Where Will The State Start?

They better not put Cindy on the stand first. That would be throwing a wrench in the works. I think they should play the 911 calls first and then put the 911 dispatcher on and the perhaps, the arriving officers. The state also has to keep in mind how good of a witness each will be in cross examination. I think Baez tried hard to rip one of the responding officers to shreds previously. So I think it is safer to put Yuri or Allen up there first to establish strength and authority first. imoo

Tuesday, after we have heard first from the prosecution and then are busy picking our jaw up off the floor after the Defense's opening statement - just who will be the first witness called by the State?

I don't think it will be Cindy or George.

I think the first witness will be Cindy. July 15, 2008 is the pivotal day in this case when GA and CA went to the impound yard, retrieved the Pontiac, found contact info for AH, and CA had AH accompany her to TL's apartment and brought KC home. This is the day when it's learned that Caylee is missing. This is the beginning of LE involvement and the beginning of the case. It's central to the facts in the case.

I think the state will play the 911 call and then call CA as the first witness.

I think the order will be, CA, GA, and LA, and then Yuri and John Allen, because that's the order of events for July 15, 2008. CA, GA and LA will testify to the events on that day leading up to CA calling 911, and then Yuri and John Allen will testify. After Yuri and John Allen will be other LE, AH and TL, as all had a role in July 15, 2008.

After we go through all the witnesses who were involved on July 15, 2008, the state will go back 31 days to June 15 and 16, and go through the events on June 15 and 16, and then the day by day events leading up to July 15, 2008.

Will GA, CA and LA be kept out of the court room till they testify?

I don't know about Lee, but the judge ruled that GA & CA can stay in the court room, even before they testify. The judge did say, though, that any sort of emotional outburst, making faces, etc. would not be tolerated.

I think it's normal to expect and prefer the SA to present the case in chronological order, but I don't necessarily believe that is the way it will be presented. For example, I don't think they are going to start way back before Caylee was ever born. I have faith that the SA will present this case in a manner that the jury will easily understand, whether that be chronological, or not. JMO.

I really think the most important thing at the very start is to personalize Caylee, let the jury fall in love with her, as we all have. Let Caylee be her own first witness.

Immediately after that, 'showcase', (through the 911 calls, through Yuri), ICA's complete disconnect and disregard for the severity of the situation. A child is missing (for 31 days!), and everyone is in a panic to find her- everyone except the child's own mother.

~ I don't know how any of us are even going to be able to sleep tonight. We have waited for this for so long.

YES!!! Perfect!

It's my hope that the state will begin their opening statement with a slide presentation of Caylee ending with the last known video of her singing "You Are My Sunshine" to her great grandpa. Then, their opening statement, and after the defense presents their opening statement, the state will begin with their first witness.

I expect opening statements, along with a brief recess in between the state and the defense, will take up most of the morning session. The afternoon session will begin with the first witness.

Hope the state nails it. Cindy will be such a wild card, possibly hostile, possibly dishonest, so that I'd play every tape of her I could before I actually brought her to the stand.

I don't think they could play the tapes before calling Cindy to the stand, they need to lay the foundation first. imo

But I agree I would start with the 911 call...then do the backtracking to cover the 31 days.

Did the judge set a time limit on opening statements? Hoping with the courts efficiency we'd get to see the first witness sometime after lunch tomorrow.

I hope you're right. I have an appointment tomorrow at 10:15 CT and I am going to be scrambling to get back as soon as I can. I am hoping to catch the SA opening statements at least before I have to leave. Thank goodness for cell phones & Twitter! I plan on stalking Twitter while I am in the waiting room at the Dr.'s office...lol.

Nope. They can sit thru the whole thing.....dispite the defense trying to keep them out:great:

Maybe they should start by introducing the defenant, Casey to the jury by showing the pictures of her enjoying her 31 days!

I think I heard on IS that the defense was going to wait until it's their turn to present witnesses before giving their opening statement. That may have been speculation, though.

Do opening statements have their own separate day or do they jump into witnesses right after?

They have their choice of going immediately after the state's opening or waiting until their turn to present their case.

One thing will be very apparent to me if they skip the chance to do their opening statement on the first day. It will be obvious that Baez is blowing smoke about his big AHA moment if he does not make his opening tomorrow.

WHY, if he really has a sufficient answer to the' 31 Days', why would he want to wait weeks and weeks, and allow the jury to sit and listen to all of the states evidence, BEFORE he shares his wisdom?

They jump into witnesses right afterwards. The opening statements are not usually very long. They are supposed to be brief overviews of the case only.

I am guessing 20 to 40 minutes apiece. I might be wrong but that has been my experience.

I also think they'll start with the detectives...

I do wonder if they'll use the 9-1-1 calls in the opening arguement/statement, it would be a good impact I think.

I think AH, as that was what got the ball rolling so to speak. Bring up the phone call CA made to AH then go from there. Then bring in the 911 calls, the detectives actions, then CA, then GA and LA

Does anyone think they might start with Casey's high school friend who Casey told she wanted to put the baby up for adoption? Also, the friend she told she thought she was going crazy and needed to get some help? If they are claiming premeditated murder, won't they need to lead up to what may have caused it?

How about the computer searches prior to the death?

There are so many possibilities as to where they may start.

I hope they show that ICA had no fear of her parents. Show how they walked on pins and needles to please her to counter anything the DT might imply to explain her actions.
Work up to an ending to show the jury what kind of person she really was.
I am hoping the jury will get to know various tapes of Ca also before she testifies showing how she made it so difficult for LE during their investigation.

I feel the state should first start by introducing little Caylee- putting her beautiful face in front of the jury, playing that last video of Caylee singing, "You Are My Sunshine", making sure the jury understands, and truly 'gets' that Caylee was a real human being, someone precious, with unlimited potential.

And then, put Yuri Melich on the stand, and pick it up from where he started- let the insanity of those first two days after the 911 call, drive the whole thing home.

I love this idea. Are you tired papa and then the 911 call. Then I would like Cindy. If she has a heart at all she would go to pieces. If not we would for sure know where ICA gets it from.
