SDSO Deputy Brian Patterson first thought Rebecca was murdered. However, it is interesting to remember how Adam and Jonah automatically assumed that she committed suicide and had no further questions. They weren't perplexed or bewildered by it. Jonah didn't question it but immediately called Dina to tell her the news that Rebecca was dead. She hung herself. End of story.

Excerpt below:
"San Diego County sheriff's Deputy Brian Patterson first thought Zahau was the victim of a homicide, but investigators later concluded that she committed suicide -- a finding her family refuses to accept."

BRANDY MEMARIAN, a friend of Rebecca's doesn't believe she killed herself.

'BRANDY MEMARIAN, FRIEND OF REBECCA ZAHAU`S: Well, it`s just shocking. And I agree with you guys. I mean, I just feel like so much of this could be put easily to rest if they just reopened it and answered some of these questions that we all have.

And it just seems -- I mean, that`s the most frustrating part. You don`t know who you`re fighting against, because the people that you`re supposed to trust, they`re not doing what easily seems, you know, within their ability to do.

PINSKY: And Rebecca (sic), we`re looking at pictures of you -- Brandy and Rebecca right now -- that`s the two of them. And both of you seem like you`re very good friends. I understand that you are, in fact.

And Rebecca seems like a very happy person. Do you know of any evidence of anything in her life that would help us understand what might have happened here?

MEMARIAN: No. I mean, I don`t think any of life`s circumstances that she encountered, even this tragedy of Max, would have pushed her over the edge to do something like this.

You know, I ask myself that same question. You know, with the hardships that I`ve encountered, could I take my life? You know? But even if I were to do something like that, I would never do it like that, and she would never do something like this.

She was a fighter. You know, she had a positive outlook on life. She always felt like there was light at the end of the tunnel.

PINSKY: And Brandy, let me ask you this. I`m going to interrupt you. Did she know how to work with ropes? Did she know how to tie ropes in fancy knots and things?

MEMARIAN: No.

PINSKY: No. Yes.

MEMARIAN: No, she didn`t.

PINSKY: Thank you, Brandy. '

"Jonah Shacknai told a friend of Rebecca Zahau at the funeral of his former 32-year-old girlfriend near Saint Joseph, MO on Sunday, July 24, 2011 , that he didn't think his dead lover would commit suicide.

...If these remarks, relayed by Jennifer Jasionowski, the 30-something-year-old friend of Ms. Zahau, are indeed true, then Mr. Shacknai may be saying, by default, that this woman was murdered by either a current or former member of his household."

"Bremner said Zahau was not alone in the mansion when Max had his accident. She said that two of the child's teenage siblings were present and that Zahau was in the shower at the time of the accident. Max's mother and Jonah Shacknai were divorced, and Zahau had recently divorced as well.
"I really hope they will reconsider and really fully investigate this case," Bremner said. "This department needs to be more measured and careful. … My belief is she did not kill herself."

So, how can this not be fact... I guess Rebecca's sister is saying his two older siblings were there... Can't LE just look uo and find when those two left n the airplane??

It seems that Dina's history of violence can still be found on the internet but Jonah's has mysteriously evaporated into thin air. How expedient was that?

Iirc, there were earlier articles in the MSM reporting on this case with detailed stories about Jonah Shacknai's marriage to first wife Kimberly James. I read one story that alleged Jonah threatened Kimberly with a knife when they were going through their divorce. Kimberly James then filed for an order of protection. I can no longer find the link to that article. Does anyone remember it or have the link?

There were also some articles that stated he had outstanding warrants for traffic related issues. Does anyone recall any of this?

It appears PR did something right if they scrubbed these articles but left Dina's and Rebecca's dirty laundry blowing in the wind. Kimberly, Dina and Rebecca may have had much more in common than I think Dina realizes at this point in time. The above represents my opinion.

BBM
I remember reading about both incidents .. the knife incident and the traffic violations. Sorry I do not have links to either, but do remember seeing them. I agree that them being scrubbed now is most convenient.

I am now wondering if Rebecca could have been threatened at knife point sometime during her ordeal? Could she have been threatened by two knife wielding assailants who may have forced her to touch the door frame, bed post and rope before knocking her unconscious?

IIrc, it did not appear that the knifes were used to cut the rope. There were no rope shavings visible and the rope ends did not appear to be excessively frayed. Possibly the shavings were on red blanket or the rope was cut elsewhere.

Where did the red blanket come from? Was her DNA on it? Wasn't one of the beds at the guest house messed up? Maybe it came from there. It could have had multiple functions. Was she wrapped and carried upstairs it it?

It's possible that part of the assault took place in the guest house. Was she forced to remove her clothes and underpants in the guest house? Where was the music coming from? Which rooms had stereo/radio equipment?

I still have so many questions that are still unanswered. Why wasn't a thorough investigation done? Was Gore capable of assisting in a cover-up? Imoo.

Inparadise, I did find a reference to Jonah asking people, while at the funeral, if they knew of any reason that Rebecca would want to hurt Max. It was listed under the comment section of the article. The poster claimed to be in the know. Can't find the link now but will post later.

A poster here sent me a PM stating that she or he knows the Zahau family and Jonah's statement was revealed through them. Hope this helps.

I hope this poster will consider getting verified. Would be great to have someone for this case (I don't think we have even one).

I don't know if the poster has been verified yet, but I hope so too :)

According to the same article were Jonah said he didn't believe Rebecca killed herself he also asked Rebecca's friend Jennifer Jasionowski, "Do you know anyone that would want to hurt her?"

Ms. Zahau's friend also recalled this exchange, "He told me that the last time he saw Rebecca was when they had dinner with some friends earlier in the evening (on Tuesday, July 12), but he didn't say who they were with. He didn't mention leaving her a voicemail at all, (telling her that his 6-year-old son Maxfield had taken a turn for the worse, and was unlikely to recover)."

The link is here.

The 911 call about Max's fall was made by someone other than RZ. Who was it???? What is their version of what happened? On Dr. Phil it said the evidence was Max's razor scooter was involved with the stair railing as there were paint scrapes on the railing and the paint was transferred to the scooter. I think it's possible that the unidentified 911 caller (who I believe was a young person) helped Max position himself to ride his scooter down the stair railing in an evil knieval type stunt that went awry.

Wasn't it Rebecca's sister Xena who made the 911 call? She was 13 or 14, I think.
