It is not as if defense attorneys are pro-crime or in favor of evil.

I have been told by several, that they do it to protect that 1 out of a 100 or so, who is innocent.

The system with its Constitutional safeguards is really fashioned to protect the innocent. An unfortunate biproduct of that, is that the guilty reap the same protections and can sometimes hide behind them.

There is a big difference in the end, between the words:
"Not Guilty" and "Innocent."

Exactly. The criminal justice system is about social resolution of a conflict; not necessarily about the truth. A case can end with a guilty verdict because the jury found evidence of guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. Yet, if we had a time machine, we might find that the person was, in fact, innocent. Conversely, a case can end with a jury finding of acquittal. Yet, a trip in a time machine might show the defendant was "guilty as sin." Both cases are concluded (pending appeals or retrial), but the truth eluded the resolution of that particular case. Our laws are heavily weighted in favor of defendants because our society favors living with the guilty, if there is a mistake, rather than convicting the innocent. Defense attorneys are an important part of the processing of justice and are not personally responsible for the outcome. :waitasec:

No, I don't think she has confessed anything to him. I think she has told him even more fantastic lies. BUT I do think he knows she is a pathological liar and I think he knows the truth he just has no details. I mean I think he can see the truth just like we all can. We just don't know the why, how or where. I don't think a defense lawyer wants to know the truth from a criminal either. I am dying to know how he will defend her or what he will say because I know there isn't a soul to back her strange stories.

As far as how he will defend her, his opening and closing arguments should prove interesting, but as far as "backing her strange stories," etc., he may not plan to go there at all, and he may simply sit back and try to poke holes in the state's case, as it's the state that bears the burden of proof, not the defense.

Well, he still has to create a case for "reasonable doubt". With the facts that we have so far, a reasonable doubt is quite doubful. What other possible realistic scenario has been presented to explain Caylee's disapearance?

I voted no, I honestly do not think this girl knows how to tell the truth. imo she does not feel guilt or remorse so no need to unburden herself on someone who would keep her secret.
She may have spun him a few tall tails but it's not the truth.
