um hi. can you quote a post where suziq was in any way flippant about this case.

are you sure you are not confused. i think it is my post that you are upset over but you quoted suzi.

I'm not confused. Suziq was flippant in suggesting that these women are able to leave the sect voluntarily. That's truly not the case here. Historically, mothers who must choose between the well being of their children and a less than ideal home-life make the right choice. But we are not talking about standard circumstances here. The majority of the FLDS women were born into the lifestyle and do not know anything different. They generally have more children than those outside of the sect and cannot possibly imagine how they can support their family in the outside world.

Maybe at a later date I will tell you my story. But to be truthful.. I am hesitent to do that, as everytime I do I get people telling me I am lying, and that I am just saying the stuff for attention. It takes time to work up the courage to tell my story, and then to get knocked down for it,,,,, So That is also another reason to keep my mouth shut. When it comes to this case though, and anything I have experienced, if i feel I can offer any insight I will.

ok good grief, I know there's one born every minute but it wasn't me. I'm going to go watch Boston Legal. It's another fiction TV show.

The LDS abolished polygamy in 1890 in order to become a state. The FLDS are those who refused to give up polygamy. They're small in numbers, but have existed for 118 years.

In 118 years there's been many generations, and even more so with the FLDS, considering that the age for "marrying" and bearing children was 14 or 15. In 118 years there been about 7 generations in the FLDS, almost twice the number of generations that's normal for most of us.

For the young teenage girls that have been removed from the Texas compound, this is the only life they've ever known. Their mothers, grandmothers, great-grandmothers, and great-great-grandmothers have known no other way of life. They have no other lifestyle to compare it to, and they've been brainwashed into believing that this is the good way of life and those on the outside are evil.

I think it's going to be a lot more difficult to reach out to the adult women in the group and gain their trust. The children, because of their youth will adapt more easily. I hope some of those who've escaped the FLDS and spoken of their recovery, can be brought in to help put these people at ease. I think the key is going to be gaining the trust of the adult women.

Now that we are all a little clearer..... back to the topic the FLDS children who are confused by all of this, and those parents who have done nothing wrong who must be afraid tonight. And about those who are guilty and all the sorting out it is going to take while still protecting the basic rights of the individuals who do in fact belong to this very real religious group.
one of my fears is that the children that are returned will feel betrayed by the system. a child that is abused often feels hopeless. any child returned to the compound will feel they have proof escape is hopeless. the leaders will twist these event to prove to the children how the outside world will only destroy them.

I didn't realize they had been around that long.

that's true Sherri, especially if LE acted rashly in any way and everyone eventually winds up where they started out.

As far as the avidavit (sp) I really don't think that the kids will be returned do the extent of the accusations.

oh if they screwed this up so that nothing can be used in court i am really scared for the next few generations. i think they would become even more extreme than they are now.

I think so too. Or maybe move locations and continue as before.

trixie you have always been one to doubt the governments stand on this raid. Why should I even consider sharing my story with you , would be silly for me to do wouldn't you think?? I would just be wasting my time, cause you will turn around and call me a liar. Have a nice night, enjoy your show

Ladybass, this is an anonymous forum, so there's no chance of your being discovered. If you have experience in a "cult" like the FLDS - and it could be any cult utilizing control, your insights are important - as long as they are genuine. For those of us in mainstream society, it's difficult to understand. That is not to say it doesn't exist and isn't relevant to this case.

Mind control:

I can't tell you for sure if all the techniques I mentioned below were used on these children but I know they were used on me. Just letting you know in advance.

1.) When a child is born they are taught not to cry. They are taught this by several things For me it was being shocked by wires. For others it was being held under water each and every time they cried. They therefore did learn that crying was not tolerated.

2.) Childern are starved and not provided food/water until they are just about near death, to reinforce that they are not to need anything from anyone.

3) The children are told not to tell anyone, cause if they do they will be deemed crazy and noone will beleive them. They will end up in a mental ward. Code of silence.

4.) Children are taught that they must respect everyone, if there mo, dad, uncle, brother, say for them to do something, and the child says no, or I don't want to do that, they get SEVERLY beaten. And I mean SEVERLY beaten, each and every time they say no, to instill them that saying no will result in dire consequences.

I have several scars on my body from these beatings, because I wanted to stand up for myself.

Several other techniques could be used and probably have been used. This programmin/mind control is tough to get away from. And once you do you are indeed paying for it the rest of your life. Through family members that are still in the cult or religious sect. I am still in therapy because of this. And probably will be for several years.

So when someone sits on a message baord and says "the woman should be just as responsable as the men because they knew exactly what they were doing....." I have to say would you, knowing what you have read so far, be able to sit here and say that now?

Like I said I am not entirly sure if all techniques have been used in these children, however mind control is mind control from sect to sect.

Do they kill the ones who will not bend? I'm sorry you went through this, but I don't think Texas will take into account that the women have been mentally programmed. It happens all the time to abused wives and they lose their children just like anyone else and are even prosecuted by Texas if they allow abuse. That is, if there's enough evidence for a DA to decide to prosecute. Texas is a big place. These kids can be sent all over the state to foster and group homes.

her words.
A wife can usually leave anytime she wants...without the kids. If she takes the kids, a court will award custody to the father and return them to him because he is the one with the income and a home.
so a mother can run but it will cost her children.

your words.
The price they pay is leaving the people they love
so a mother that leaves will loose her children.

this is probably a waste of time to try and speak with you about but i will try anyway. she said it then you basically said the same thing. if her words are flippant then wouldn't your words be also?

Yep they do Thanks so much for the welcome. It is sometimes hard to just accept the fact the some people won't beleive no matter how concrete the facts are.

They do hunt people down. If they can offer anything to the group, then they have a reason to hunt them down.

As far as the kids and woman. they have a LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG Haul to go. Some will succeded while others may not. I wish them all the best, I know that it does take years of therapy to be able to overcome the programming, and crap.

And until Texas stepped up to the plate, there was no real help out there. I hope this goes well. I hope it leads to the fall of more of these communities.

I'm sorry - I didn't see this post and I totally agree.

I really, really would hate to lose your insight into this. And I for one, understand your need for the cryptic remarks. I would think that most of us WS'rs would understand how easy it is to find info on the internet. Saying too much in this forum could very easily lead them right to where she is now. It's been done before.

Hope you'll continue on Ladybass

Thats the sad thing about our governement system, They don't take into account that these mothers are the victims also.

In my group, (I do not know abotu the eldorado grou) woman were killed, if they could not be brought back into line. I highly doubt that Eldarodo group has done this. But it is quite possible.
