I voted death by lethal injection, but to me, anything that worked to kill them would be fine. Dip them in honey and throw them on a Fire Ant mound. Maybe then they'd feel a very tiny portion of the torment they put their victims through.

LWOP. They can't be rehabilitated, its been proven. And, from watching "LockUp" on MSNBC, some prisons have the sex offenders all in one area together, and they didn't look too miserable to me. That disappoints me.
Secretly, I think they probably enjoy all being together. Probably dome disgusting sex acts going on there routinely between all those pervs. JMO.

Perhaps this poll isn't that clear to me. By the title do we mean sexual abuse of children with or without homicide in some cases. One single classification of punishment doesn't sit well with me, there can be multiple other criminal acts going on than just sexual abuse.

First off let's classify what offenses should warrant an offender LWOP. Sex Trafficking of children, molestation of multiple children, rape of multiple children, rape of developmentally disabled children and sex crime with two other sex felony convictions.

If the offender murders the child after raping or sexually abusing the child then the offender needs to be put in front of a firing squad.

Rape and molestation of a single victim should be 15-35 years depending on the physical and emotional damage.

Production of child from a victimized child should be an additional 20 years. Possession of child should be 10 years.

All offenders convicted of a sex crime when released should be tracked for 15-lifetime depending on the nature of the offense and amount of offenses.

I read numerous studies in college that say castration does not work, in he case of pedophiles and serial killer types penetration is not goal or even all that common in the act of assaulting the victim. Therapy does not work either. The victims or their families should get to kill the perp however they'd like. In a public place designated for that purpose if they would like. I think if you don't know how to be a human and you've taken the right to be human from someone else you don't deserve another chance, nor the right to be treated humanely yourself. In countries where punishment is this harsh, this #$*^ does not happen all day every day. JMO. I know it's one some folks don't like.

As many choices as there were, there wasn't one that really included all of the requisites that I'd like to see;

1st Offense/1 Victim with no extenuating circumstances (i.e., use of, or threats of using a weapon, such as a gun, knife, rope, stun gun, ect., use of force resulting in any type of physical injury...) = Mandatory 10 years/100% time served/Victim impact education/ therapy throughout time incarcerated/After 100% time served conditional release consists of GPS "real-time" monitoring, driver's license/state i.d must be on your person at all times and will identify you as a RSO, must check in, in person, with PO: weekly 1st year/bi-weekly 2nd and 3rd year/monthly from then on/must report any changes immediately/mandatory curfew time verified by real-time GPS tracking for first 3 years/3-years mandatory therapy: weekly for 2 years/bi-weekly the third year. Any or all of the parole conditions may be extended based on evaluations by PO/therapist. Any parole violation will result in your immediate apprehension and recommendation for civil committment for a minimum of 1 year.

More victims, more time;

1st Offense/multiple victims = 10 years mandatory/100% time served for each victim - not be served concurrently; i.e., 2 vic's = 20 years mandatory/100% time served/when paroled, parole time and conditions will likewise be 3 years/per victim; 2 vic's = 6 years with all of the above requirements extended to those 6 years... and so on.

2nd Offense = LWOP

Murder of a child in the commission of a sexual assault = DP

I'm going to abstain from voting on this one. Cause I have this complicated theory on what should happen to the abuser.

If any torture or physical abuse happened, then I believe that it should be life without parole for the abuser. And that they should be required to make themselves available to medical science for any study, testing and treatment practices for the rest of their lives, including any invasive procedures that should be required.

If no torture or abuse happened, then I think other punishments should be available. First a long prison stay. X the number of children they were known to abuse. Then on release they should be put into a locked halfway house, and required to do some type of work program (preferably physical labor.) Twelve to fourteen hour days should be expected. Their wages should be split with half to go to house for room and board, the other half to go to the children they abused for treatment. And this should be life long. They should also be required to make themselves available for medical science in their off hours. If too sick to go to work, then of course there would also be chores needed to be done around the house. (LOL, making them into housewives kinda appeals to me.)

I am a survivor as well, and I voted life without the possibility of parole. I agree that no form of castration will stop a pedophile, and I also have to bear in mind that someone might have been innocent but proven guilty and should have the chance to prove as much.

I did not see the option to write in my own... I feel really icky writing this but what I would want done is give the pedo deep 3rd degree burns on his hands (it's not about the pain they'd feel) so all the nerves are burned away so after it heals up they won't be able to feel themselves touching anything (like a little kid). Then, perhaps give them some burns on their face... yes, they could wear a mask, but if they didn't, any little kid who say them would get scared and scream/run away.

Same punishment as the child. I tend to think that if they give it, then they can take it. I tend to feel that something like lethal injection is being too soft on them. What kind of torture did they put the child through? Lethal injection sounds like a peaceful death compared to that.

Of course, I tend to think this way about other crimes too, not just sex predators. Murder, etc.

This is a great survey. I voted LWOP in general pop. These people can't be rehabed, so they need to be locked up permanently. General pop is kind of a fun option, IMO, and would take away abit of their security, and add a nice element of torture, all legal of course.

What I think would be great is to make child molesting a federal offense (that covers the molester if they move), if you have to give them parole (1st offense, no other crime
commited in the process), they are on a fed roster that notifies all and any local authorities. Microchipping them once in the system would be another option. 2nd offense, no matter how small, its back in prison permanently and a prison that is designated for only child molesters. This prison would not be designed as club Fed.
The government would contract out this prison to perform hard labor of some sort, so they would work 10 hours a day, cover their up keep, and contribute back to society.
I would have said pay for what they have done, but they can never pay some child back for their innocense.

I chose life in prison without parole. I so badly wanted to vote death by any means possible! In my mind though, the thought kept running though my head of the Lord saying, "You can lock them away forever but vengence is mine, their death belongs to me."
