I found this FB profile of a Carol Skaleski who went to a high school on the same side of the state as Oshkosh, who is the right age.

The last record I have of her residence aside from the divorce was 1950, when she was living in Illinois (chicago). I just think it's weird she would go missing from her brother, too. Husband? Maybe, if he was abusive. Also I think that profile is for a SkaLESki not Skalecki. Her husband is now dead. I personally think she's under that patio. But I don't know how they could check anymore.

I did find something interesting from 1953 that may explain why there is essentially nothing to find even with her maiden name being known. The names mentioned in the linked Chicago Tribune article matches that of the 1950 US Census, however the address in this article is not the same and is actually the address of what was at the time a charitable home for women. It is mentioned in the article that the children have been placed into foster homes. Given Carols age at the time, there could be a possibility that she ultimately was adopted, and as a result, could have changed her last name as a result, which could explain why there is essentially no information to be found with the maiden name (Not that there is really any under her married name either)

All this is of course my opinion only.
