weekend discussion: discuss the trial here #141

I'm truely puzzled about the pictures as I know I had a Kodak back then and bought a Sony for our business. I traded back and forth the SD card all the time as the Kodak software was on our office computer to upload pictures of our work. Boytownmom (my apologies if I mispelled your name BoyTwn) had a good observation too about the dates, time & transferring pics. Now to find it.

I have a tripod and a mini tripods that cameras can sit on a flat surface or even a rock, but I think Jodi might have had a mini tripod to take those pics. Easy to do and doesn't take but a minute or so to set up the direction to focus on. That large lounge chair and ottoman or on top of pillows could reach the height needed to take JA's and TA's pics. There's all kinds of ways to take different angles. I've taken thousands of pictures and actually, some are quite good. I just take a lot and hope for the best.

I'd be happy knowing if that is possible or not. I don't get to read all the time. This case & thread moves so so fast at times. kwim?

Thanks for your comments. I tried to duplicate the full-length shots of her on his bed with a professional tripod that extends up to 60" high and I could not get close enough to the bed because the tripod 'feet' couldn't get within 18" of the bed. With Travis having a sleigh bed no tripod could get that close either. Any bed frame, really, would preclude getting far enough in. Two of the shots are REALLY over her body, as well as a third that we can faintly see over Detective Flores' shoulder when he was interrogating JA.

JA testified TA was standing at the edge of the bed when the first ones were taken, then he crawled on the bed. I agree on both points. Someone standing at the edge of the bed could get those shots. If you have a tripod, try it and you'll see what I mean about it not being able to get far enough over the bed and high up enough to photograph her without a person actually standing there.

The full-length photos of JA were taken from the side of the bed nearest the decorative divider hiding his exercise machine. The armoire in the corner is too far away and at totally the wrong angle.

I agree a mini-tripod could take the front gynecological photo, but not the second. That's too far up for a mini-tripod. Not to mention, do you know how long it would take to set up a blind shot like that? All those photos were taken in very short order, the first shot of TA only 50 seconds after the "tootsie roll" shot of JA.

Yes, the thread moves so fast I miss most of it! :)

Thanks for your comments. I tried to duplicate the full-length shots of her on his bed with a professional tripod that extends up to 60" high and I could not get close enough to the bed because the tripod 'feet' prevented the camera in the center of the tripod to get any closer to 18" of the bed. Not even over it, but 18" away. With Travis having a sleigh bed no tripod could get that close either. Any bed frame, really, would preclude getting far enough in. I wouldn't believe JA about not being able to crawl through it. She probably just said that to deflect from her stalker activities.

Zach had lived there since January and yet never had a key. He said Travis never locked the doors. Why would someone crawl when they could walk right in? Though I must admit, the visual of JA crawling through a doggie door is too funny to resist, even though that apparently didn't happen. :floorlaugh:

Im glad you mentioned the doggy door. It reminded me of Det. Flores question to Jodi. He asked her how she got into Travis' house. She would not answer the question. At this point in time, she did admit she was there. He asked her if she rang the bell, did Travis let you in. She started talking instead about the laws of attraction. She said if you leave a door unlocked, nothing bad will happen. If you lock a door, it means you believe something bad could happen. Im paraphrasing, but this is what she said. So, he asked her again the same question. She went off on another analogy. I believe Travis did not know she was coming. Even if phone records showed she called him, it does not show the nature of the call. The last time she saw him was in April. He cancelled going to see her twice. Thats because he did not want to see her. She said they were going to see each other when he got back from Cancun. But Jodi referenced that that probanly would not have happened.

I remember that too, and I don't think Travis was expecting her.

Somewhere along the line, I remember a friend of Travis' saying that he left the doors unlocked in the day. I don't remember hearing from anybody that he left the doors unlocked at night. That's unheard of in this day and age.

When Mimi and her friends went to his house, they used a code to get in through the garage, they didn't just walk through an unlocked door.

We were posting about this very thing at the same time. I remember hearing that Travis didn't lock his doors in the day. Did Zach also say the doors were unlocked at night? When his friends found him, didn't they use a code to enter the garage? If the doors were always unlocked, why didn't they just walk in the front door?

Anyway, I don't understand how the doggie door was installed. It is curious that nothing permanent seems to be installed on the doors. If the sliding door would simply butt up to the doggie door, wouldn't that mean that anything above the doggie door would be open and bugs could fly in? The space would have to be wide enough for a dog to go in and out, so that's not just an inch or so. Isn't that really odd? It would also mean that hot air would be constantly entering the home and he'd be paying to cool it all the time.

BTW - I never made my way over to the sequence thread to post, but I did see your response to me about the time his roommate was expected home. Thank you for the information!!

Does anyone recall what JA's purpose was for going to Pasadena, CA, and isn't that where she claimed she decided to head to TA's?

I was just playing with MapQuest, and the route from Monterey/Salinas to SLC would have been very different than the route from Pasadena to SLC. I thought I recalled she said she decided to go to TA's when she was in Pasadena, I'm trying to understand why she went to Pasadena in the first place.

TIA.

