MENOMONIE, Wis. (WEAU) -- The Dunn County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by a boater on the Chippewa River in Dunn County who reported that he believed he found a human body submerged in the river in the area of CTH H and STH 85 on Wednesday around 2:30 pm.

Deputies responded, assisted by Menomonie Fire Department and recovered the body of the man who appeared to have been in the water for some time.

An autopsy was done at the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s office in St. Paul Thursday morning. Deputies say there were no obvious signs of injuries to the body that would lead investigators to believe there was any foul play. Deputies say, if that information is confirmed, more information may be released by authorities in Eau Claire at a later time.

UW-Eau Claire Police officials have confirmed the body of 33-year-old Byron Reece has been found in the Chippewa River.

RIP Byron. Seems like he was really struggling. Poor guy.

Just so everyone knows - Brenden Felton of Eau Claire is still missing.
