I saw that in the news thread and wondered why no one had started a thread on that proposed jailhouse visit before trial. I had thought of starting a thread on that subject, but then was away from the computer for a while. The whole idea of a jailhouse visit after 2 and 1/2 years of no visits, just sounded like some sort of ruse.

Especially when it seems likely IMO that ICA has been communicating with them in some fashion this entire time.

I like the theory upstream from JerseyGirl. She wondered if the Anthonys mkight orchestrate a visit in which Casey makes a tearful confession of the tragic accident. Then I suppose they can go on the stand and tell her story for her.

I agree. JerseyGirl, very good theory. It could be Casey's way of testifying to an accident without getting on the stand, no cross-examination from LDB or JA either.

We already know the As have been communicating through Baez in order to bypass jail rules so why would they risk a taped jail interview when ICA hasn't spoken a word to them in years? There is definitely something fishy about this visit.

I don't believe JB or CM feel she's getting off but a hung jury is a win for them. They can get the publicity they desperately crave and let a public defender deal with Casey for the next trial.

What you've suggested - a confession to mommy and daddy - sounds entirely plausible. This has all the elements of an underhanded defense tactic to try to get their client off of a murder charge.

If the DT goes through this mock jail visit I say ICA is doomed. If the jury had any doubt she was innocent, it would be gone in a second. A jury will weigh things, but most people don't like to be fooled and have the wool pulled over their eyes.

Who sits in jail for 3 years if it was an accident. ICA Can't say she was scared of her parents because of the jail videos proving she was the boss in this family and she called the shots. Can't say it was ugly coping because she acted exactly the same before Caylee died with all the partying and don't get me started on the video of her at blockbuster smooching away with Tony. Any human in their right mind (And Casey, according to the doctors is sane) would not have acted as if nothing happened IF there were an accident. She acted like a criminal who had the time to think things through and knew she had to act normal to cover up her crime- consciousness of guilt.

So three years sitting in prison then admitting it was an accident a week before jury selection, then Cindy & George asking softball questions to ICA. Then add in the jail letters where ICA says her lawyer promised her a mistrial. Hahahaha! I think the SA will be able to tie all of this so neatly together and show exactly how much of a SOCIOPATH Casey truly is and show how sleazy her lawyers are. Go ahead DT try to make fools of the jury and see what you get back - I dare you.

The only surprise I want is the person to step forth who is the father of Caylee Marie. Now that will be an "Aha" moment. This family has knitted together and have been very clever about this particular subject.

What is the reason that not ONE male has come forward and claimed Caylee? Is this the elephant in the room?

Motive for Caylee's death:

1. Jealousy over both parent's attention and money spent on Caylee.
2. Anger and resentment for Cindy's attention to Caylee.
3. Anger and resentment towards the father of Caylee for leaving her.
4. Tired of being at the beck and call of Cindy because of Caylee.
5. Casey was hyper-focused on TL. He didn't want children at the time.

If Caylee died on Father's Day, it could be significant. She may have harbored a grudge towards this mystery man for putting her in this position. She killed his child on Father's Day.

With the jailhouse visits video taped and released to the media it would be difficult to do much planning. If this is something the defense is planning, then it would be carefully orchestrated ahead of time. Casey would no doubt cry and spill it all, how it was a terrible accident and she didn't know what to do and was so afraid to tell them what had happened. So she tried to make it look like a kidnapping, and spent the next 31 days trying to block that terrible accident from her memory.

The media and the state would likely get the video of the jailhouse visit before the trial starts.

I'm sure the state is aware of what the defense team is saying publicly (on In Sessions and at other media events) regarding an accident and is preparing for that to be introduced by the defense.

The bolded sentence would be the key to the visit.

Oh thanks logicalgirl -- I hadn't checked there. Will watch as soon as I get home from the salt mine tonight. I can only keep up with so many threads ... have to pick and choose carefully! My thoughts on InSession's coverage can be summed up as follows:

1) Glad they're there, but ...
2) They are clearly trying to increase viewership by making it seem like this is going to be a nail biter, and
3) They are bending over backwards to be fair to ICA and DT in the hopes of getting more exclusive interviews.

Figured nothing in that thread would change my mind (would read all threads if it wasn't for that darn salt mine!). Now I have a reason to go to check it out! Thanks again!

My guess is Nancy will go absolutely rabid! She'll no doubt shred that defense theory to threads. Boy, I'd love to see that. With that thought in mind I don't think NG even knows half the details that JA and LDB know. JA is a hot head like NG and LDB is a mother! Just imagine. Most trials are pretty boring, doubt this one will be. :floorlaugh:

I don't think so simply because ICA can see HHJP has her number. Way too smart, nothing like mommy, daddy or her friends that just didn't bother on ever putting her in her place. Her friend Annie said she isn't that smart. Lee always gave me the impression that they knew but just accepted it. GA said he thought she got the gene from his sister that had mental issues. She's had a good bit of success dangling guys around as long as she provided sex or they thought she would. Casey isn't aware imo of her many shortcomings. She probably thinks she really is smart and a great bs'er because she's gotten away with it. JB is also aware that HHJP has his number. ICA and JB honestly do imo think they have a better shot at that one rogue juror or even convincing them it could have been an accident. HHJP can sentence her to death if he believes the SA's case. My guess is that she'd do at least a minimum of 30 years if left to him.

