I don't think it is that much of a stretch that 12 yr olds would walk home and be responsible for themselves until parents got home from work. It happens in millions of homes every day.

IT is not the same thing. I know plenty of 12 yr olds in my neighborhood that go home and take care of siblings as they come home until mom gets home from work. I know lots of 12 yr olds that even though they are left to their own devices for a time have parents that are plugged in and know what is going on.. hence not an epidemic of 12 yr olds stabbing people.

That's not the stretch I am talking about... latch key kids happen all the time but I don't think that all of them are smoking weed (my preteen doesn't even know what it is) listen to thrash metal and watch 🤬🤬🤬🤬 all day long.

I would like to think that my kids are more the rule than the exception - busy with things etc. But in my community there is no hour long commute or more. Maybe this is why I can't see it. I have a 5K drive from work to home.

12year old kids need their internet use monitored! Many young kids today are filled with evil, vile thoughts. We live in such sad times IMOO.
Parents need to raise their kids and stop allowing video games to raise them.

I couldn't agree more.

I agree. But I am just saying that IF a 12 yr old wants to surf the net and break some boundaries, most can do so. And there is a small percentage that is spending way too much time watching vile content.

Step father, grandfather. Who knows if it's true, according to Ted the grandfather might have been his own father. In his twisted mind, or it maybe true.

I don't have the link handy, but I also recall reading that an inordinate amount of serial killers are adopted which would technically apply to Bundy (as well as David Berkowitz).

I came across that little gem after discovering, at the the age of 58, that I myself was adopted in a scenario eerily similar to Ted, (mother was relaly GM, sister was really mother) except without any hint of possible incest in the family.

I am not talking about a preteen reading an urban legend. I am talking about preteens, left alone all day to sit with friends and watch free 🤬🤬🤬🤬, and free slasher videos and listen to GoreMetal, about killing girls and dismembering them, and then playing GTA4 while smoking some hi potency legal weed.

Lot's to comment on with this story but being on my phone I'll wait to get in depth until I'm on my laptop. Just had to point put one thing now

"High potency weed" is never legal for minors.

These girls remind me of the two girls who were caught up in their make-believe world in "Heavenly Creatures", based on a true story. Folie-a-deux?

ETA: I see that others mentioned the same thing too.

Between this and the Skylar Neese case I don't think I ever want my daughter to have a "best friend".

Maybe just not into old folklore or tales or a horror movie buff.
Also The Preacher in Poltergeist II, Pinhead in Hellraiser, and the TallMan in Phantasm.
Jungian archetypes

Also Candyman. Windigo in First Nations cultures.

I haven't heard that these two were left alone all day and smoked weed. (I wouldn't doubt it though).

If they were absorbed in this culture without supervision they would.

That is the point. Normal preteens that are being monitored and watched, no.. But these two had a whole fantasy life no one knew about. It is why kids should not have the internet at their fingertips. ESPECIALLY at 12-15

I absolutely agree no child should be left unmonitored and unsupervised esp. without given skills or morals. All pre-teens have access to the internet all day long at school (that hopefully filter sites with 🤬🤬🤬🤬 and gore.)
This whole generation was raised on the internet they are natives of the internet.
What kind of girl at age twelve seeks out this kind of violent crap in the first place?
One 12 year learns to draw, animate or program, code another resorts to violent garbage and kills.
I just don't think the internet or a mythos can make someone kill, it has to come from a deeply troubled soul first and foremost, but that's my opinion.

being covered on HLN JVM show right now.

I do not think the internet is responsible. But I do belive strongly that children of that age should not have unpsupervised access to the web or to anything. At 12 children are still forming, they are battling peer pressure, onset of hormones, discovery of sexuality and attraction to others, etc.

This is a key time for kids. To just let them dive into the web while all that is going un unsupervised asks for issues IMO. A child who is already troubled is primed to get on the web and explore all sorts of darkness if they are not being supervised.

parent of classmate of the victim blaming school Ipad saying her own daughter was shown a game called slendyman on school Ipad but her daughter was thankfully not real into it.

JVM wonders if there was some other contributing factor in the home life of the girls.

Discusses how one of the perp girls dad is very into goth things on his own social media accounts.

thank you talking head who states whether that dad had any clue the impression his daughter was getting about slenderman responds with "he absolutely had an obligation to know what his daughter was taking from her internet interactions" (paraphrased)

I don't know any 11 or 12 yr olds who do not know what weed is. Doesn't mean they use it, but they know what it is. At least in Los Angeles, anyway.

I am not saying they did. But Dad had '420' in his avatar, which is an iconic weed reference. So ZI assume the Dad and maybe Mom, are sometimes users. That means the kids 'know' about it at the very least. And heightens the possibility they have access to it.

I worked in middle schools for years. The percentage of middle schoolers who try pot is very very high. imo
