Again, Rebecca was not the subject of a criminal investigation. She had made herself available to LE for interviews and questions, even as she spent most of her time ferrying Jonah & Dina's friends and relatives to and from the airport.

The investigation by CPS was a criminal investigation. iirc, RZ's phone call detail did list a call from a detective. And, of course, RZ would herself know whether she told LE the truth. Making oneself "available" is no guarantee one has told LE the truth. According to the records released, it was medical staff who alerted CPS that the injuries did not match with the version of events told by RZ.

What she said was "doctors treating Max were immediately suspicious of his injuries and contacted Child Protective Services, which she said launched a probe", and "it wasn`t until Thursday afternoon that I was even informed by a doctor at Rady Children`s Hospital that they suspected something and CPS was called."

Dina was not told right away that CPS was called, even though they were called on Tuesday (as I recall). They told Dina about it on Thursday. After Rebecca had already hung herself. Rebecca was the person CPS wanted to interview.

yes, iirc, the doctors had a protocol to follow and they alerted someone on the on the hospital's social services staff and that's who brought in CPS.

So now you're saying that staffers at the hospital were responsible for the misdiagnosis and alerted LE? Do you have a link?

According to your logic, since LE contacted all members of the Shacknai & Romano families, as well as many businesses and witnesses in the days after Max's accident, they were all under criminal investigation by LE.

A report by the San Diego County medical examiner's office ruled that the manner of his death was accidental. But Dina Shacknai said doctors treating Max were immediately suspicious of his injuries and contacted Child Protective Services, which she said launched a probe and then dropped it once the medical examiner ruled the death an accident.

(Dina) SHACKNAI:
I would also like to add to that. This -- the idea of what happened to Max was such a shock, it wasn`t until Thursday afternoon that I was even informed by a doctor at Rady Children`s Hospital that they suspected something and CPS was called. Really, I feel during the week, it was such a traumatic shock, I was really, you know, not apprised of all the other information going on with I guess the Coronado Police Department`s investigation.

this does not prove that an investigation was started before Rebecca's death nor that Rebecca knew about this. Didn't this all start because you were claiming Rebecca committed suicide because of a criminal investigation against her? How would Rebecca know on Tuesday or before, yet Dina didn't know????

I believe in the detectives report, he said he was notified on Wed or Thurs - does anyone have that. I know it was not by Tuesday.

So, again, how did Rebecca know any of this was going on?

How would Dina NOT know if Rebecca knew.

No, I don't have a link for something I never said. You're the one making accusations the doctors are to blame.

According to the statements made by authorities linked many times, CPS was alerted because Max's injuries did not fit the explanation given to doctors for how the injuries occurred. Doctors initiated the process to alert CPS. I'm not surprised a detective would make a follow-up call to someone who gave the explanation. I'm not surprised she failed to answer his call or that she proceeded to take her own life.

What RZ DID KNOW immediately, prior to Max ever leaving in a rescue squad was whether her statements about Max's injuries were factual and the truth. She knew when it happened, how quickly LE were summoned afterward, whether she gave CPR and for how long...all she told LE was critical to the care provided to Max.

The entire basis of the "she committed suicide because she feared a CPS investigation" hinges on this.

Or maybe she expected such an investigation. Two children were injured while in her care. If they were both genuine accidents, RZ shouldn't fear answering questions with the truth.

The only problem with that "theory" is that multiple witnesses who spoke w/ RZ up until a short time before she died all say she was not showing undue stress. She was sad about Max's condition, but she was busy making plans, helping out Jonah's friends and family and being supportive in any way she could to people who needed her.

Prior to her "suicide" she exhibited none of the signs or symptoms commonly exhibited by suicidal people.

OTOH, the people who were experiencing extreme mood swings, irrational behavior and rage were DS, her sister and possibly Jonah.

Does anyone recall how after Max's accident, Dina stated that she and Jonah were closer than they had been in years? Kind of odd that if they were so close that he didn't contribute to Maxie's House, nor did he invite Dina to participate in MaxinMotion...........

I doubt anyone is really close to Jonah other than Jonah.

Could you lease list a link where Dina stated this? This is not anything I've read, and I am not one to believe everything I read on a web board without proof. It does not sound correct, to me. IMO

Yes, that was ONE of her stories. The shopping came while little Max was lying in the ICU.

It's not like she was evil for shopping. Shopping for something for her sister maybe or a gift to bring Max in the hospital. It wasn't like she was watching 🤬🤬🤬🤬 in the guest house or out getting botox injections. She was still available to drive all Jonah's and Dina's relatives and friends wherever they needed to go.

Shopping seems like the least of the evil that happened around the ensuing events of that time.

CPS had not yet had time to contact her and arrange for an interview since she hung herself about 39 or so hours after Max's mysterious fall. If they had, who knows where it would have gone? I bet Dina wishes that had happened. Maybe then she would have known what really happened that morning.

What evidence do you have that CPD considered Rebecca a POI regarding Max's injuries?

She was the only adult there during Max's accident.

yes, iirc, the doctors had a protocol to follow and they alerted someone on the on the hospital's social services staff and that's who brought in CPS.

What you described is routine and mandated reporting by hospital personnel for any serious unwitnessed accident. The police are called to investigate. That's routinely done all the time.

Your statement does not constitute evidence. Do you have a link or is this only your opinion?

I can only go by the official reports that have been released that indicate physicians found the injuries did not support the version of events provided and that's why CPS was contacted. iirc, it was then CPS who contacted police.

I don't believe LE are contacted for every accident involving a child. I think CPS gets them involved only in circumstances similar to the situation in this case.

and didn't a dectective phone her a day or so after Max's admission to the hospital? iirc, it was on the call detail provided at the SDSO news conference.

That is right.....just because Jonah said he was at the gym does not prove that he was actually there. I find it odd that no one else has corroberated his "story"...........and there has been no proof that the teens actually flew out in the early am.
