I do have issues with the behavior by her mother in court and trying to sell the pedo letters.
.
Respectfully snipped.
But did she really try to do so? There is no credible source to say for certain......its just gossip repeated so often people treat it as fact.

Please refresh my memory.... Is there any record or proof (phone calls, texts etc) that Travis knew JA was coming to his place on June 4th?

There was a long phone conversation on June 2 iIRC and several short calls on June 3.
IMO she used these contacts to make sure Travis would be home if she drove all that way and used all of her money on gas. I do not think she told him she was coming. Why risk him telling someone? She was going to kill him and didn't need him mentioning her even possibly stopping by. She went to a lot of effort to not be traced in AZ at all.

She knew she could get in the house once she arrived. Make up some story about how sorry she was they fought and she wanted to leave him the check for the car payment....and guess what? Brought some KY, can I spend the night :great:

I was reading about Betty Broderick and she was diagnosed with: Histrionic personality disorder (HPD). Sounds like Jodi! This is one that i've never looked at.
***The first trial for BB was a hung jury, the second she was sentenced to two consecutive terms of 15 years to life.

Could be. Most of these come in clusters of various kinds and it's unusual to find people with only one of the personality disorders. At any rate, the DT went to great pains to ensure that none of their experts addressed personality disorders in their assessments. In my view, this was because they knew she was positively glowing with markers and any honest assessment would result in an admission that the client was essentially whackadoodle. (It's a real psych term, I looked it up.) ;)

I don't know who rented the car but in his interview with Flores, Jodi's dad stated that she had told them she needed to leave because, paraphrasing, "I'm going to be blamed for something I didn't do," and that she needed a gun because, "where I'm going, I'll need protection." (Mexico)

IIRC, Sandy Arias rented the car. This is why I am a little conflicted about her. I do feel badly for her but by the same token, if she rented the car under that scenario, she is complicit. You help your child get an attorney, not escape. IMO

This keeps nagging at me....

In the video that's been shown of Travis retelling the event where he was held at gunpoint, and JA is supposedly asleep with her head in his lap, he talked about how he tried to convey emotion with his 'retinas'....
Every time I see that full on face shot of him in the shower, right before she killed him, I remember those words. There is a message in his eyes. No doubt in my mind.

Since we can see the exact spot where the gun was held to Travis' head in this video it is hard to believe that Jodi accidently shot him in the exact same spot. Another coincidence.

O/T, but Just b/c your son is a mechanic and so is my boyfriend, I think you'll appreciate this, one of the first gifts he gave me was a teddy bear with, "Sleep well at night, sleep with a mechanic," embroidered on it's tummy.

That's great! My son's the best mechanic and keeps my 13-year-old car running like a top.

Thats what I want to know! Was ALV shown ALL these video's ALL the interrogation Videos and the mom and dads video? What did they show her. That would be important to me in completing my thought on why she is saying this.

If she truly never followed the case and only sees what the Defense showed her, they may have heavily filtered it so she could testify truthfully after showing the previous 11 everything and they ran out of the Jail.

I think she was only given info by the DT.

This is like watching the smoking in MadMen. The arc of time has turned and it is no longer considered sophisticated or "in" to be killing yourself and bystanders with a nicotine addiction.

When I was raising children, they climbed all over inside the car. If you tied them up with a safety harness, like I did, you were considered a freak, like an extremist prepper hoping for a disaster.

Likewise, the ship has sailed on a man threatening to punch a woman with a closed fist being seen as funny.

I love Jackie Gleason and have fond memories of "The Honeymooners," but displaying acceptance of domestic violence via humor is unacceptable today.

O/T MadMen 2 hour season opener Sunday night 8pm CST. I'd give anything to be transported back in time and hang out with them. Don is Hot!:blushing:

I can relate to this. Long before the Kim Carnes hit in the mid-'80s, someone in my college dorm (1969) told me that my eyes reminded her of Bette Davis. The inimitable actress was not a Hollywood beauty, but her eyes spoke volumes in every one of her films.

Touche'. Hell it could have come from the National Enquirer themselves.

I asked because you said you found her engaging and I did find her manner offensive and insulting. I don't relate to any character in Snow White, pretending I'm 4 or not so it's likely I would have walked out of that seminar and asked for a refund while I still could.

The end of Intimate Partner Abuse is something both genders need to work on together. There wasn't a single male laugh in the 20 or so minutes of tape I watched and listened to. DV isn't a womans issue, it's an issue affecting both genders. We aren't in 1970 anymore and this seminar was 3 years ago. :twocents:

:goodpost:

:gasp: you must be a youngster that you have never heard of the band Steely Dan!

