What Is the Defense Strategy?

Staying a bit OT,but I'll swing it back around.......To LogicalGirl and all,
After watching a Geraldo Rivera piece that Tulessa put up ,I got caught up in Ca's deposition from the ZG civil suit. There are glimpses of sadness in CA's eyes when discussing the last time she saw Caylee.Just sheer world weary sadness. She is so full of anger ,you almost miss it,but by part 11 on Youtube she begins wear down and it's there.

So back on topic,I'm now wondering if George and Cindy are privy to the DT' strategy,or if they THINK they are privy ,but the DT is actually moving in another direction.Thoughts?

We can only hope that anger- currently displaced - eventually focuses on where it belongs - ICA.

I thought it was very interesting at the end of the trial last week when JB and his female assistant with the short gray hair and glasses (can't remember her name) were discussing with the judge about witnesses that had yet to be named and the gray haired lady said something about this NOT being a "incapacitated defense" (or whatever that term is when a person is pleading insanity) and you can clearly see ICA shake her head no.

Could it be they are working on an insanity defense through the "backdoor" so to speak because their guilty client is refusing to plead that.

I don't know how to insert the video here but it's near the very end. Before all of the lawyers go up to the judge.

Agreed and now that KC has made it clear to the world who watched the hearing that she has nothing to say to her brother, she should have no problem using him in the sexual abuse theory. She is so low. But Mom will be there for her even if it means the downfall of her husband, George or her son Lee.

Sorry - should have given you an answer IMO but you made me laugh with your comment about Ann Finnell who currently does not get the respect she deserves because people either think she is a man or don't know who she is at all.

I think they've told ICA some story to try to sneak the PTSD defense in front of HHJP, but not sure they are going to get away with it. You can see HHJP is very wary of the whole thing and wants to read the reports from the two Drs. before ruling on the witnesses.

ICA doesn't look like she would agree to any other way of getting through this trial other than insisting she is innocent and following it through. I also think it is why we didn't see a successful plea bargain in the early days. She will never admit guilt even if it is through diminished capacity to save her own life. ICA is a liar who insists her own lies are true, and can't seem to grasp no one else does. The trick of repeating them over and over again until they are believed hasn't worked either and won't, but she doesn't get that.

I think that Cindy thinks she knows where the Defense is going .... and thinks she is "helping" .... but I think the Defense is gunning for George and Cindy and George have no clue .... I think their pride and arrogance would not let them accept the fact that the Defense is bringing in evidence of GEORGE and his rages, in attempt to divert juror attention away from Inmate Anthony as the killer.

I think that is why JB wanted a sidebar to discuss the state-of-mind doctors and new witnesses (2 women who filed battery charges against George), so GEORGE would not hear what they are doing, and interfere in any way with the Defense strategy.

That is also why, in the Defense motion asking for the (6) new witnesses, the Defense intentionally left out info regarding the battery charges against George by the (2) new witnesses - Patricia Young and Sharon Cadieux. The Defense was intentionally vague on the description of these witnesses, and why the Defense wants to add them now, so GEORGE would not read that document and realize that the Defense is after HIM now.

I do not see DT going anywhere with this one. GA lost his temper, whoopy do. Neither one of the women were injuried, he pushed them. The police never charged him and most people would feel, these women should never have been there in the first place. Some were in his face. He knew better than to touch them but did it anyway but never hurt them. So what does it prove. Nothing. A man under tremendous stress, he knows his granddaughter is gone and his daughter is responsible. That's what the jury will think and also I think they will blame defense for even bringing it up. Are they like, brain dead?????

LOL :floorlaugh: That "female assistant" was Ann Finnell, a lawyer who will be handling the penalty/phase and she is death penalty qualified. She has more lawyering experience in her pinkie than Baez has in his whole career.

Did anyone see the clip on InSession this morning about Judge Belvin Perry ? It showed him during a case he was prosecuting back when he was a DA. If I heard correctly ,it was a DP case with a female defendent. The talking heads were suggesting he would not have a problem sentencing a woman to death ,since he requested it as a DA.
He had hair and was wearing a khaki colored or light brown suit.
Please tell me I did not imagine that ! LOL I was distracted by a pesky phone call at the time.
If so,then LWOP really will be a win for the DT.

Now that the possible Defense strategy regarding GEORGE has been made public through the WFTV article ... if George does nothing to try to stop this steam roller running over himself ... that would tend to indicate that George is a willing participant in the Defense strategy to get the Inmate off of the murder charge.

MissJames you are not hallucinating - it is true! The case was the black widow (?IIRC) and they were showing the Eileen Wuernos case and this case for HHBP when he was a young prosecuting Atty (quite handsome I might add).

I have the feeling this incident will not be the only one the Defense brings in to show George's rages .... this incident alone would not be very strong, but add to it .... evidence of George shoving his own father through a glass door ... the many news video clips of George totally losing it on people he does not know .... the Inmate's accusations of incest .... other testimony that points to George ....

IF (a big IF) George is not a willing participant ... I believe George should let JB and the entire defense team know in no uncertain terms that he will not allow them to use him as an escape goat, he will not allow them to manipulate his own testimony to fit into their strategy. He will stop letting JB spoon feed him on how to answer when he is on the witness stand.
He could stop doing media ops where he defends his Inmate daughter ... because if she didn't do it .... George did!
And he could start attending the Hearings and sitting on CAYLEE's side of the courtroom.

Or, he can roll over and let the Defense try to pull this off, and as Sheaffer said, George can plead the fifth if the Defense asks him if he killed Caylee, and leave the seed of reasonable doubt lingering in the air for the jurors to ponder.

Again, apologies if these are stupid questions. This is the first time I've really followed a case, so am not too well versed in how it all actually works.

If the DT is successful in steering this towards George, at most, this would result in Casey being acquitted. Is that correct? If they steer this towards George, that *could* or *would* result in charges being brought against George and a separate trial? What roll does the Judge play in the final outcome here. Say, for example, the jury does not (for whatever reason) find her guilty, but HHJP is convinced she is, would that have any bearing on the outcome?

I think it is a multi faceted strategy ... and we are only seeing the hints of the tip of the iceberg now ... I think they are trying to introduce evidence of George's violent temper ... leading to questions if George killed Caylee.

I think the PTSD testimony will be used to explain to the jury why the Inmate acted like she did in the 31 days Caylee was "missing".

Here you go Miss James. The defendant was Judy Buenoano, the Black Widow. HHJP then a prosecutor for the state, successfully convicted her and even attended her execution!
