An autopsy Monday didn't provide many answers about Angela Drake's death, but her parents did get some comfort in the process.
They knew friends were caring for their daughter.
Dane County Coroner John Stanley and Deputy Coroner Jeff Sholts have known Drake's father, Larry Drake, as well as her mother and stepfather, Anne and Tim Olson, for years. So both coroners were in the examining room during her autopsy.
Sholts said he and Stanley were glad to be on hand when the family needed them.
"When it's someone you know, you want to do everything you can for them," Sholts said. "It's hard, but if you can give a family support during a time like this, well, you want to do it."
The coroners met her parents years ago through the parents' service with local EMS and fire departments, Anne Olson said.
Everyone has been supportive, Olson said, including police investigators and the media, who didn't overplay or underplay her daughter's disappearance.
Nancy Drake, Angela Drake's grandmother, said that on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, she sought solace by singing, as usual, in her Episcopalian choir at Good Shepherd Church in Sun Prairie.
She and her son, who lived with her granddaughter in the town of Oregon, have also been comforted by friends and family who are coming from Colorado and Kansas for the funeral.
There will be a prayer service at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Holy Mother of Consolation Church in Oregon followed by visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Another visitation will be at 10 a.m. Friday until the funeral starts at 11 a.m.