Blackcow!
Deacon blues!
Hey nineteen!
Aja!
Reelin' in the years!
Rikki don't lose that number!
Any major dude will tell you!

You really must Google and listen to them if you never have heard of the band Steely Dan before!

!J/k then again, my other favorite was Little Feat from back then. even my text to talk phone just spelled that correctly! too funny!

:tsktsk: What's the world coming to?

When I saw the crime scene and the autopsy photos, I knew that she was capable of much more than what she had done to Travis.

When I heard that JA had purchased a gun, I knew that she wasn't finished with her killing spree. But I assumed that she was targeting law enforcement.

I now believe that she was also likely to be gunning for Thomas Brown and, perhaps, Marie Hall as well.

Which takes us to another Steely Dan song. Here is a video of Becker and Fagen live in 2006 with "Don't Take Me Alive":

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0bXSeheZLq8

Agents of the law
Luckless pedestrian
I know you're out there
With rage in your eyes and your megaphones
Saying all is forgiven
Mad Dog surrender
How can I answer
A man of my mind can do anything
CHORUS:
I'm a bookkeeper's son
I don't want to shoot no one
Well I crossed my old man back in Oregon
Don't take me alive
Got a case of dynamite
I could hold out here all night
Yes I crossed my old man back in Oregon
Don't take me alive

Can you hear the evil crowd
The lies and the laughter
I hear my inside
The mechanized hum of another world
Where no sun is shining
No red light flashing
Here in this darkness
I know what I've done
I know all at once who I am

CHORUS

One of my faves!! :rocker:

In college, you say?

Not in Annandale, Bard College, perhaps?

And the waft of oleander?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sq8OU-7JDFA

:rocker:

Never heard of the band and I'm no young whipper snapper

Do you live in a cave and/or been raised by wolves? :gasp:

Thanks! That is my favorite Steely Dan tune evah

One of the 1st trials I watched on the old CTV....

Something I have seen are parents that cannot believe the absolute worst about their child, and parents that will go to the extreme to find an alternative explanation. I can see it possible that they have (or maybe just the Mom) accepted the fact that Jodi killed travis, but as soon as they were given an easier to accept reason - he was abusing her- that they could be driven, psychologically, to choose to believe this. I am not defending them, really, but I can in a way empathize - its very hard to accept that your child is full out evil. And maybe that is why the almost impossible to believe becomes now believable. It is infinitely easier to accept that your child killed in an uncontrollable rage at an abuser than it is to believe she killed a good man in cold blood. Jmo, I do feel they are genuine.

YES and that's exactly the dark path i don't want them to go down.. Basically a way to accept she killed someone.. she had to save her own life. I hope they don't but I understand the dynamics if they do

Agreed. I keep hearing him say "knock it off Jodi". In the interrogations she was adamant that he would NOT want those kind of pics taken...and I think she was being truthful there. The pics were taken all so close together and the look on his face is of annoyance, IMO. Even the one on the bed where he is naked and looks at her and has his hand up in the air....I can imagine him saying again, "knock it off" "stop it" or something similar.

What was Dr. DeMarte given to work with? Samuels yellow pad scribbles, ALV's gut feeling, Jodi's fictional journal entries, and whatever's available from Travis? Maybe the crime scene will speak to her in meaningful ways.

The defendant

She evaluated her

Either way it could still be pre-meditated...I'm just curious if it was an ambush, like I suspect...

I may be one of the few, but I think he knew she was coming. I think she told him she wanted to "apologize" in person for whatever she'd done and he finally agreed. But that's JMO.

I have gone back and forth regarding my thoughts about Mr. & Mrs. Arias. Like I said my parents never gave up on me during my addiction, but if I were to slaughter another human being as JA did....I know my parents would beg me to plead guilty and accept responsibility.

I feel like her parents knew what she was, but did not know how to deal with her.

I do have issues with the behavior by her mother in court and trying to sell the pedo letters.

I know my parents would also feel terrible and very apologetic to the Alexander family for what their daughter had done.

I think they are scared of her, especially her mom. I also hate some of Ms. Arias's behavior too but I even think that a lot of that is out of fear.

People try to please bullies when they aren't very strong and that's how I see her parents. I just don't think Jodi's mom is very strong...I think she caves right and left just to keep Jodi's rage at bay. My heart breaks for both parents. I think they've been beaten down.

I saw an interview with the Virginia Tech shooter's mother and siblings. They were all terrified of him.

As a fellow mechanic of the HVAC variety, I think we should have a "tradesman day" just like we have a "secretaries day"..... Just don't bring us flowers...maybe a beer!:rocker:

I've always had great respect for skilled tradesmen, but especially so in this economy. Marriage minded young women would be wise to leave the bar scene with its "players" and hang out at Home Depot.
