What case really burns your butt?

Hello. I couldn't make the PDF link work either. The couple featured on the Kansas deck 5 of clubs are James and Diana McAtee of Ohio.

James Lee McAtee and his wife Diana M. McAtee were found stabbed to death October 13, 1977 in Grandview Plaza, Geary county, Kansas. He was being medically discharged from the US Army for permanent damage to the ligaments in his arm. It is believed they were murdered for his discharge pay.
James was born 29, June 1958, Diana was born 6 June 1959. They have memorials at findagrave.com.

An effort is being made to test any remaining evidence using new technology.
That is all I could find using this phone. Hope you have better luck.
There is VERY little to nothing on this case, agreed.

Susan Powell
I am from Utah so I followed the case from the beginning. Her parents are still so broken. The whole Powell family are twisted. The fact that the police had evidence but allowed Josh so much freedom. I am certain Josh’s brother knew and he took the information to his grave when he took his own life. What Josh did to those babies before burning down the house! He should never have had access. It is haunting!

Jhessey Shockley and Aliayah Lunsford
Jhessey’s mom taking her away from love to kill jer. Aliayah’s sad sad eyes. Both make me want to cry.

Sky and Kyron and Gabriel Fernandez
Kyson’s case captivated me because my grandson looked just like him at the time. It breaks me because we all know who is responsible for these cases, but they have not been charged and they are living their lives. These babies deserve justice!

Kyplin Davis and Elizabeth Ennen (both less known cases)
Kyplin’s case captivated me because she was from the town I lived in. I watched her father get blamed and I watched the police mess up the case. My niece knew the boys and they threatened her if she told (they threatened several girls). They at least finally went to prison for a short time.

Elizabeth’s case broke my heart. She was listed as a runaway because the perp controlled the narrative. He also “helped look for her” and was in and out of her mom’s house during the search. She was just babysitting for a family friend who had known her for most of her life. He killed her and the surveillance video still plays in my mind and breaks me! At least she was found and laid to rest and he was found guilty.

I had a quick search for any further scarce details and there were none as you say. I did come across the KDC FB page, where every Week they post about one of their Deck of Cards. I found the post relating to this case, posted by KDC, sometime last year. Again, no new or added info. I messaged them on their thread and got this back soon after. A quick response and really nice reply :

The McAtee homicides are the second oldest case in our deck, from 1977. We didn’t have any news articles to include (like some of the others), because there were none to be found. I’m sure there was media coverage of the murders at the time they occurred, but everything has been archived and warehoused and not available on the internet. Even the detective didn’t have anything, not even a photograph. James McAtee was a Ft. Riley soldier and I even worked with the base historian (who didn’t know about this case) to try and find a photograph to use and any additional detail or articles we could include - They had nothing.

James and Diana McAtee were from Ohio and only in Kansas because of military service. The couple was young, just married and recently enlisted James, who was injured in a training accident, was processing out of the Army on a medical discharge. If I recall correctly, he was only 19 when he was murdered. They hadn’t even had a chance to build a life yet or get established in the community.

Other cases that have links to articles and videos aren’t as old as the McAtee case. Most were Kansas residents with family and friends who provided additional information to the media, started private campaigns to find answers and continue to this day to seek justice for their loved ones. I include media links when I can find them (if not behind a paywall) and sadly, there just isn’t anything for the McAtee’s or anyone left of their family to miss them.
Thank you for your comment and understanding.

McAtee murders
The only photos I could find of the McAtees were on their memorials at findagrave.com. It looks like someone cropped them from a wedding photo.
The following info will get you to their memorials.
James Lee McAtee born 1958 died 1977. Memorial # 130910744
Diana M. McAtee born 1959 died 1977.
Memorial # 130910807
There is a place for requesting a photo if you want one.

Not a single case ... ALL the cases where a Mother fails to protect her child from an abuser. It happens over and over again, very frustrating and heartbreaking.
I hear has it is heart breaking and I find myself angry at these women who place the man in
Their life above the welfare of their child

Thanks for sharing this one. I live in the next town over and had never heard of it.

First more info on the McAtee photos. I received a response from the person who posted them on findagrave. They pulled the pictures from the Kansas Department of Corrections site or post. The same one provided by AZGIRL63. My phone is old with limited capabilities so I was unable to make the link provided work. I would like to thank AZGIRL63 for bringing attention to this case. I had not heard or thought of it since the early 1980s.

Second There is another case in this category. The unexplained death of Deborah Ann Wolfe in North Carolina. She failed to report for her shift at 8 am December 27,1985 and was found in her pond about 3pm January 1, 1986 dressed in an unusual manner. Some of the clothing was not hers.
This is officially a closed cased: accidental drowning.
No one with any sense believes she went for a midnight swim wearing a burn barrel.

2 unsolved disappearances from the East Anglia area of England in 1974 Unfortunately there is very little information out there.
28 year old Scotswoman Lynda Angus vanished at an unknown date in early 1974 from Suffolk. She was said to have been in the Lakenheath area since the early 70s & attended dances at the airbase.
17 year old Mary Boyle, another Scot had been working in a chip shop in Cromer, Norfolk & said she was reurning to Glasgow in August & has never been seen since. It's not known if Mary reached Glasgow.
Not thought to be linked to 2 other unsolved crimes in the area, the headless body at Cockley Cley & Pamela Exall's disappearance from Snettisham.
Serial killers Peter Tobin & Peter Sutcliffe were known to have travelled through East Anglia many times.

The disappearance of Michele Harris.

In 1999 the marriage started to fail when Michele discovered, while pregnant with their youngest child, that Cal had been having an affair with another clerk on one of the car lots.
"Disappearance of Michele Anne Harris - Wikipedia".

He justified this affair on the grounds she was not keeping the house clean enough.

Rbm.

Smh.

According to court papers, Harris allegedly sat in front of Shultz's house for over an hour, and told him, "I'm going to get all you guys. How's your son? Maybe I will go drag him out of school. I have been following him around."

Threatening people's children ?
What a nice guy.

I wish he would give Michele's remains back to her family for a decent burial.
My .02 is that he knows exactly where she is !

Another unsolved from East Anglia, murder of Karen Hales, Ipswich, Suffolk, 21/11/93.
21 year old Karen Hales was found stabbed to death & ablaze by her parents at the home she shared with fiance Peter Ruffles & daughter 18 month old Emily. The killer had murdered Karen in front of little Emily who was unharmed.
Serial killer Steve Wright lived nearby but Karen doesn't fit his victim profile or MO. Emily was even hypnotised several times without success. 3 suspects with a history of violence, burglary & drug crime are now deceased & an appeal was put out following their deaths with no further information received

A few miles further south from Ipswich is Dovercourt Essex. On 3/1/1978 19 year old Jill Brown left her family's truck stop cafe & convenience store to walk to her job in a launderette. Jill never arrived at work & hasn't been seen since.
Jill was described as 5'2" tall with brown shoulder length hair & wearing a blue raincoat. Peter Sutcliffe & Peter Tobin were known to travel through East Anglia in the 70s. Did Sutcliffe a lorry driver use the Brown's cafe? He was known to take the ferry from Harwich across the river to deliver in Europe

The disappearance and later discovery ruled suicide of Cheryl DeBoer. It was just such an odd, hard to understand or believe set of circumstances and I still think of her and wonder what happened that day.

The unsolved missing persons cases of Macin Smith (UT) and Tyler Christensen (WA).
