Websleuths is changing our colors

Forcefully changing the colors of white and black may make it unreadable for others using a different Dark or Light Mode.

Also if you change one line of your text to purple and then try to go back to the color chart to forcefully change back to white or black that's when it overrides the programming of the modes, and will go with the forced color selection. Do I have that understood right?

A tip from @fraize if you
need it in the time if you can still edit your post.

Example of text showing up

Forced black
Forced white
Forced Grey
Purple
Regular, bold blue Regular, bold blue Regular, bold blue Regular, bold blue
Regular bold green Regular bold green Regular bold green Regular bold green

Regular bold yellow Regular bold orange Regular bold purple Regular bold red red red

Which do you like the best?

Just so others know, I'm repeating what @fraize pointed out.
Forced black while in Dark Mode - BLACK but if I highlight it and change it to black it is unreadable-- BLACK. I did that while on the Light Mode, made a long post, then I highlighted my text and changed it to the darker black, then when I saw it on Dark Mode it was unreadable. I think other colors from the color chart would show up, but it's the black and white colors if you highlight them to change them that wouldn't show up on the opposite Light or Dark Mode.

I love the new colors but a slightly larger or heavier typeface, at least on the main forum listings, specifically down the right side where the first post in each topic is listed would help a lot.

View attachment 568144@Gemmie hope it’s ok I used your post (-:
You may have noticed (if not, hey look! I did a thing!) that the user-details are now part of the sidebar again. I figured out how to include those in the sidebar without hitting the database too hard.

Thanks all for your patience, and for working with me to make the site better!

@fraize, wonderful, smart, and you did a great thing for us. I absolutely love how the user details under our avatars looks in Dark Mode. Thank You so much for all your work.

JUST MY PROBLEM-- I don't think others using Dark Mode will be able to see my past posts, hundreds of my posts, will have that dark overlay because I used to highlight over my text, then chose the dark black color for MY text. I never thought doing that would cause a problem or imagined we'd get a Dark Mode. I don't think there's anything that can be done now. However, all my past posts are readable in the Light Mode.

Is there something wrong with the Orange-Black we've been using? Cuz.... "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" comes to mind. :(

I still like the Orange-Black Mode better for the contrast between the quote and my reply. Over the years, I've been through several of these WS site changes now. I do like the Dark Mode too, but...

MOO, the Dark Mode needs a color shading difference for the quote, and maybe the border extended around it. Also, the dull grayish color of the quote person's name is hard for me to see. (Good thing I've already had cataract surgery, but I bet some here are struggling to see through a foggy haze.)

Reading a whole page of quotes and replies in the Dark Mode, they start to blend together, especially if it's the same font. I need to see a difference between the quote and the replies.

Here's some comparisons showing the distinct difference between the quote and the reply in the Orange-Black mode. I can barely tell in the Dark Mode the quote from the reply, and it's hard to read the quoter's name.

In Dark Mode, see that line? Why can't it be around the quote maybe or some kind of shading for the quote. JMO, and the name's need to be just a little more readable. BTW, Thanks @Gemmie for being the example. 🤗

Would @Curious Me and @friendlysleuther do me a favor and test something for me?

Could you switch your themes to "Websleuths_2025_Test" temporarily? If you don't see that color-scheme, refresh your page.

After that, can you look at any of your old posts with invisible text in it? I may have a sneaky fix to make it so your old posts will never be invisible.