Allyne - go back and look at the photo of the back porch you posted. I just noticed something. There is something lying on the ground that looks like it is the correct height and width of half of a sliding glass door. Doesn't it look like there is a cut out for a doggie door? I'm thinking that could be what he had in there.

Hmm, good thinking! Is it high enough though? It's more than wide enough.

I don't know. It's hard to tell from a picture, but when you zoom in, it does look taller and there is some kind of cut out there. It would explain how no bugs or hot air could get in. Interesting.

ETA: I should say that it appears to be some sort of cut out from what I can see.

This is an entry from Jodi's journal, written on 9/2/2007

"I Love him, I could not possibly love him not, though I wish I could stop. Turn it off like a light switch. Duct tape it down so it can't turn back on. Or better yet, just cut the circuit. Cut off its life source, dead in a second. Lifeless. A meaningless network of wires that do and mean nothing."

I hope that Napoleon lives long enough for Deannna to bring him to the victim impact statement... I know I know... the courts won't allow it.. But I wish that poor pup could talk and say what he wants to say to the killer...
If for no other reason than to tell Travis when he meets him in Heaven... I told that b**** off good! I missed you my friend!!!

ok I'm signing off for the night... bawling yet again... :(

This made me cry. As I'm sitting here typing this, tears are streaming down my cheeks. And I'm not a crier. But thinking about Napoleon bounding up to Travis in heaven...okay, I need to pull myself together! Just woke up and already blubbering.

:seeya: morning

looking forward to today, just hoping we start and the defense rests and then its Juantime but i shant get my hopes up

I don't know if this has been discussed.

This is an entry from Jodi's journal, written before she murdered Travis Alexander. It was read on Nancy Grace last week.

Wow...in her own words how she will kill him in the future. Crazy.

I think there is going to be an issue. Alice is trying to back peddle. She claims she misspoke when she said Jodi shot Travis in the closet. She will probably say she misspoke when she said Jodi said the knife was on the night stand. Jodi was looking down and did not flinch. She was probably thinking "oh shiz"

Please pardon me if it's been discussed already....

I haven't seen the photos ya'll are talking about and unfortunately have to go to bed. Also just read the last of this thread, but isn't it possible Travis had an insert with a doggie door for the patio door? I found many different styles on a google search.

It would seem to me a discerning man with a nice home like Travis owned, that he would have gotten a nice looking doggie door. I would have.

This site has many different types of doggie door inserts:
http://www.petdoors.com/pet-doors/manual-pet-doors/sliding-glass-door-pet-doors.html

I'm sure they have a locking device built in, but if not you can do like I've always done for added security on sliding doors when I lived in apartments. Just cut a broom stick to fit firmly in place along the bottom groove on the inside and no one can slide the door open.

Of course, I defer to all of you who have spent time looking at the photos tonight... I just haven't had time to look back in the thread, must go to bed now.

PS... Is there a chance that police had already sent the doggie door to the lab to be processed before photos we have access to were taken?

:dunno: :cat: :offtobed:

But before I go to bed.... :offtobed:

Do we think the Ms. Wong testimony will be televised or live streamed this morning? I'm just wondering before I set my alarm... or just sleep in?

Theres a poem I have to find. Its about seeing your pets in heaven. I would like to post it. My vet sent it to me when i lost my cat Nikki. I got her when she was 6 months old. She sucked on my thumb to go to sleep. I thought she would grow out of it. After all, she was a kitten. She sucked on my thumb for the next 22 years to go to sleep. I miss her.

I'm a big crier, go through so many kleenex every day. :( Maybe Deanna can take an 8x10 glossy of Napolean for the victim impact with her. I think poor little Napolean should have his voice too. After all, in today's world our pets are so very much like our children.

Pretty interesting reading. Especially interesting is the "JODI”S GUN-TOTING CAMPING TRIP" at the very bottom of the article. Do we know who the guys were she was planning to go with? I bet they are counting their lucky stars about now!!

http://kristinarandle.com/blog/jodi-arias-essays/

Very, very interesting read. I learned something new.

Anthony Vaeena and Zion Lovingier, two of Jodi’s former friends, described a time when she invited herself on a surfing trip with them and a third man. They were surprised by her boldness and were uncomfortable with the idea of her attending. They subsequently changed their plans in an effort to discourage Jodi from going. They told her they would be traveling to a deserted beach in Mexico. They told her that she would be the only woman on the trip but it didn’t matter to Jodi. They described her as bizarre and assertive. She was not too shy to “scoot up” to Anthony, according to his interview. The surfing trip story is reminiscent of the all-male camping trip she planned prior to her July 2008 arrest. Inviting herself on an all-male trip, is the antithesis of a shy woman with low self-esteem.

Also this is a powerful statemnt:

Most importantly, for a period of approximately 10 days, Jodi acted as her own lawyer. She fired her defense team and decided that she, and she alone, would become the defense attorney. She went to court and acted as her attorney. Her life was on the line and though she had never gone to law school, she chose herself as the best attorney available. Is this someone with low self-esteem? Jodi was a high school dropout, with no life accomplishments, yet she believed that she was better equipped to represent herself in a death penalty case, than a team of highly skilled lawyers.
