Are we sure the camping trip wasn't just another lie? I had the idea she was trying to leave the country--Mexico, maybe? She knew they were closing in on her.

She quit her job the day before. She was not coming back...
She was leaving the country imo

I would bet it was mailed the 25th,
the 26th he cut her off...

IMO he would never have gotten it after that day.

May 25, 2008 was a Sunday and the following day was Memorial Day, a legal holiday. Even if she had put it in a mailbox on May 25, the earliest it would be processed by the USPS is Tuesday. That is still a long way until June 4 for him to receive it and not cash it or deposit it into his own account. As someone so kindly posted earlier, her account balance when she deposited the $400. into it was $148.+ change, therefore the check would not have cleared. I will concede, however, that she could have written it on the 25th, intending at that time to send it, but with the texts on the 26th changed her mind and put her murder plan into motion. That is not what I believe though.

MOO

On the morning of June 3, after visiting with DB, JA makes two deposits into her Washington Mutual accounts. By all accounts, JA is known to have been 'strapped for cash'.... I've read some speculate here that JA may have stolen a ring from TA.

What's the likelihood that she indeed had stolen the ring, and then sold it to DB and the money was actually proceeds from this?

This would be a good reason why DB would want to stay in her 'good graces' and continue to be her ally....because she had him on receiving stolen property.

Wait DIDNT Gus searcey become engaged? Maybe she sold him the engagement ring? Jodie is about to pay for her actions. I think what one more month before trials over?

Are we going into rebuttal this week or does the defence have another witness?

If the defendant's license plate was upside down since she was in CA, how did the checkpoint folks miss that?

She was stopped in South Jordan by LE, and fixed it there.

This may be a stretch but since she thought of renting car, gas cans etc. so no one would ever think she was in Nevada could she have put the license plate upside down when she crossed into cal hoping to get pulled over to show she was not in Arizona.

In fairness, he did say on the sex tape that he loved the pigtails.

Not that that is perverse in any way, just pointing it out.

He did, but I have a feeling he was saying that in the way men say things like, "No, those jeans don't make your butt look fat!" and "Don't worry, honey, burned biscuits are my favorite!" You know what I mean? They say what they think we want to hear. He was just keeping the conversation going and trying to make her happy. I don't believe for a minute he really had a "rape fantasy." I think he thought SHE had a rape fantasy and he was just going along with it for her benefit. MOO.

He didn't say blood, he said "koolaid stains" that were untested. Presumably they were brown/red in color.

Yes he said 'Kool-Aid stains which had to be red or dark rusty stains.

Remember when Juan was cross examining Ms. Udie or whatever her name was and he asked her did she 'blood' in the vehicle when she and JA were sitting there talking and she said 'no because it was already dark.'

I think the jury picked up on the stains being blood.

The check was a sham..........she knew Travis was never going to be able to cash that check when she wrote it. He may have never even seen the check before he was murdered. She may have written the check after she killed him so it would make her look better like she was paying him like she had promised.

I don't think she wanted it out after he was murdered to the PPL people and to the Mormon church members that she hadn't even paid Travis anything for the BMW. Remember she was also shopping for a Mormon husband.

Lol, remember in the Flores interview where she had the ***** to ask if he thought his family would deposit the check or not?
For the love of God woman!

I don't know if this has been discussed.

This is an entry from Jodi's journal, written before she murdered Travis Alexander. It was read on Nancy Grace last week.

"I Love him, I could not possibly love him not, though I wish I could stop. Turn it off like a light switch. Duct tape it down so it can't turn back on. Or better yet, just cut the circuit. Cut off its life source, dead in a second. Lifeless. A meaningless network of wires that do and mean nothing."

You know how they say there s some truth spoken even in lies? When LV said JA was injured slicing apples, the first thought I had was, sure..Adam's apples..

Apologies if anyone already said this..

Great insight!

I don't know...he sounded pretty enthusiastic.

I got the distinct impression that to the roommates the place was little more than an upscale flop-house.

It was somewhere to keep their stuff, may have slept there on occasion, eaten or showered, etc.

But, for example, we know that it was not unusual for them to eschew the washing machine and dryer for several days on end.

