ICS, a couple pages back I stated that I'd come to the same conclusion you have, re the fan fiction sites. which are markedly different than the ARG sites (which do NOT encourage role-play and the kind of ad-libbing seen in the ff sites). I saw exactly the same things, and yes I agree that the elements of what was claimed by the girls as 'motive' are all there. The mansion, the (at times quite affectionate) over-identification with 'Slendy', the 'Creepypastas' (which are nowhere in the ARGs placed in all in one location or collectively termed as such) and also the idea of (at times very brutal) murders currying favour with the 'Creepypastas'.

So I agree, this is very likely the type of site the girls frequented. I would love to see their interactions with people there... and interactions, in general..

Regarding interactions on FanFiction, CreepyPasta and associated, I haven't (yet) really found anything that could be specifically linked to these kids on the forums, which may be because the "offending" posts have been removed by administrators, or because questionable interactions happened via non-public means.

However, I did find a couple of things yesterday that may be relevant to the relationship between the PL and M. In describing them, I'm intentionally being circumspect.

Social Media

There is a social media account purportedly set up by MG under a pseudonym, at the end of November 2013. The pseudonym is a fictitious female first and last name that appears nowhere else on the Internet. This same pseudonym is used for a YouTube account that has no content.

This social media account is used to post a comment to YouTube regarding a Star Trek video clip that had uploaded to YouTube in 2007. The comment on the video states that the real name of the poster is M but she is 11 so had to use a false name to create an account.

This same social media account is only used one other time, to post 4 comments to an account owned by PL regarding a pop celebrity image PL had uploaded. The first three of these comments are general "wind up" messages regarding the victims taste in music and the name of PL's school. The 4th comment tells PL not to take the first 3 seriously, it's just M "being a weirdo" and trying out an internet personality. PL does not respond to any of these comments.

The remaining 4 comments on the image are from various people wishing PL a speedy recovery (she does respond to one of these). It must be truly bizarre for PL to be reading those messages, when the first 4 are purportedly from one of her alleged attackers.

I'm not sure what can be made of this. Due to the lack of other usage of the account, it feels like it was set up for a specific purpose, perhaps to create trouble for MG (and perhaps between MG and the victim). Reading the comment on YouTube alone is not sufficient to link the account to MG, as the author only gives 'M' as her real name. The inference can only be made due to the comments posted to PL's account.

If the account DOES belong to MG, I would have expected PL to respond in some way to at least one of the comments. The fact that she didn't may indicate a deterioration in the friendship (being ignored).

Friendships

It also looks like there was potentially a "new best friend" for PL (I won't post the evidence of this). This person, a few weeks prior to the attack, claimed PL to be her "BFF". Of course, this may not have been reciprocated, but it's certainly the kind of thing that has led to tragic consequences between other former best friends.

Sorry if the foregoing is a bit jumbled. Would be good to hear your thoughts on this.

This is a reaction video made using Omegle - the "chat with a random person" site. On one side is "Slender Man", on the other random people.

There is debate that the girl at 2.50 is MG. Not so sure it is, but she doesn't seem as bothered as her friend who yells: "Hey! It's Slender Man!"

Regardless, kids that age have NO business on Omegle, IMO.

Wonder how many Slendermen I am going to see this upcoming Halloween?
Kids as well as adults

Those that did not know of him probably DO now.

Yeah I'm not thinking that is her either, yep the kids have no business being on Omegle .. but it's naive of parents to think they can keep kids out of parts of the internet they have no business being in .. if they can't do it at your own house, they'll just go to a friends.

OK, I know this is serious, but that kid at the 1:21 mark made me laugh....his reaction was priceless :giggle:

I said this earlier in thread, but my oldest son (17) dressed as Slenderman a couple of times a few years back when Slenderman first started to show up. He's like 6'4" and 140 pounds, tall and thin, so he made a really good Slenderman lol. He's heard about this case and was pretty horrified that anyone would have let themselves believe in the story to such an extent. To him and most others, it's just a fun/creepy story.

Omegle is notorious for being a cesspit. You are more likely to wind up seeing a pic of some dude's junk than you are talking to an actual human.

So I'm a pretty easy going parent, and last halloween my same oldest son got a horse head mask to wear (which he wore while dressed in a suit lol). Just for grins he fired up omegle while wearing the horse head and instead of chatting would just sit and nod at the other person (maybe u had to be there but it was hilarious). he got tons of laughs from the normal people who popped up, but... Yeah there is a sea of nasty dudes out there who would pop up and we would disconnect immediately. :help: :scared:  NOT a place for 12 year olds!!

