A MULTI-agency search for an 82-year-old man reported missing for three days remains ongoing.

North Wales Police and HM Coastguard launched a search for Robert Cuthbertson on Sunday, covering areas including Breakwater Park and the Rocky Coast.

The search has continued in recent days and has been joined by land search agency MONSAR, RNLI, Coastguard, RAF and Search and Rescue Dogs in Wales (SARDA).

Police have appealed for anyone who may have seen Mr Cuthbertson, who may have been wearing a check shirt, or his grey vehicle in the area.

Chief inspector Owain Llewellyn said: "Despite an extensive multi-agency search involving colleagues from MONSAR, SARDA, the RAF, RNLI and Coastguard, Mr Bob Cuthbertson remains missing," he said.

"The search has so far focussed on the Breakwater Park area and the coastline running from Rocky Coast to South Stack and will continue over coming days.

"I am still extremely keen to hear from anyone who may have seen Mr Cuthbertson, or his vehicle, a grey Suzuki Swift, on Friday or morning of Saturday."

His grandson has said on social media that Robert's Suzuki was found at the Quarry in Holyhead where he may have parked on the Saturday morning - a week ago - but has not been seen since.

A pilot has described his fury at being forced to stay in quarantine despite his father-in-law going missing following the death of his wife.

Capt Ryan Harris, from Worcester, returned to the UK from Qatar after the death of his mother-in-law.

While having to quarantine at a hotel, his father-in-law went missing and Capt Harris asked if he could help in the search.

The Department for Heath and Social Care turned his request down.

A spokesperson said all exceptional circumstance requests are "carefully considered" and teams "always try to balance the needs of the person applying with our top priority of protecting the public".

Capt Harris said he was "climbing the walls" at being unable to help his family and the coastguard look for Bob Cuthbertson.

Mr Cuthbertson's car was found next to a disused quarry on Holyhead mountain a few days after he disappeared and the family believe the 82-year-old, "distraught with grief", took his own life.

Capt Harris said he "felt absolutely hopeless" in his hotel room.

"My wife was distraught, she just needed me there," he said. "She'd just buried her mother two weeks previously and now she's just lost her father."

His mother-in-law Anne Cuthbertson, who lived in Holyhead, Anglesey, died in June after being diagnosed with cancer.

Capt Harris returned to the UK from red-listed Qatar, where he works at a flying academy, landing at London Heathrow on 17 July.

As a pilot, he believed he was exempt from quarantine, but was told at the airport he had to quarantine at a hotel in Kensington.

In this time, Capt Harris received a call from his wife, Victoria, telling him his father-in-law was not answering any calls.

What a wholly sad state of affairs.

Robert's wife dying just last month, now he - obviously still filled with grief and in mourning - is missing, and his son in law prevented from helping.

Poor family.

Not heard anything more about this poor man. What an awful time for his daughter with her mother dying in June too.

Given the circumstances and this gentleman's age, fear time is now not on his side. Not heard anything, so presume still not found.

The body of an elderly man was discovered by a walker at a popular Anglesey beach, an inquest heard.

The hearing at Caernarfon heard Robert Young Cuthbertson had been reported missing from his Holyhead home several weeks before the grim discovery was made.

He was found in a small cove at Porthdafarch beach on October 7.

North west Wales acting senior coroner Katie Sutherland said the body was identified from DNA analysis.

She added a post mortem examination was carried out by Home Office pathologist Dr Brian Rodgers.

"The circumstances are that he was found by a walker on the coastal path in the area of Rocky Coast near Holyhead," she said.

"The cause of death has been given as unascertained and the investigation remains ongoing and the inquest is adjourned."
