If air bags were the reason to place car seats and children in the backseat to begin with,
why not do something with the air bags to bring the children to the front seat again.

Could the air bags be made smaller - could they expand just enough to prevent windshield fly through, but not so big that it explodes in the face of the passenger?

:dunno:

Just turn the passenger side off.

They cut the head off of the too small passenger.

A doctor's granddaughter was in an infant car seat in the passenger seat. The mother hit a car going 5mph in the parking lot. The air bag went off and cut the head off of the baby.

The doctor grandfather got the law to be that people and children of a certain height and weight cannot be in the front seat.

That is why the age and weight limits are made.

Of course people still drive drunk, but I am so impressed with how many young people have a designated driver. Laws work.

Maybe laws don't work for the Darwin selection people.

Not all cars have that option. The passenger seat is not that safe either

I think the passenger seat is just as safe as the back seat if the airbag is turned off. There is no way to predict where the impact of a collision will take place. If a vehicle is rammed from the rear by a semi, I think the front seat would be further away from the point of impact. No way to be 100% safe in a car.

It does not stop the violence against women, but at least the abuser is arrested.,,Huge difference from people just turning their backs on it and making women think they deserve it.

As far as smoking, if people want to smoke, whatever.

But those of us who do not don't have to be in a store or an elevator with it.

No law= no recourse

My point is that laws don't guarantee safety. No law would have prevented Cooper's death.

Of course not, or we would not have murders or kidnapping.

If there is no law, as used to be with stalkers, there was no recourse.

With laws, a person can do something.

Imagine if there were no laws about drunk driving. Wouldn't that be special?

Air bags can be turned off. Nobody should ride in the front seat of a car without their seat belt. If the car is hit head-on, your lower body will slide below the airbag and be severely injured. Both my parents suffered severe hip and leg fractures in a head-on collision because they didn't wear their seat belts. They thought the airbags were enough.

Laws do not prevent crime. Our prisons are over-crowded. Repeat offenders are still out there driving drunk and killing people.

You can bet it will.
Didn't requiring helmets when kids ride bikes change the death rates from bike wrecks?

It dropped 20%-60% depending on the state IIRC.

What states require bicycle helmets? I wasn't aware of this one. Thanks.

No kidding!
We had a citizen pull in front of a 25 year old yesterday. and hold him until police got there*** who has been arrested SEVEN times for DUI!

"Perrick is facing felony charges as a habitual DUI offender. Petchenik found records showing Perrick has been arrested at least seven times on DUI charges dating back to 2009."

In 2009 he wasn't old enough to drink!

Bravo! to that good Samaritan. When a death results from such reckless irresponsibility, I'm all for increasing the harshness of the punishment rather than just creating more laws.

I wish my state would do that. I cringe every time I see the little boys across the street from us riding their bikes without helmets.

I am in shock that the dispatcher said it was ok if he could do it safely...

If I recall correctly, CT requires bicycle helmets but not helmets for motorcyclists.

Seriously.

Well imo taking some responsibility for your child for one.
I'm not sure how it got started, WAIT yes I am. I was looking for the iAlert car seat.
Then it morphed into high tech baby gadgets.
I was SHOCKED at some of it. Rediculous!
What happened to actual hands on parenting?
Keeping up with feeding and diapering in you head?
Seriously do mom's need an app to tell them when to feed the baby again and which boob to use????

Call me old fashioned, I listened to my baby, I started her on the boob that was uncomfortably large. I think all this electronic cr@p will prove to be dangerous.
Diapers with sensors to detect when baby needs changing? Really?
We had the ones that changed color, but imo only someone challenged needs a color indicator. Feel the dang diaper!
Just because it's not saturated doesn't mean they dont need to be changed. Do these diapers
sense [emoji90]?
I am serious because there are parents out there that wont respond until the diaper sends a message to their cell phone and says change me.
No wonder people dont get it.
imo this is too much like a tomogatchi!!!
Babies aren't cell phone games and if your cell needs to alert you to care for your child you seriously need to reexamine. your priorities and throw that phone away.

The child. What apps come with the child? Can you bundle all of these options for a better deal?

And maybe there are the apps that can teach your child French or Mandarin overnight while the child sleeps.

Or maybe apps that can teach math .

The opportunities are endless with apps!