My approach has always been to educate, rather than cotton-wool. But Omegle -- no way would I allow access to that place if DD was much younger, or any less savvy, than she is.

Her take on it? "It's pedo paradise. Ew, avoid."

I think it really could be the girls at 0.53

AW YouTube Likes

Not sure how I didn't find this before. Uploads (if there were any) removed.

I'm 99% sure it is MG at 2:50.

Exact same glasses, same facial traits, same very long hair, check MG (smiling like the girl in the video + exact same glasses) at this link and compare:

I'm 99% sure it is MG at 2:50.

Interesting contrast in the reaction of the 2 girls:

[MG lookalike on initial appearance of Slender Man with wig]: "Oh cool..."

[Friend on removal of wig]: With wide eyes: "...hey, it's Slender Man!"

[MG lookalike on removal of wig]: "That's cool..."

The blonde girl didn't seem at all perturbed in contrast to others on the video.

One thing I hadn't read before was the captions to the right of the participants. The top one always say's "You're now chatting with a random stranger. Say hi!" The bottom one says "You both like " and then one of makeup, pinkstylist, YouTube, Horror/, Creepy Pasta. In the case of these girls it says "You both like Creepy Pasta".

Psychiatric Report

So the report was completed and received by the court on Tuesday. The psychiatrist involved is a widely-respected and experienced guy that interviewed, among others, Jeffrey Dahmer.

Article from Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

Ken Robbins

Subpoena made for access to State's evidence

The above article also discusses that the attorney for AW has requested to see the evidence of the State before the preliminary hearing. Normally this happens afterwards. The reason for this request is to determine whether the state can actually show that the charge made against AW is likely to be provable. I saw that according to court records, MG's attorney has joined this motion for MG's case.

For juveniles, in order for the criminal (adult) court to retain jurisdiction, the court must show that the charges made are highly likely to be proven. If there is doubt of this, then either jurisdiction is given to the juvenile court, or the case is dismissed.

While the preponderance of evidence seems to indicate that they planned to do it and actually did do it, we don't know:

- what PL has said in any statements, including any prior knowledge/involvement she may have had (e.g. some macabre game or prank)

- what the psychiatrist has said about MG

- whether either of the suspects' statements is accurate, and if so, which

- other contributing external factors (family situation, bullying (cyber or not), evidence of a third party involvement)

It would seem odd to me if the psychiatrist did not also interview AW, as it looks like the combination of the two was needed for this awful event to have taken place.

BTW, the court records are all available online:

MG did not invent this phrase.

It appears widely in a number of other contexts on the Internet, all of which predate the attack, going back to at least 2008. Googling it gets thousands of hits, only a few of which are connected with the case.

It's used in two broad ways:

- to denote either gameplay (where "Stabby" and "Stab" are both moves a user can make, similar to "jump" and "dodge")

- in the context of "comedy violence" involving sharp objects of any kind, especially in cartoons. (I will say that some of these cartoons are NOT akin to Tom and Jerry)

It's even been used as the title of a short film that won a Georgia film festival and the title of a song by band The Divorce.

The way it's used in MG's statement makes me wonder if rather than being callous, she simply thinks the stabbing wasn't real, and invoked a phrase that she'd heard to describe stabbing in a non-real context.

Just a thought.

Fascinating to watch the reaction of the kids on this reaction video. These were young kids on this site! And they were videotaped which is even more disturbing. Totally agree kids don't belong anywhere near Omegle.

Question: Is the victim going to have to appear at any of these hearings? Or are these hearings simply procedural?

  • #297
Preliminary Hearing

The victim does not need to appear. Even at trial I believe that she would not need to appear in person.

I noticed a flurry of activity today in the court records for both suspects - orders to seal court records and "other papers" were executed thus excluding them from public view. All court information is public record in Wisconsin except juvenile or cases involving sexual assault.

Not sure if this is significant or not. It could be the evidence that the suspects' attorneys had requested, and as its not known whether this will go to juvenile court yet, it had to be sealed. Just a guess.

  • #298
If the girls or girl had a psych exam I'm pretty certain the results would be immediately sealed until trial. Possibly more evidence was revealed but sealed. 0nly guessing.

I've never heard of omegle .......... it is something new? What is it's purpose.

Omegle is a chat site you can use with no registration and the purpose is to chat with random strangers. Just what all parents would want their kids doing, obviously...:scared:
