Jodi was such a shiny baby(best mitigation ever!!) and she grew the best pot. She only kicked us when we really deserved it and even then we didn't bruise all that much. She hardly ever robbed us and when she did it was only to steal stuff she needed to kill her ex. She knows how to make a bazillion Margaritas each shift. She didn't kick our dogs too often and not at all after they ran away. She never ever ran after them to kick them again. She only de-edified me once. :great:

You aren't a juror (none of us are), so you don't have all the evidence to sift through and deliberate as a jury will have. So what I'm saying is there isn't a whole lot of difference between your position and mine - we have both determined she is guilty of first degree murder and the case hasn't even gone to the jury yet.

That would be called contrary to the innocent until proven guilty concept, because until a jury returns with a conviction, nobody is guilty.

I guess I feel ganged up on for my opinion when it isn't all that different from anyone else's here. :waiting:

I agree that probably caucasians brought to trial are likely to be guilty. I'm not so sure that's true of african-americans however.

I could convict JA today based on what I do know and sleep like a baby because I know all the things that are too prejudicial for the jury to know.

I think we have all heard enough and we have seen more than enough to know she is lying and is guilty. At this point there is not much defense could bring in to help her. Reading her journals about Travis and how she doesn't care he's dating others is sooooooo shallow. Sticks out like a sore thumb. jmo

Just on the 'stabbed first' theory.

I realise that is where the ME left things as far as the order of events, but he was never definite in his statement. He mentioned decomposition as being a factor here, and a few of you have highlighted this.

It seems that most who think that Travis was stabbed first, feel that Jodi stabbed him (in the chest) whilst he was sitting down.

I can't see that really. One would have to presume if he was sitting, that he was sitting in the same 'knees-up' position the last photograph of him indicates. How could Jodi get a clear path to the chest? The knees would have been in the way, and I don't know, it just doesn't seem plausible.

I tend to lean toward him being shot first, because if he was in that seated position, it works with the bullet trajectory. But I am not wedded to this.

I think if Travis was stabbed first, then the most likely scenario is that Jodi asked Travis to face camera. We don't see this in the images obviously, but she could have asked him to kneel and face towards camera - most likely with eyes shut - there's no reason why this wouldn't be a plausible type of image she may have said she had in mind. He may have been asked to stand... not sure - but from this position Travis is completely vulnerable to an aggressive knife thrust to the chest. And the tragic events unfold further from that point.

Sorry if that has been put forward before.

I do understand your point, but I didn't come into the case with any presuppositions -- that's the difference. It was your statement that you assume all defendants guilty unless proven innocent that caused the disagreement. Otherwise, I can understand what you're getting at from a logical perspective -- but if we didn't have that provision, there would be no jury charge regarding reasonable doubt -- which is a pretty important charge and is intended as a safeguard against overzealous and under-supported charges by the state.

In any case, it's a matter of individual judgment as well, right? There will be twelve jurors deliberating, and all of them will have formed their own opinions regarding the evidence. Some of them will have reached their opinions earlier than others. There may be attempts by some to sway the others to their way of thinking. Underlying all of that deliberation, however, is the fundamental sense of the importance of what they are doing -- because if they are not sufficiently diligent, they could actually convict an innocent person. That concern only exists because the foundation of our system of law regards the accused as innocent until proven guilty.

The Errol Morris film virtually proved that the Pros knew from the outset who the real killer of a Cop was, but chose to prosecute someone innocent to whom they could give the DP. Actual murderer was underage. Innocent man was convicted and was on death row.

This probably happens far more than we would like to think. Something the innocence project would later prove.

The film is riveting and something we all should have in the back of our minds is capable of happening to each of us if we are in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Thin Blue Line Great film, highly recommended. A much lauded benchmark documentary.

She should start by throwing out the idiotic, nonsensical Snow White metaphor.

A sociopath had been discarded, confronted and threatened of being exposed and stood to loose everything she was determined to achieve, husband,home,wealth,status and security. The number of stab wounds, near decapitation and shot to the head reflect the extreme rage and contempt Jodi felt toward Travis. She wanted him to suffer badly for every rejection and insult he had given to her.

Absolutely, and that's exactly why she isn't your average bear. "Normal" people lick their wounds, regroup and move on gladly to make better choices in picking a potential significant other. He was 'just not that into her', other than for friends with benefits, and it appears to me that he was open and honest about that and she pretended she was cool with it. It was a surface mutual agreement. Jodi had another agenda she kept hidden in order to not rock the boat and lose him entirely.
He may have been a cad, maybe not.. but that does not equal an abuser nor a batterer in this situation.
He was honest about his feelings, she was not.
Just compounding on your description, I don't read it as pro-JA.. I get what you are saying and you have her pegged.