Careful, I resemble that remark! :floorlaugh:

True, actually. I do laundry once a week. And that's it. Seriously. I have better things to do.

Just out of curiosity, has there been a post where someone has researched BWS/self defense in murder cases?

I've tried to do some look up, but a lot of the data is old. I have not seen many successful cases and in the few where it is successful, the woman has turned herself in. None of the cases I've found come anywhere near as gruesome as this murder and all of the women lived with the victim.

Based on the evidence presented in this case and case history precedent, JA is going to find herself convicted of first degree murder.

Oh I know it would not have but I do think she did mail it. Maybe even post dated it knowing the 25th and 26th were not banks days....
Another manipulation.IMO
no way she took that check to TA the day she murdered him...
if she had she would not have left it. She could not locate it.
That is why she asked det Flores about it.
extra $ for her to flee with...
just my take on it...

Travis was no dummy... he would have checked with her bank
to verify her acct balance prior to cashing it.

I have had to do that with people... it sucks... but ya cash it when it's good...

I think I posted that it was to be with gus searcey? I. Could be Wong.

I saw people speculating that Gus could have been on the conference call, but I heard that many people were on the call, and Travis was supposed to be one of the primary speakers.

Here's the killers June 11th journal entry:

"Travis is dead. What happened?!? Travis, what is this?"....

What a crock. I hope we all remember ALV and her apology to Jodi. ALV told JUan she apologized ' because the journals were not meant to be seen by others.'

Clearly, that is incorrect. These journals were FABRICATED for LE consumption.

I know. I agree. This is the worst thing I have ever read.

The beginning of this June 10th journal-to-be-read-by-the-cops:

"This is horrendous. The most awful thing I've ever had to deal with. I am in total shock right now. It hasn't fully hit me. This can't really be real. This just can't be happening. I spoke w/ Bishop Layton. He confirmed Travis is dead. What happened?!? Travis, what is this?..."

Knowing the depraved act JA committed on a decent human being is too horrible, but the several times I have read this entry, when it really sunk in, feeling the calculated evil of this, on top of the murder, does something terrible to me.

Knowing ALV knew this "journal," and not only apologized to the murderer, but lied frequently to aide her and maligned the murdered victim, causes me to intensely hope there will be true and righteous retribution.

Tricia talking about Donovan tweeting for JA w/Beth Karas and Holly Hughes from HLN . .. .

http://www.blogtalkradio.com/websle...as-true-crime-radio-sunday-night-8-pm-eastern

JA presumably tells Donovan what to tweet . . . . usually 2 rows of people, her Mom, her siblings, Donovan, and another girl friends from years ago . . another row of people behind them.

Brian Carr claimed to have visited JA . . . Beth didn't remember seeing his name on the visitor log - may have to look again . . JA has distanced herself from this person.

Beth had to leave the building but
Katiecoolady . .. Holly Hughes and Tricia

Jury system still an honor system . . . . judge admonishes them every day - only way for jury system to work you have to trust the jurors. Holly suspect some of them have seen some coverage of this case but doesn't believe anyone will fess up to it. Judge will attempt to avoid a mistrial . . . we are far enough along . . . any appeal is based on what is typed on that court record.

Tricia asks what would the scenario be for a mistrial?
Manifest necessity . . .there is way to insure going forward this is a fair trial . . something has tainted our jury so excessively it is a "manifest necessity". members of jury are told not to talk, deliberate yet they are on lunch breaks, bathroom breaks, walk together, in room together . . . . they can't talk about it.

it would have to be something so bad to go for mistrial.

Juror that was excused was actually very ill . . . Katiecoollady feels defense really wanted him eliminaited (her speculation) - he was trying to stay on but he was eliminated - not his decision but he was feeling ill.

they cannot continue without at least 12 jurors . . .

Holly Hughes feels Katiecool is correct- find is strange (insane) they would dismiss someone for a cough. Jurors have to be clear headed enough - if he takes medications for this it might make him drowsy.

Katiecool adds her own paranoia piece . . . her friend Katie having her picture taken . . defense have limited . . . Katiecool happened to have someone take pictures of some of the group . . a small group to decompress . . . katiecool feels ALV went to dinner @ the number one place she would be photographed during dinner.

we started with 18 jurors now have 16 left
