Hi chijojo, I am very sorry about your mom.

Others will chime in, but from what I know, ALV approached Sam as she was exiting the witness stand and said something to her. Court was over for the day and no jury was present. There has been speculation to what was said but I don't think confirmed at this time.

I believe Katie was in the courtroom and did witness it happen. Hopefully she can enlighten you more. Unfortunately, these threads move so fast that when I have to work I sometimes move through them fast myself and may have missed something in the meantime.

K

((thank you)) and I agree I can't keep up, usually two pages behind.

If something happened to me and my character was based solely on my Internet browsing history during this trial, I would be screwed.

Heh. :)

I play on a quiz game site too, and my browsing history is the probably weirdest thing anyone would ever want to see!

Ok, so I missed that there was a mistrial motion from the DT because their witness approached a family member.

I know about the incident but didn't know this. Why/How could that even be possible?

K

I don't think it is possible, but I'm no legal expert, that's for sure. This is the defense's own witness, so I don't think they can complain. I think ALV got a smackdown from the judge, and I'm not sure what else can happen, but I don't think there can be a mistrial for that.

I'm watching yesterday's trial video and I have to say how insulted I am that the DT's line of questioning of ALV had her intimating that Jodi "overreacted". OMGoodness!

Jodi said Travis was angry that she'd left a picture at his house when she moved back to Yreka. She always seemed to leave something there to give her a reason to return, like telling Flores she'd like to get a few things she'd left there. I think Jodi testified on direct that TA's late May rant was in response to her renewed efforts to give him imaginary pedo pamphlets to help him with his nonexistent problem.

That's George Costanza's trick... :floorlaugh:

90 % of the time when a woman kills her partner and claims abuse, I will side with the woman and argue that it could have happened. 98% of the time I will side with a DV advocate because they are the ones in the field who works with and easily recognizes the signs of abuse and the usual responses.

But in this case, I don't believe JA was abused. She was to aggressive in her texts, too upright and moral on the stand (like someone is going to believe her after her texts and vids). If TA was abusive, he would have been more controlling. And she would never have been allowed to move away. If she dared to move, he would have been on her constantly to move back. May have even become frightening if charm didn't work.

And I also don't believe the DV "expert."

It isn't that I don't think ALV knows her field. I think she does. I just think she deliberately stretched it in this case. The statistics she quotes are right or are close. The descriptions are good. But when she applies them to this case she leaves things out, she over applies, she exaggerates.

Why? Tossing around several theories about that but should probably leave it off the board.

I do think that ALV has caused great harm in the field of DV advocacy.

My bosses at my last job both had kids quite late in life (by my standards, anyway). One of them was separated and a lot of the women he was dating were still looking to have kids. I said to the other one, would you marry someone who wanted to start all over with a baby at your age? He said yes. Go figure.

My Dad was 53 when I was born. Mom was 20 years younger. And I have a brother 2 1/2 years younger than me :) My Dad lived to see 91 and always looked and lived at least twenty years younger than his 'age'. He never missed a beat. In fact, I think he did more with us because of his age. He lived on his own, cleaned better than I ever will. Sad thing is, my parents never expected that my Dad would outlive my Mom, especially with her being so much younger than Dad. She passed first, he passed seven years later.
I had great parents, but that being said, I am 53 and if I was having to look forward to my first, now....O M G.....I think I'd pass out LOL

Thank you. As I have stated in an earlier post, the Geek Squad almost outed me one day in Best Buy when they fixed my laptop.

I can only say...I lied. Well it was not a lie, I just threw out reasonable doubt that my kid is in college and well research is research. :floorlaugh:

This may earn post of the day! :floorlaugh::floorlaugh: Thank God for kids, huh? They do come in useful at times.

The smartest thing Casey did was not take the stand. Unlike Einstein, she knew better

And whenever I think of JA up on the stand I wonder if it was her that made it happen or the DT actually thought she was likeable enough or sounded plausible enough to put her up there.

And then I wonder where we would be today without her testimony. We got quite a bit of contradictory information from it and embellishments.

Do you think when JM realized or was made aware that she was taking the stand he did a little jig? It has to be a Prosecutors dream.

And IIRC JA and MM were not 'officially' dating or anything, just hanging out from time to time. JA thought they were a couple MM didn't.

Its hard to keep up with all of it. But, I agree with you. Just the act of driving 90 miles out of your way to confront the OW is a hostile act IMHO.

