Excellent point. Had not thought about the humiliation. Returning to hometown after all the talk about marriage. Further humiliation about her future being a lowlife waitress in northern CA for the rest of her life....she thought she was better than that.

The same place TN, SC, NC, AL, and MS, i.e. the deep south, are. My dh recently retired as a school admin in NC and GA, and even though corporal punishment may remain on the books as allowed, it's rarely if ever administered in these "look for a reason to sue" days. In his long career he's never heard of anyone being paddled by a school employee. When he started teaching, I think there was an option of having a parent come in and deliver the whacks in lieu of suspension iirc.

When I was in 3rd grade in SC my teacher hauled off and REALLY slapped me sideways across my face in class. She had asked me if I was chewing gum and I said no.. I wasn't; it was right after Halloween and I was chewing wax from one of those liquid filled things. I was a very precise child and answered truthfully. I got smacked before I could clarify. Since I was in an "accelerate" class I was TOTALLY mortified and I blocked everything that happened after that so far out of my memory that I don't remember to this day what happened next. I do know I was still in that class till 4th grade. Wheew... excuse the personal rant, please!

It's hard telling - she could have really REALLY pushed things. Maybe a faked pregnancy or said she was pregnant, TA gave her money for a abortion and found out she was never pregnant. it's hard telling. It was enough to REALLY upset him where he threatened her "reputation" that she perceives she has.

For all we know - she could have been harassing his female friends and maybe one that he "liked".

Good morning peeps!
We all know that Jodi lies but I am fascinated by the lies that are told for no reason. I was struck by the lie she told Flores during the interrogation: my family will never come to Arizona to see me......she went on to say they never came to see her when she had a nice house and pool. Now look at her mother's statement....Jodi asked where we would stay if we came to visit her because the parents could not stay at Jodi's. Mother went on to explain that Jodi was afraid they would "snoop". Why did she bring this up while she's being questioned about a murder?

Just catching up, and probably somebody has answered this.

IMO all her worry about her family was planned to feed into her story about why she didn't contact LE about the ninja story. The ninjas threatened her family and she was willing to do anything to save them. It's not like she actually gave a ratz azz about them.

DH and I are going to the opera this afternoon, followed by dinner at our favorite downtown dining spot. During the Scott Peterson trial there was, of course, a "Scott is Innocent" site who at one point decided I was both a prostitute and a member of the "Asian Mafia". I never knew an "Asian Mafia" existed and I'm quite anglo so....that was interesting.
