My son in law is traveling with my son from Ft Lewis Washington to Atlanta! I just knew it was the u-haul that exploded! Thank God! they are in Missouri!
My ♥ sank there for a sec...

I'm curious if this was from a coal seam fire because I read about one coal seam fire that's been burning since 1961 up in PA. (can't remember which book).

There's quite a few in Kentucky, even one near Hazard which is fairly close by where this explosion happened.

And, those old abandoned mines can have build up of gases, and those gases include methane. Walk into one of those and strike a match and you get blown to kingdom come.

I'm not even going to touch the UFO theory :snooty: but I'm just like that doncha know? :D Unless that UFO was a meteor that exploded right above ground?

ETA: Hazard KY has a huge issue with drugs right now too.

Not sure if this is related, heard on my local news that 4? soldiers are dead after 2? helicopters crashed. Getting my children ready for school so I didn't hear all of the news. ETa heard something about training center too.

That happened in WA if I'm not mistaken turtles.

Wasnt there something similar to this not to long ago in Cali ? off the coast I think :waitasec:

My husband said to me last night, that there are alot of bombs/missles/interceptors buried in different areas of Kentucky, anybody know anything about that ?

What, no new news? I figured this would be all cleared up by this morning (or that an alien grey would be sitting in the KY governor's chair, dictating his terms).

Only people dictating terms in KY right now are Indiana University basketball players!!

Go Hoosiers!

I can't find any updates either.

Oh and take me to your leader...

Too funny, first thing I thought of when they said mines...the town is Centralia, PA...that's where my father was born and grew up. In fact, many of my family members lived there and had to abandon their homes eventually. The fire is still burning beneath the city. I've been there...it's very eeiry!

"For the next two decades, workers battled the fire, flushing the mines with water and fly ash, excavated the burning material and dug trenches, backfilled, drilling again and again in an attempt to find the boundaries of the fire and plan to put the fire out or at least contain it.

All efforts failed to do either as government officials delayed to take any real action to save the village. By the early 1980s the fire had affected approximately 200 acres and homes had to be abandoned as carbon monoxide levels reached life threatening levels. An engineering study concluded in 1983 that the fire could burn for another century or even more and "could conceivably spread over an area of approximately 3,700 acres."

Interesting RO! I think I read where the seam fire there can burn up to 100 more years possibly.
