Wow, they couldn't even determine gender?

  • #3
Seems like they may not have enough to go on. From NamUs: "Torso not recovered. One or more limbs not recovered. One or both hands not recovered. Condition of Remains: Not recognizable - Partial skeletal parts only"

What about DNA extraction? Maybe not enough bone to get anything?

Interestingly, Skagit County has only two unidentified deceased persons listed and neither one of them match this description. Skagit County Cold Cases

Looking at the map based on the GPS coordinates is exceedingly rural mountainous terrain as in no way someone hiked in there and left a body. Is that exactly where they found the bones? If so, I'm going with wildlife scattered the remains which would mean the heavy bone sections would not be carried so far but the smaller bones would. The smaller bones could also be moved via flooding or snow thaw. I wonder if they've done any searches at all around the tributaries off the Sauk river.

No updates on this case for 3+ years in Namus, and no indication of gender. As others have wondered here, what exact partial Remains did they recover?

I spent a bit of time researching this case. I could not find any news articles or additional information regarding which remains were recovered. There is also one rule out for the case, Patricia Krieger MP9298.

The remains were found at the exact coordinates of 48.4241961,-121.7114362. This is about a 0.4-mile walk from the nearest road. It seems remote but someone with a car could theoretically move a body there.

IMO the remains are someone who was a victim of foul play and then dumped at the location, or it's someone who got lost, intentionally or unintentionally, in the forest.

I did find some missing person cases that may be our unidentified remains.

First, David Foster Tilton, MP29885. Mr. Tilton went missing from Trout Lake, Washington on June 9th, 2015. Mr. Tilton was scheduled to turn himself into the Yakima FBI office the next day, he was facing federal anti-child 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 trafficking charges. He left his residence and stated he would be "spending the night in the forest" and then would return the next morning. NamUS lists his vehicle as being located near the Pacific Crest Trail in Skamania County. However, the FBI lists that his car was found at a car park on the Gifford Pinchot National Forest on June 13th, 2015.

IMO Mr. Tilton was planning to evade the FBI. His car location is about 165 miles from where the remains were located. It would take 55 hours to walk from his car to the location of the remains. It's plausible Mr. Tilton may have tried to travel undetected in the forest toward Canada.

Second, Theodore Mark Stover #MP27129, went missing from Anacortes, Washington on October 29th, 2009. His ex-wife's boyfriend, Michiel Glen Oakes, was eventually convicted of his murder but did not disclose where he disposed of Mr. Stover's body. Per The Charley Project, Mr. Stover's car was found parked at the Northern Lights Casino with bloody fingerprints smeared on the back. Mr. Stover's house was searched and police found blood smears in his bedroom and hallway and the bathroom smelled of bleach.

Mr. Oakes stated he shot Mr. Stover and his dog in self-defense at Mr. Stover's house. Mr. Stover's neighbors called police to report two suspicious vehicles trespassing at a grange hall half a mile from Mr. Stover's house. The neighbor saw a man moving a bundle wrapped in plastic from one car to another. A search of Mr. Oakes's residence yielded guns and a bloody piece of carpet that had been cut from Mr. Oakes's car. The blood stain on the carpet and in other areas of Mr. Oakes's car traced back to Mr. Stover.

We factually know that Mr. Oakes murdered Mr. Stover, and Mr. Stover's body was in his car at some point. We also know that Mr. Oakes transferred a plastic bag to another car. It's likely that Mr. Oakes and/or an accomplice dumped Mr. Stover's body somewhere close. Mr. Stover's body may have been dumped in the bay, but Mr. Oake or an accomplice may have driven to dump the body in a remote location.

Third, is James Reed Williams #MP22686, he went missing from Marblemount, Washington on June 9th, 2009. His vehicle was found abandoned in the Marblemount, WA area. I cannot locate any additional information on him, but his car was found about 28 miles from the unidentified remains.

Skagit County is mostly super rural and has a TON of farmland. I'm very familiar with the area. I'll check the NamUs page.

I think Dustin Kane Nations of Concrete is a possibility. He is on Namus. I shared below. Of particular interest "Subject last seen walking away from 44279 S Skagit Hwy near Concrete, WA."

Patricia Krieger, MP from Skagit County WA has been ruled out so they must have dentals from UID to make the comparison (or DNA).

Skagit County has only 3 missing persons listed on their site but Patricia isn’t one of them. That is a slim list compared to NamUs, which has 35 MP listed. It appears they only have long term cold cases for missing persons listed.

I am wondering if they have evidence that UID could be female or if Patricia’s dentals were readily available which made for a quick comparison.

I found this possibility and would like to know what you think.

Please tell us why you think it’s a match, so we know why you chose it. Then we can comment and people familiar with either the UID or MP may possibly add extra details if other info is available to support or disprove your theory. Thanks!

I don't think this is the UID as this man was at a body of water and most likely drowned IMO. Plus Concrete is about 10 1/2 hours from Mt Vernon

In my experience, cases where they're on NamUs with very little info and not listed anywhere else have usually already been id'd but are still on namus for other reasons.

Their NamUs page has been removed.

''Forensic evidence was submitted to Othram’s laboratory in The Woodlands, Texas where DNA was extracted and used to build a comprehensive DNA profile using Forensic Grade Genome Sequencing®. Through this process, it was determined that the remains were that of a female. Othram genealogists used the profile in a forensic genetic genealogy search to provide new leads to law enforcement. These new leads fueled a follow-up investigation into the person’s identity. The costs associated with this case were fully funded through the Roads to Justice (RTJ) program.

A possible relative of Jane Doe, who resided in a southern US state, was identified. In an interview, the possible family member reported to investigators that their family member had moved to Washington. As a result of this investigation, Skagit County Doe is now positively identified as Kate Grey. Grey, who was born in 1970, told family that she was going to live with a community of others in the foothills in or near the national forest in Washington. Kate’s family was informed of the positive identification, and final arrangements for Kate are being made.''
