I can't tell you for sure if all the techniques I mentioned below were used on these children but I know they were used on me. Just letting you know in advance.

1.) When a child is born they are taught not to cry. They are taught this by several things For me it was being shocked by wires. For others it was being held under water each and every time they cried. They therefore did learn that crying was not tolerated.

2.) Childern are starved and not provided food/water until they are just about near death, to reinforce that they are not to need anything from anyone.

3) The children are told not to tell anyone, cause if they do they will be deemed crazy and noone will beleive them. They will end up in a mental ward. Code of silence.


4.) Children are taught that they must respect everyone, if there mo, dad, uncle, brother, say for them to do something, and the child says no, or I don't want to do that, they get SEVERLY beaten. And I mean SEVERLY beaten, each and every time they say no, to instill them that saying no will result in dire consequences.

I have several scars on my body from these beatings, because I wanted to stand up for myself.

Several other techniques could be used and probably have been used. This programmin/mind control is tough to get away from. And once you do you are indeed paying for it the rest of your life. Through family members that are still in the cult or religious sect. I am still in therapy because of this. And probably will be for several years.

So when someone sits on a message baord and says "the woman should be just as responsable as the men because they knew exactly what they were doing....." I have to say would you, knowing what you have read so far, be able to sit here and say that now?

Like I said I am not entirly sure if all techniques have been used in these children, however mind control is mind control from sect to sect.

What you've described is horrific for anyone to endure, but for children it must be even more so. Consider how impressionable young children are, it's these terrible techniques that will leave life-long scars.

Good for you for getting out. Why do you think some have the drive to get out, like you did, but others stay? (If it's too personal, don't feel obligated to answer.)

Some realize it is wrong what they are going through, and some don't. Some have the guts to defy the odds, to get out.. and others just can't handle it and unfortunatly just succumb to the programming.

Some realize that once they get out there is better lives, while others don't know how to trust anyone outside.

For me, it was a risk, because the group i belonged to did horrible things to me, and beelive it or not did sacrifices. I knew if I didn't get out, I was gonna wind up dead. So I had to get things in order!

I want to point out to everyone that I have friends who are LDS. There is a small congregation in our small town, and they have a Family History Center there. I can go over on any Tuesday evening and utilize their vast connection to many genealogical documents. I am a member of our local Daughters of the American Revolution chapter and we do have several members who are LDS, that is modern LDS. They are most helpful. We helped organize an evening of fun and square dancing at their church. We all had a wonderful time. The ones who have abandoned the old polygamy ways are very family oriented genuinely nice people. I know they avoid any stimulus, such as coffee, tea and sodas, but that's ok if that's what they wish to believe.

Sherri, I am not making fun of your typo, honestly I'm not. But it really tickled me prophet=profit ROFL. I was just thinking how appropriate it was! Quite literally the prophet was out to make a profit on the backs of his congregation.

While in most cases I believe the wife/mother who allows the abuse to be as guilty as the person who actually abuses, in this case I do believe there should be some allowance made. These women were literally powerless in this situation. While most women have access to outside help, getting outside help for these women would be difficult if not impossible. They were not only raised in a demeaning way, taught that their interference would be a strike against God, they were literally locked away from help. Who would they tell and how would they reach them to tell? This isn't a situation where they had access to phones and met with others on a regular basis.

i think we must agree to disagree on the mothers in this case. i think what you said about how they are told to resist is a strike against god works as a excuse for the men also. i do not find the excuses acceptable.

Just to clarify, LDS and FLDS are two different groups. There aren't any LDS left to abandon polygamist ways since the LDS church banned it a good 100 years ago. The LDS church will excommunicate anyone who practices polygamy.

i think equating LDS to FLDS is like saying all baptist churches are like westboro baptist. i will not think of your friends in the same light as jeffs if you do not think of me in the same light as phelps. :blowkiss:

And then I thought that maybe you meant a satanic cult that kills chickens or something, and I thought that I probably was jumping to conclusions. You did in fact mean that the cult you escaped from sacrifices human beings. I apologize for probing and I am sure you are trying to maintain your anonymity so that you can effectively play an active role in stopping the present and ongoing murder of human beings by this dangerous religious cult.

tell me what i have lived. you have no idea. do not make this a personal attack on me because you feel your abuse trumps mine.

is a man that was raised in this cult to be held responsible for his actions when he rapes a girl? this man was brain washed. tortured his entire childhood. told the only path was to do as told by the leader. failure to do as told not only damns his soul but will mean his family is taken and given to another man. he is not guilty of rape because he saw this as his only option. should we excuse the behavior of the men because they are raised in the same brain washed cult?