KC somehow had been emotionally and financially blackmailing her mother for 3 years. She had been acting out with arrogance, attitude and resentment and getting away with it. She was in the driver's seat and her ability to carry it off has got to have something to do with the 'don't worry, I haven't said anything' statement in the first jail visit. She was holding something powerful over her parents. OK, that and the fact that she was Caylee's biological mother but I think it was something more.

When Caylee died the tables turned. To me it looks like a rage killing because of the duct tape in the hair. If it had been an accident and Caylee was wrapped in bags with the duct tape on the outside to keep it together the hair wouldn’t have been involved and the tape wouldn't have been ripped into separate pieces. I’ll leave that up to LDB (I love her), JA and Mr. George. When she came out of her rage she panicked and said sheet, sheet, sheet. Now what. Oh, I know, I’ll drive around in circles until I can distract myself with my own neediness and hunker down with TonE. I’ll figure out what to do with the squirrel in the trunk after I get my head together.

She no longer had the power. She knew she'd be caught in the end but hid out with a gusto only her selfish, entitled, narcissistic personality could pull off. Because of her pathological lying and not being caught right away she gained confidence and had time to weave and embellished the story of Zanny. She was now premeditating the set up of Zanny and the kidnapping with friends by mentioning her name to them. It became a power game. In the end she lost. Amy said that on July 15 when KC was confronted she acted like a 16 year old who was caught by her mother doing something really wrong. Amy was surprised at this dynamic probably because she had never seen KC so out of character. KC had to face the formidable force that she’d been able to control so effectively but now she had nothing.

Her Zanny story was strongly established in her mind and when challenged by her family she came to the end of the hall and offered up Zanny and the kidnapping. They were buying it so that boosted her confidence in her ability to baffle with bull stuff. When she couldn’t control that story anymore she went silent to everyone but the DT

I think the defense argument has something to do with the origins of that 'don't worry' statement. What was KC holding in order to blackmail so effectively? JB says that he may not have been able to get the forensics thrown out but he is confident because the defense has KC. What kind of story has she woven for them and do her parents know it's going to involve their ‘secret’? I can only expect they do.

OK, so this is just my opinion of course and I'm not even sure it addresses the question of defense strategy but what the heck, it's 2:00 a.m. and my submit post finger is impaired. I just wish that the truth comes out sooner than later and that Caylee is honored with dignity during the trial. She will always be a special part of the lives and memories of many, many dedicated people.

I'm not disagreeing with you at all about Casey holding something over their head because imo she was, definitely. The statement she made about not saying anything either. However, for me it really is as simple as Caylee was what she had to hold over her parents head(are you a grandmother with a daughter similar to Casey?) and not saying anything was referring to her keeping her yap shut and not further incriminating herself. I still think the A's submissive behavior was due to knowing Casey so well and they knew she'd threaten to just not speak to them as she eventually did do. In one jailhouse video she made the threat when she didn't like the questions so they kissed her behind real quick. An accepted way of life for these people. How bad it had gotten even SP told LE. If GA tried to intervene it looks like she had no problem getting CA to kick him out. MH verified the tactics Casey used on her parents. I guess I could go on and since there are countless instances so I'll stop there. Casey is a drama queen as it is and now wants to be playing the role of victim so....

Defense attorney Cheney Mason said claims made by Casey Anthony and Baez that Caylee was alive will now work against them at trial.

"Then all the talking, all the press interviews and the parents going on this show and that show and the lawyer going on different shows establishes they have no credibility whatsoever," Mason said.
The testing of the remains could be the key to the case.

Rahter said an accidental death would be hard to believe.

"What would a reasonable person do in the case of an accident? Call 911 or call your parents or call a close friend. Do you go borrow a shovel from a neighbor, probably not?" Rahter said.

Mason said an insanity defense would be even more difficult to prove, Rahter said.

"It's really difficult to be not criminally responsible. You have to prove they know right from wrong and they understand the consequences of their actions. Obviously, Casey understood the consequences of her actions because she worked really hard to cover it up," Rahter said.
If the case plays out how many think, the experts agree on what will likely happen.

"You can pretty well predict there's going to be a life sentence, either a plea and get it over with or have a circus trial and then be convicted and get life," Mason said.

I have never forgotten these words from CMason, before he came on board the Anthony train....I wonder if he will do as he suggested above...Enter a plea of guilty but only guilty to the aggravated manslaughter...no way she will get off scott free...she did too much to cover up her actions, this was a crime ,anyway the DT wants to slice it, Caylee's death was a crime and due to man's law (just like God's law), she must pay her consequences....JMHO
