OT a bit, but good luck with that. Mine aren't that frequent any more (uber stress at my last job triggered many of them, I'm sure), but for the most part I have no idea what triggers my migraines. It's more along the lines of "Oh hell here comes another one..."

so how reasonable, C, do you think, or odd do you think it would be if your boyfriend asked you to chart your migranes to figure out the "trigger," and how much even more strange would it be if he posted the results in a myspace forum admitting to "cadmium" poisoning (what a freak poisoning is THAT?) that triggered some headaches of his own? Just saying. More fruit for the basket.

Hun that was posted in March of '07. I hesitated to post it at all, because it's not clear when they first met although they were living together within 6 months. The reason I did is because of the possibility she may have had a neuro event going on that night. His primary occupation is a welder; I would suspect that is where the cadmium poisoning came from? It's a risk, anyway.

they were together for at LEAST 2 years. as of the time of the disappearance. i can't remember where i found that fact, but i did find it. and even if she's not the object of those words, imagine the crud on that mind since then...

That's enough of the this is odd and that is strange and this other thing is weird in regards to Shantina's fiance.

LE has stated there is no evidence of a crime. LE has stated Robb is not a suspect, and has cooperated.

He is grieving. Enough is enough.

If you happen to come up with evidence of criminal wrongdoing on his part, then specify what that criminal wrongdoing is, detail it, and back it up with credible sources.

No more insulting this man for no reason. It's not what Websleuths is about.

Honestly, that didn't seem odd to me. Docs will ask migraine patients to keep a diary. And like I said, his occupation as a welder both in civilian and military life put him at a higher risk for that.

Just putting my article I posted today for Now Public media ( I am a producer at that site) here RE plans for memorial service; it has links to my prior SS articles and some YouTubes and just handy to have some of this all in one place, thanks. http://my.nowpublic.com/world/fiance-missing-shantina-smiley-plans-april-memorial-service

Thank you. Question: Being that you are a producer on that site, are you able to call the Thurston County Detectives and interview them with questions? That would be really cool!!

Well, I would have to get approval from editorial staff there, but it is a possibility....Keeping it in mind ; )

I realize that every case must be completely dissected and studied from all angles but what happened to giving someone the benefit of the doubt? Does the fact that someone has or had a problem with alcohol or drugs make them less worth saving?

No, someone having a problem with alcohol or drugs does not make them less worth saving, I don't believe this. In fact I myself have struggled with drug addiction so it would be completely hypocritical of me to say/believe this. The thing that bothers me is that she 'took' Azriel with her. Once you make the decision to have a child, I'm sorry, that's it, your decisions no longer affect only yourself. IMO, anyone is free to do what they want, including alcohol and/or drugs, UNTIL they have a child and take on the responsibility to care for that child. Shantina's decisions not only ended her own life, she stole Azriel's life as well. Same as a drunk driver killing a child on a bike or an innocent on the highway.

Well, a bit of trivia I found out is interesting, even though the knowledge doesn't change anything in this case.

I remember reading a poster here echoing my sentiment how odd it seemed to be that the mismatched shoes that washed ashore were both left shoes.

In reading up a bit on ocean currents, I came across a book review for a book "Flotsametrics and the Floating World" by Curtis Ebbesmeyer, which is about how debris flows in the oceans (sounds like it could be a good read, actually!)

What I found interesting was what the reviewer listed as one of the things of interest you learn in the book: "that right-footed and left-footed sneakers track radically yet predictably different paths when they hit the same patch of sea."

So, I guess it is not that odd the shoes were both lefts!

Bringing this over from the first post on this thread. Please pay attention!

WS is a victim friendly forum.
That means we do not sleuth family or friends of a victim until LE or main stream media give us a reason too. We treat family and friends with respect and sensitivity.

We also recognize that each poster has an opinion. They are entitled to their opinion. If you disagree with the opinion, move on - do not respond and try to change their mind. Just move on. If their opinion or post is offensive, hit the alert button (the little red triangle in the upper right corner of the post), then move on.

When paraphrasing from articles, it is important to be accurate. Do not add words to the interviewer or the interviewee's comments.

It is recognized that this case may be at a cross roads and could potentially turn in a couple of different directions. If that happens, sleuthing will also take a turn. BUT sleuthing will not take that turn unless there are solid indications from LE or the main stream media.

If there is continued sleuthing or disparaging comments about family members, posters will be given time outs.

Thanks for keeping the focus on Shantina and Azriel.

I don't think he brought a bag or backpack with extra clothes, etc.

Because in an interview he said he'd been down there still wearing the same clothes and some people (from his scouts?) brought him a change of clothes and other stuff. I believe it was the GMA interview.

Odd that he'd take off to an unknown destination for the weekend without a change of clothes.

I agree - seems as if he might have left in a hurry, or they weren't planning on staying the night, or maybe they were planning on returning home Sunday, so no extra clothes needed? IDK.

I like to have a change of clothes, even when going somewhere just for one night. But sometimes I also wear the same thing the next day if they're not dirty. At the very least, though, you'd think someone would want fresh undies.

But I agree that it's odd.

The flyer was made after the van was found.

Don't you think it's a bit odd that Shantina's clothing is described, yet Azriel's is not? RS was in training scheduled from 8 am to 4 pm; he didn't indicate that he'd seen Shantina before they left but rather received phone calls from her. I suppose she could have told him what she was wearing during that call, but he never said anything about that (and he was very detailed in his timeline) and IMO that would be ... well ... weird. If he got her description of clothing from the security videos released, then why no description of Azriel? If he did see her as she was leaving town, where was Azriel? Why didn't RS just go along at that point?

I also wondered why Azriel's clothing wasn't described on the flier.

ETA: Just wanted to add that little Azriel's clothing WAS described in the flier, just not very accurately, IMO. His clothing was described as: "Last seen wearing a dark-colored top". He was last seen on the video surveillance.

http://www.co.thurston.wa.us/sheriff/hp-docs/press-releases/press-release-20100315.pdf

According to video surveillance, he was wearing a tee-shirt with what looked like some sort of emblem on the front, and he was wearing an orange colored coat. Not a "dark-colored top" that I could see.

I thought they were planning on spending the night. I swear that's what I read in the news articles. Shantina, Robb, and Azriel, all three spending the night.

The flyer says Shantina had an overnight bag. If Robb ended up without a change of clothes, it's probably that his clothes were in the overnight bag with Shantina's and Azriel's.

If nobody saw Az before they left, nobody would have known what he was wearing. Maybe he had some kind of activity that day.

When I was in the grocery store yesterday, I checked out the Carlo Rossi wine. The 1.5 liter of Rhine wine is 9% alcohol. The Chablis is 9.5 %.

1.5 liters is equivalent to 2 750 ml. bottles, right?

If she drank half the jug, that's about 750 ml. I think. But 9% alcohol is pretty weak - not much stronger than beer.

I know this has been discussed ad infinitum. Just wanted to add my :twocents: about the wine.

The fiance of a missing Silverdale mother is holding out hope she’s still alive, and authorities still don’t have any leads on where she might be.

snip

“At this point I still have all the hope in the world that she will turn up alive, I cannot do anything else,” Smiley’s fiance Robb Simmons, wrote in an e-mail to the Kitsap Sun.

http://www.kitsapsun.com/news/2010/apr/01/memorial-service-planned-for-shantina-smiley/

Poor Robb. He really loves her. Sounds like he's having an awful time accepting this. I hope he can find some closure and comfort soon.

I can only imagine the heartache he's experiencing right now. Like he said when they first went missing, "I'm missing half my family right now."
