys

If this has already been answered, apologies. That key looks like a valet key. I have one for my car. But I don't keep it in the glove box. I only take it with me when I know I'm going to be using valet parking.

So then if the items are photographed in the general arrangement they were found in the glove box then the key was in a cubby maybe inside the box. So her real keys are unaccounted for.

We now have reason to suspect she has since took up with someone else who has got her back into her old ways again with drugs. But, that seems pretty blatant a thing to do, drive around risking DUI and have drug paraphernalia in so open a manner. Almost like these items were left to be found, too.

Surely this was not the place they were kept from day to day.

thanks for pointing that glass thing out. it absolutely does look like a glass (crack) pipe. i had not noticed it on my own

I don't see any drug paraphernalia.

it may not be, but it certainly looks like it could be. it is next to the silver tire gauge, it looks like a piece of cylindrical glass w/ a bowl jutting up and a carburetor at the end. sorrel skye described it best.

True, but wouldn't LE list their having found drug paraphanelia?

yeah, it is a good question why they would not if they had found what they knew to be paraphernalia. well i guess one reason they may not is that they could not be sure it was hers? she did not own the van. i really don't know. maybe it is not paraphernalia.

I understand, and I agree that it could be. It could also be something else.
