we have heard a lot of nothing for a while
see my thing is the gangs around here either where blue or red not both
see he (Steven) could remember everything about the hitchhiker but cant remember where he got out at
bull**it
im sorry i do not believe anything he is saying
they cops let him go home i just hope he will brag about it to one of his friends.....or his next girlfriend (or next victim)

i hate this waiting
i wish this would get over with for the boy's sake

Do you know if this guy had been married before? Have you heard anything about his previous marriage or any of his previous relationships? Esp. during the breakup periods?

I was laughing so hard I was crying when I read this. My husband totally agrees with your husband. I mean, "blue work pants" is one thing, but whose gonna know they're Dickies unless you're looking at his behind? The guy was wearing red, white and blue? In what gang universe does this ever happen? None that I have heard of. Was he just being patriotic anticipating the upcoming holiday?Like your husband also said, who isn't going to give him a taste of the grill at the very least? And who picks up a hitchhiker at 3 am at a rest stop? Nobody. Nobody did this time, either. I just hope they find some evidence because this guy is an idiot.
-----------
"A tast of the grill" LOL, I have been such a cranky sourpuss tonight on the Haleigh Cummings and I have got to say, you really made me laugh. You are so right, this case is a lot of BS. I thought when I logged into this thread I would be reading that the husband had been arrested, GMAB. This is ridiculous.

Several shots fired in a small Dodge Neon???????????? GMAB. Where are the bullet holes? Where are the bullets? They couldn't have traveled very far in that confined space. This is total baloney.

A couple of years ago lots of Hispanic guys here in Texas were wearing Dickies pants and white T shirts. Younger gang members or maybe even wanna be's might wear a red bandana hanging out of a back pocket too if running around in their area. I don't know what the styles are now though. I still believe that people actually move to Montana to get away from this type of crap though, and can't believe that a couple would pick up something like this hitchhiking late at night, especially if a red bandana was seen. If the husband saw it, then he knew what it supposedly meant, or could mean. I'd think any Hispanic dresed that way would be terrified to be dressed this way up in the heavily armed survival type area of Montana. Hogwash!

it was in Yakima Washington not Montana
they were traveling from Montana to Yakima to pick up a niece

Right after it happens and during the time up until the funeral there is usually quite a bit of media coverage. But often there is a lull after that, unless there is some event that happens to attract media attention. For instance if there is a candlelight walk, or a vigil or something. Then when LE gives them something regarding suspects or arrests there will be another flurry of media. Then there will be another lull until the trial.

well i heard some news the kids' (Sheryl's mom) grandmother went to Montana to see them
and the jerk (Steven) called the cops on her said she can see the 14 year old

My guess is that he thinks he can still get the youngest one to believe his ridiculous story, whereas the older boy probably already suspects the truth.

Tick, tock.......

My guess: from the obit, there are 4 children, two of them, the two oldest, have her last name, so they aren't his children. Therefore, he couldn't not let her see them. Perhaps one of them didn't want to see her.

I mean if he could kill their mom, he could also say some pretty horrible things about her own mother. Of course he hasn't been arrested, or convicted and the articles to date have even said LE has no reason to doubt him, so whatever.

Just my thoughts on the matter, and as always, moo

ETA; I guess one of the boys with her last name is 18 years old, so he wouldn't have a say as to whether the grandma could see him. The other boy is 14, also with her last name. More than likely, this is one he let her see. The other two are his children, I would think.

Perhaps soon, she will have them all and he will have no say at all. :)
Only if he's guilty of course.....

============
I'm a skeptical type of person so as I read the article above I immediately had a suspicion: In the article the common law husband stated that he struggled with the hitchhiker and that the hitchhiker fired four shots, one of them hitting Sheryl Huntley in the head. This is just me but "wouldn't that be a possible reason for gunshot residue to be on his hands. Like, maybe he was holding the hitchhiker's gun hand to keep him from shooting them and the gun went off a few times in the struggle? How did he manage to get the pepper spray canister out and fired off if he was struggling with the hitchhiker? Maybe he got shot as he was firing off the pepper spray? Maybe?

And if they were both struggling with the thief, they should have both had dna under their fingernails, and that would be proof he was there. Interesting that LE hasn't mentioned that the perp who had been peppersprayed would also have scratch marks.

I wonder if she was prone to carry pepperspray, and she used it that night, but not on a latino dude. just a thought, moo.

I'm wondering if he was shot through the back of his hand or did the bullet enter through the palm of the hand and exit through the backside of the hand. Does any of you know? Looks like if the pepper spray canister was in the same hand, it would have also been hit by the bullet..

If a pepperspray can was hit with a bullet, would it explode?

two are hers from a previous relationship one is 18 and one 14 he (Steven) wouldn't let Sheryl mother see the 14 year old the other two kids are Stevens from a previous relationship

and Steven called the cops and had her removed from his property so she couldn't see her grandson
(the 14 year-old)

I wonder if the lab can tell if the pepperspray was used before or after the shooting.
I'm guessing it would depend on the time difference, one having time to settle.
csc, I'm sorry for your loss.
Do you know how old his children are, and where their mother is?
I think you said he had spent 12 years in prison himself and he is only 34 years old.
Was some of that time done as a minor, b/c when did he have time to have chidren?

Um, they aren't married, the 14 year old is not his son, so the grandmother would be the next of kin, that and/or his brother.
Therefore, he would have no say in the matter.
The grandma or the brother should file for custody of that 14 year old boy.
Since he has his mother's name, I'm assuming he never adopted either one of the boys.
You said their bio dad is in prison?
I don't think SH has any legal rights to the 14 year old boy.
He sounds like a real creep, moo.
Did you say he was going to go live with his brother, but that he is still with Harwood at this time?
tia=thanks in advance.

That must be difficult for him.
I do hope LE finishes their investigation quickly.

IMO unless there is some type of bad blood between the grandmother and the 14 year old's father, she needs to make contact with him. Even though he is in prison, as the child's father he carries the say so on the 14 year old, as long as he is the child's legal father.... on the birth certificate or court papers or child support records. If she can get a notarized statement from him that she is allowed to see the child, she should take the notarized statement and the child's birth certificate etc. to the local LE and see if they will assist her then.

She also needs to see an attorney about getting custody of the child. With his father in prison, she stands a good chance at getting the custody. How is her relationship with the 18 year old? Would he be willing to help?

One question. What kind of a father has he been in the past? Is there any history of abuse or erratic behavior or drug usage for the hubby?
