I ditto this question! I know that I was :banghead: when the report came out AFTER the trial as would have loved to have had the conclusion before the trial - so add onto question.......could it have been entered/presented to jury? CPS obviously thought the FCA was a guardian and stated as much although........the jurors did not agree the FCA was the guardian.

JA made several references to retiring in his book ... I assumed that's what he was going to do. Very off-putting for me.
 
Another question - In the future, how can WE help prosecutors? For all that we did - were we no help? What could we have done for you that we did not do, and what could we do in the future to help prosecutors in a situation such as the Caylee case? (Noting the reference to "internet blogs" that wasn't complimentary in the book).
 
I would like to know to what degree a Judges' attitude to either side can influence the outcome of a trial, in your experience. In watching the different style of Judge Pastor in the Conrad Murray trial I have had a long hard think about this and would very much welcome your (diplomatic) opinion thank you

He has stated over & over that he would more or less be in the back ground. When you have several children that will need a college education, retirement has to take a back seat. I see nothing wrong with him taking this position. Lawyers do it all the time.

To add, even though this is a column of questions - I heard him answer this question in on of his many interviews I watched. He said it was a very loosely arranged consulting job that he may work from time to time. One of the partners is a good friend of his and it is a place to park his hat until he finds out what he is really going to do.
 
Why didn't anyone on the SA's team ask Cindy Anthony if the pool where Caylee supposedly drowned was still in the backyard and, if so, did they still swim in it? (If that question was asked during trial, I missed it.)

(Please ignore my previous, rambling entry [for some reason, I can't delete it]). This is the one question I would really like answered.

I look at it in a different way, this is my point of view in regards to retiring...

Jeff Ashton Retired from his full-time job as a Prosecutor with the State of Florida...
That to me does not mean he is retiring from any career opportunities, being casual, part time or whatever suits him and his family.

Many people retire from their current full-time jobs and go on to other career endeavours..

Just my take on it...:innocent:

First of all, I didn't think this was a discussion thread, I thought it was a question asking thread for his upcoming interview on WS radio... I didn't realize I needed to explain or defend my question.

Secondly, I didn't give an opinion either way - I stated it was off-putting and therefore want to know his reasons for coming out of retirement. He never mentioned this in his book.

He has surely saved for his children's education.

Thridly - this, from the law firm's web page, does not seem like someone who will be more or less in the background, regardless of how many times he "said" it.

One of my many questions to JA -

Knowing that the prosecution sent the diary for further forensic testing and knowing that it was never introduced as evidence - What is YOUR best theory on when Casey wrote that entry?
 
I would be interested in hearing his thoughts about the A's being allowed to sit in the courtroom throughout the trial, taking notes and basically wearing a path on the floor by their repeated trips back & forth to the witness stand.

I'd like to know if they ever found out with whom Dominic Casey was speaking when searching the dump site for Caylee's remains.
 
FYI a bunch of these are really legal or trial strategy questions ("why didn't the SA do such-and-such during the trial," etc.), so if you don't get the answers tomorrow on WS radio just post on the "legal questions" thread and I'll answer them. :)
 
I listened to an alternate juror say he didn't get the duct tape; saw no reasoning behind it. If that is the consensus of the entire jury, then the prosecution was doomed from the start. I think we can ask a million questions and say they should have done this and should have done that, but this jury was not going to convict. Period. The alternate said, ok so you have the chloroform then what does she need the duct tape for - didn't make sense.

IN order to kill someone, if you believe the chloroform won't do it, then duct tape would be a good plan B - it would make sure that the toddler does not start cryng while you are in Blockb uster.

They were notgoing to convict.

What did the Sheriff's deputy jerk out of Cindy's hands when they first got Casey's things back from Tony and Cindy was going through her wallet?

It might have absolutely NOTHING to do with ANYTHING - but that has always bugged the hello outta me for all these years. The deputy let Cindy keep the cash and her JC Penny card - but she sure "recognized" and very quickly snatched whatever that was outta Cindy's hands and that was the last we ever heard of it.
 
1). In the Defense&#8217;s objection and motion to strike the States motion to determine potential conflict of interest (March 2009), Offender Casey Anthony hand wrote in "I believe that Mr. Ashton is angry because I have refused to take a plea agreement for a crime that I did not commit"

&#8226; What did he think of this?
&#8226; Any ideas why Offender Casey Anthony specifically wrote in Mr. Ashton&#8217;s name?

2). Who was the anonymous source for Casey's $500,000 Sept 2008 bond?

3). When Offender Casey Anthony was rearrested on August 29, 2008 &#8211; for uttering a forged instrument, and ID and petty theft - Jose Baez stated she was aware of the pending arrest and wanted to turn herself in. But, OCSO showed up at the Anthony home, at night, and basically ambushed her and took her away in handcuffs in a chaotic scene in front of the media and protesters.

&#8226; Was the arrest conducted in this manner to thwart a rumored pending interview with ABC, who had paid her 200K in August 2008 for &#8220;photos and videos&#8221;? (Please say yes just so we can giggle at Jose Baez, Offender Casey Anthony and ABC getting one upped)

4). Does he know if Caylee and/or Casey were on Cindy&#8217;s health insurance? Casey had no job, and we now know that Cindy provided for Caylee's every need. I can't see Cindy allowing Caylee not to have insurance coverage (she worked in the Healthcare industry). I also believe Cindy knew Casey was not working a job that would have provided it.

5). Does he have a favorite Baez trial quote? Here are a few examples:

&#8220;The truth stops here&#8221;
&#8220;And then you asked her is she ever committed suicide&#8221;
&#8220;Sir, you&#8217;re not a piece of duct tape are you?&#8221;
&#8220;The checks in the mail&#8221;
"I would like to question the dog, but I can't"

6). What are his thoughts on working under such a media and public spotlight?

7). How could he miss Linda Drane Burdick's carefully chosen outfit on the drive to Jury Selection?

8). Pie or Cake?

p.s. I enjoyed meeting Mr. Ashton at the NYC book signing, and wish him the very best in all that he does.

Mr. Ashton...would it have been easier getting a murder conviction (with this jury) if Caylee's body had never been found? :(

As an aside, I can't believe I still have so many questions. I don't think I'll ever feel satisfied that I have enough answers...not with Casey free. Nope...no satisfaction at all.
