And in the case of Colorado City, how do you stand up to them when the cops and a Judge is a polygamist himself?

You don't - or can't and therein lies the dilemma. I hope and pray the Texas LE who is handling this does it right. Last time this happened, it was disasterous and enabled the FLDS to continue their evil practices. Pedophilia is an accepted way of life for them - no matter what they call it. They are within the borders of the USA and cannot and should not be allowed to continue to hide under the cloak of religion. It needs to stop and their victims need to be saved.

tell me what i have lived. you have no idea. do not make this a personal attack on me because you feel your abuse trumps mine.

is a man that was raised in this cult to be held responsible for his actions when he rapes a girl? this man was brain washed. tortured his entire childhood. told the only path was to do as told by the leader. failure to do as told not only damns his soul but will mean his family is taken and given to another man. he is not guilty of rape because he saw this as his only option. should we excuse the behavior of the men because they are raised in the same brain washed cult?

I am not making this a personal attack on anyoen, at least that is not my intention. What I am syaing is this. These children are beat and raped from age 3 months to adult hood. So by the time they reach adult hood they have no fight left. because they know if they fight it, then therte will be hell to pay.

All I am going to say is your assumptions are correct. And thank you for understanding my position, for anonymity when it comes to this particular topic.

Actually I didn't assume the sacrificing part, you posted that. But I did assume you meant human when taken in the overall hue of the post. I do understand your need for anonymity and position that you may see yourself in, and I understand.

If a teenager leaves a cult/sect they are minors and unless the abuse can be proven, the court will return them to the parents.

A wife can usually leave anytime she wants...without the kids. If she takes the kids, a court will award custody to the father and return them to him because he is the one with the income and a home.

Anyone who dares to stand up to a prophet is punished severely and used as an example to the rest of the sect so they don't even think of making the same mistake. They are punished by having their homes that they built and paid for taken away and run out of town. The families will be split up and reassigned to a new husband. They are beaten, starved and imprisoned.

And until Texas stepped up to the plate, there was no real help out there. I hope this goes well. I hope it leads to the fall of more of these communities.

With all due respect, you obviously have no idea what this group is all about. These people generally do not leave voluntarily. They have absolutely no concept of life outside of their sect. With no knowledge of the outside world, they are ignorant of how the rest of the US lives. They cannot function without the structure into which they were born and raised. This is exactly how the men in power want them to be. It eliminates their desire to be free thinking people. No different than slavery 200 + years ago. They are an abomination.

A wife cannot leave on her own. I suggest you read carolyn jessops story "escape" and you will realize the seriousness in this

Are you still able to have contact with your relatives? Some are able to meet in secret and I was wondering if you had to leave everyone behind.

i have contact with some of my relatives via phone only, and have taken extra measures for them not to be able to trace me to my current location.

Ladybass, I completely respect your strength and determination. I do understand the complexity of the matter and admire your will to escape. I have been interested in the issue of polygamy for many years and have read many accounts of women who have broken free. There are so many facets to this story and I know that anyone who sees it as "religious freedom" is sadly mistaken about what goes on. I wish all the best for you and your babies.

Excuse me? I have no idea what this group is about? Make sure you know that for a fact before making a statement like that. You betcha some leave voluntarily....if they didn't, how do you explain the ones who "escaped" in the middle of the night? How do you explain Flora Jessop....she "escaped". They leave voluntarily but have a price to pay.

Yes they leave voluntarily, but it takes guts and will. And if they are caught leaving then there is even more hell to pay!

I said "generally" - and those who do are, by far, the exception. The price they pay is leaving the people they love, not by being punished by the sect - to which they never return.

Exactly what I stated in post 504.

May I ask how you gained access to a computer and got out? You are obviously out now and safe but you are making statements and then being very cryptic. Raped from age 3 months? If you were in a cult and got out have you talked to the authorities so that they can do something about this cult? As I said you are obviously out now and safe and with access to a computer so I see no reason why you can't answer these questions as they are not personal and will not put you in harms way whatsoever. Thank you.

I said they can "usually" leave. I didn't say they "did". Some chose to stay, some chose to leave. Big big difference and I stated clearly the consequences of defying a prophet, which, leaving voluntarily would be one of them.

Yes I am in contact with authorites about the whole thing. That is why I choose not to answer any questions that might jeapordize anything. nd also for my own safety. My abusers can still track me down, by things I say. So that is my reasoning.