I can only think what I would do were I in either of those positions, and can only say no way am I confronting some girl ever. And if I was the OW there is not a chance I would even reply or say a word to someone knocking on my door if I didn't even know she existed. I would be letting MM handle her and not seeing him ever again either.

So, its really hard to know what someone would do and then say because she didn't argue or fight it wasn't hostile.

She clearly doesn't know when to accept that a RELATIONSHIP is over. Having RELATIONS (sex) is not a RELATIONSHIP! she thinks because she's talking on the phone with you, or letting you in her backdoor, she's in a relationship with these men. People have casual sex with no strings, friends with benefits arrangements like nothing these days. The fact that she refuses to see the difference is the reason why she continues to act out in her relationships (confronting, evil letters, stalking, slashing tires, hacking into private business..etc) I'm going to assume that she had no girlfriends to talk to because someone would surely have given her a clue.

It's that series of angry statements that led me to conclude Jodi made up the story about Travis and the child photo. He would never have spoken to someone (like that) if that person had the power to destroy him.

As to why or what made him so angry? I doubt we will learn anything during the trial. It was probably ruled too prejudicial.
----
Do you think there's anyone who DOES know what Jodi did that spurred those comments? The evil? The scam? The hurt? To me his words were so telling, and gave him a chance to tell his side in a way.

What is your favorite "Juan-ism?"

Please share your favortie Juan line! I'm making a word/phrase cloud cross-stitch & need your help!

I like, "Yes or no, ma'am, yes or no."

But my all time favorite line from any trial is "Were you crying when you were stabbing him?"

no, there's not, as far as i know. in reading the legal thread, it doesn't look like whatever ALV is returning for has to do with sam at all.

the DT has a mistrial motion and part of it concerns the 'intimidation' of its experts, and claims it's preventing them from giving JA the representation she's entitled to. that MIGHT be what this is about. but AZ lawyer seems to think it's something else she's pissed the judge off about and she's under subpoena to return about that. we'll find out some day, i'm sure.

I am kind of wondering if the hearing Tuesday has something to do with Alyce asking for a break, 20 minutes before lunch, then claiming sick and ending the day.

I would like to know how Wilmott knew Alyce was sick when nothing was said (per the video). You did see Alyce look at her watch numerous times, then Wilmott look towards a wall clock (perhaps) then saying "May we approach". Wilmott may have known all along that Alyce had an appointment to keep.

Maybe later, Alyce was seen out and not sick.

I don't know about anyone else, but I am still :banghead: from ALV's "No" answer yesterday in response to the question about whether the physical abuse - a brutal murder with gun and knife - that Jodi inflicted on Travis was worse than the verbal (emails, texts, etc.) abuse that Travis inflicted on Jodi. I hope the jury is as :furious: about this as I am and that LaViolette's extreme bias towards the defendant resonates loud and clear with each and every one of them.

Oh gurl. A few years ago around the rise of YouTube, a friend forwarded an e-mail with a bunch of YouTube-esque links. They were not clear links.

It didn't look like this: callsforjustice.wordpress.com/tag/juan-martinez/

It looked like this but was called "Not your mother's YouTube" or something like that.

It was YouPorn.

:what::what::what::what:

I was just ... and when I tried to reply to the message, I was so flustered that I kept clicking that stupid link. I tried clearing my browser history and clearing the cache and nothing worked. It still kept popping up as a suggestion.

I was never happier when that computer died because I was always worried the Geek Squad would see it and smirk.

That site ... Lord have mercy.

The shrinking Violettes case can be completely discredited or
"De-edifyed" by one jurors question.

You heard Jodi's side of the story, but you didn't hear Travis's
side.

Case closed.
Carry on.

This is a youtube sleuther clip worth watching. Did you all realise it took Juan asking three times, including two approaches and a time out for ALV to admit Travis was extremely afraid of JA and her stalking behaviour based on the IM conversation between Travis and Regan? Even at the end ALV didn't admit extremely. I want to know what the question was Juan didn't ask! It does look like she needed a timeout to admit this....

Thank you for sharing that. Whoever put it together has the (true) IQ of Einstein.

My dad was 44 when I was born, and 55 when he died. That's pretty rare, though, and I wouldn't discourage anyone from having a baby for that reason. But just from the energy standpoint, not for me!

My sister pointed out to me recently that when our mom was her age, her granddaughter was 10. My sister's daughter hasn't had any children yet, so my sister will probably be dealing with an infant grandchild at 70.
