Rest in peace Christopher.

Thanks everybody for warning me - I did not read the articles or posts that quoted them and I'm still teary eyed. Poor babies. I hope Christopher's sister is safe now.

6angels, the records show the worker visiting regularly. I have to wonder if the worker actually made those visits or just put dates in the file.

If they did that then as far as I'm concerned Christophers blood is on their hands as well. I know, I know, underpaid, under-funded, overworked, I get that. But for the love of God! We are talking about the lives and safety of the most innocent!!!!!

Bail out money given to companies that then turn around and give their employees obscene bonuses, and we can't f**king get enough money allocated to agencies created for the welfare of our children?????

There is NO EXCUSE!!!

She looks MEAN

So she miscarried her own baby then went on to abuse these children so terribly? Doesn't make sense--most people would treasure the little ones entrusted to their care if they couldn't have their own babies.

She does look mean AND she looks like she could care less :furious:

How utterly frightening that is the last face that Christopher saw.

I just can't understand, if you hate a child so much as to hurt them why not just "give them away" (what they are probably thinking, I by NO MEANS think it's ok to just give a child away, they should be loved and nurtured). The articles mention several families who wanted to adopt the child and even reported abuse!

OMGosh, this really hits me hard. What the hell is wrong with people? Better yet, what is wrong with our country that we can't have public hangings of these kinds of perps anymore? Seems these idots need a good stoning. Death by firing squad would be too fast. Electric chair would be too quick. Lethal injection would be too humane. Most of the time I'm on the fence with regards to the death penalty, but in this case...hmmm...sheeeit! I am saddened beyond belief. I can only have hope that the little surviving girl finds peace and happiness someday.

Some people see children as possessions more than caring about what the children really need.

Same here. This same social worker missed obvious signs in at least one other case where a child ended up dead. That makes me wonder how thorough the visit was or if the worker even went by the home.

Crystal Keith was convicted Thursday of the Nov. 11 beating death of 13-month-old Christopher Thomas and of torturing his 2-year-old sister.
The jury began deliberations at 10:37 a.m. and announced it had reached a verdict 46 minutes later.

Keith, 25, the children's aunt and kinship foster mother, was found guilty of one count of first-degree reckless homicide and one count of physical abuse of a child (intentionally causing great bodily harm).

She will be sentenced on July 7 and faces up to 75 years in prison. More at link: http://www.jsonline.com/news/milwaukee/44533022.html

This is so horrible!! I wonder if she became mentally unstable after the loss of her child or if she was like that before. She tells of the abuse as if she was telling someone what she had to eat the night before. Such a sick world we live in

From July 2009:

http://www.jsonline.com/news/milwaukee/50157372.html

Sullivan said he has been troubled by Keith's affectless presence throughout the trial. Even as photographs of Christopher and his sister's battered bodies were shown to the court on a large flat-screen monitor - images that Sullivan said he will never forget - Keith remained an imploded star, collapsed within herself.

"I want to hear (Keith) say something. Anything," Sullivan said. "Such horrendous crimes. You'd think there would be some expression of emotion."

Keith, 25, betrayed little emotion throughout most of the sentencing hearing, in which Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Patricia McMahon ordered her to serve the maximum penalty: 50 years in prison and 25 years of extended supervision.
