Im just getting back up to speed on the case, but the similarities in the defense really jumped out at me. It seems Marys testimony is what turned the case in her favor. The jury believed her even tho there was really no proof of the sexual abuse except that the defense showed the jury a pair of white platform-heel shoes and a wig Mary Winkler said her husband wanted her to wear during sex. And Pornographic photos she identified as coming from their home computer were entered as evidence. As for the physical abuse, her father suspected abuse but Mary denied it to him and she never received any medical treatment for injuries

Matthew and his wife argued about her reckless dealings a day before the killing, say prosecutors, and it was his anger toward her that led her to plan his murder and leave him dying on the floor.
The mere thought of that case makes me want to hurl.:banghead: I try not to think about it because it makes my BP rise. Imo it is one of the blackest marks on the justice system in TN history.:furious:
Her attorneys were big city slick lawyers. The Prosecutor a county man in a small conservative town of 4000 people. The DT picked this town because if it had been moved to Memphis or another large town Winkler would be in prison for 51 years like she deserved. They knew the mere word 'sex' would shock the jury's conservative sensibilities.
The one shoe suddenly appeared out of the blue right before the trial along with the wig both that never looked like they had been worn. Winkler was the one home where the computer was and the photos weren't even that racy. Just naked women in hooker shoes. The
pics had been viewed one time and then deleted. I think it was MW looking at
to see how other women looked. LOLOLOL! Mary said she never looked at the pictures but looked at the wall instead but Ms. Meek and Mousy gets up there and identifies all of them.:floorlaugh:
There was never any evidence that she was abused whatsoever. All she did is dress up in court to look downtrodden, meek and mousy like the DT told her to dress. Never mind in RL outside of the courtroom she had her a man, wore makeup, jewelry, went to bars and smoked.
Grave injustices happen in our justice system and its far from perfect but thank goodness they don't happen often. Some jurors can be hoodwinked by the shock and awe like in the Winkler and Anthony cases where the DT had no ethical boundaries.
As far as this case it may be the same caliber of lawyers as the other two teams who played the victim game and the results was favorable but beyond that ............that is it, imo.
These jurors are critical thinkers and aren't going to drink the Kool-Aid.
They are going to mete out justice for Travis. I don't have one doubt in Juan Martinez' ability to bring justice for what JA did to Travis. In fact I think she is closer to death row than ever before the more the defense case goes on. The defense case has not helped her............it has revealed just how guilty she truly is.:furious:
