Wayne Millard: Dellen Millard Charged With Murder In The First Degree #1

Lots of interesting stuff in the first two-three threads on here. DM was apparently leaving a hotel near Cawthra on the morning he was arrested.

Well DM is clearly interested in fashion if he recognizes names like Armani and McQueen. It's not that DM knows nothing about fashion:

"When I wrote that I could never find Armani that fit, you pronounced that I am out of touch with fashion."

Shorty, Giorgio's 80 years old now, he's old news. I agree. You're out of touch.

He doesn't write that he "prefers function to form" but instead, "It is true that I believe form follows function." The shape of something should be based on its purpose, so if your purpose is to theatrically impress, you should go couture.

DM wants to put on a show for us.

"Dellen was — and I realize I’m playing into a stereotype here — a little marginalized, a little different. I didn’t even know the guy was so wealthy. He always looked like a bit of a hillbilly,” Mr. Humphrey said.
At a school where most students had rich parents and wore trendy outfits, Mr. Millard wore clothes more befitting a farmer. His father used to drop him off in an old pickup truck."

And then he grew up and started moving with an image-obsessed crowd. LB, drama graduate; MWJ, living art...

Canada Border Services was involved from the beginning. Why? Was he trying to leave the country?

“Tim Bosma has not been located and our greatest priority is the welfare and locating of Tim Bosma,” said Supt. Dan Kinsella.
“Anyone who knows where Tim is, please help us to return Tim. For those responsible, turn yourself in.”
Kinsella said the OPP, Brantford and Toronto police and the Canadian Border Services Agency are helping with investigation.

From May 11, 2013.

FWIW, this is the article that DM is referencing in his letter. The only plaid suit pictured in the article features a matching kilt. Since we have only seen snippets of the letter without any context to whom he is replying to, it is difficult to say for certain, but IMO it seems as though he may be joking - essentially telling the recipient that he's so out of touch with fashion, he just may wear a skirt to his trial.

Good thing DM receives the news papers so he can keep on the latest fashions via advertisement choosing what he may wear to court. Maybe DP has made the green plad suggestion seeing as this advertisement via www is dated January 2014. Pretty sure DM has no internet access while imprisoned. But then if he is going to represent himself, maybe he does have access. MOO.

WADR the link provided is an article, not an advertisement. The article would have beem published in the fashion section of the (physical) newspaper on or around January 10, 2014 - the same time as it was also published to the Spec website. DM's letter referencing the article is from January 22, 2014.

In DM's area (zone 223 http://www.thestar.com/news/crime/k...eractive_map_black_and_white_differences.html) blacks are 6.7 times more likely to be stopped than whites, and that's not even counting those who are categorized Brown or Other...quite an achievement for a rich white boy to get carded. Yeah, they can't charge you with being a jerk, but they can fill out a contact card on you.

A brush with the law includes a visit with a police officer or a contact card. Being jailed isn't a brush with the law, it's a collision.

Humble, those are just words from his lawyer. I really do hope he shows up in court wearing the green plad (sic) Alexander McQueen he had his eye on as that will make him look the part, lolz.

A brush with the law generally means to come in conflict with them, not just come in contact with them. You don't need to be a jerk to have a contact card written up about you, which is why so many want the procedure to stop.

Ikes! I just got the visual. :gasp: Green plaid suit including kilt, long hair.

Millard appeared by video in an orange prison-issue jumpsuit with his hands behind his back. His hair has grown longer and has almost reached his chin.

Millard looked the worst I’ve ever seen him. He’s constantly changing his facial hair and, this time around, perhaps in Movember mode, he had a fu manchu moustache with the ends dangling down off his chin and greasy, chin-length hair. <modsnip>

Who doesn't recognize names like Armani and McQueen?? You don't have to care about fashion to recognize any designer names.

I guess that's another interpretation of what he meant when he said "form follows function". Only DM knows what he himself actually meant.

That's priceless! Clearly a joke IMO.

What a great example of how things used out of context can make things appear to be what they're not.

Who doesn't recognize heavily promoted brandnames. Even I know the names Armani, Hugo Boss etc and my interest in haute couture could fit on the head of a pin without disturbing a single angel. My read of the letter is that the guy was probably just joking with his friend. My other reaction to the letter was along the lines of shock that such a personal and relaxed correspondence has been cleared for publication. Thankfully ABro is very responsible about such things, IMO.

Anyway,

PS: Actually the "form follows function" concept is in reference to architecture, not clothing.

While Mr. Millard, now 27, may have outgrown his attention-getting snack, his old schoolmates’ memories seem to hold steady as Mr. Millard moved into adulthood: He did not flaunt his family’s wealth, he remained rooted in a style of casual plaids and he maintained a dedication to American-built trucks.

Well yes it is clearly a joke, just as the drooping fu manchu mustache is a joke.
