America's Most Wanted: Missing Persons spotlighted the case of a Wisconsin teenager who disappeared nearly two years ago.
About three hours before Yoblonski's father reported his son missing, a sheriff's deputy had found the family's van abandoned on the side of the road in the nearby town of Sumpter.
I just really suspect foul play because of this fact. If he was trying to ‘go off grid’ he would NOT park on a state highway. I think he met up with at least two people and someone parked the van there and threw his things in the woods.
He might have parked the van there so that it WOULD more easily be found, since it was the family vehicle and it wasn't like he was actually trying to steal it... just borrowing it. But he would probably want to be sure his dad got it back right away, imo.

It sure could go either way. It’s like the old saying, “Is the glass half empty or half full?”
If (and it's a big if) he was having some kind of mental breakdown, parking the van where it would be easily found might not have even crossed his mind. I don't think you can expect someone in a crisis mode to always behave logically.

Thursday marks two years since a Sauk County teenager went missing.
IMO, I think he took the phone so his father couldn't alert the authorities and also to plant it at the staged campsite to make sure the authorities found the staged campsite, just like the planted searches on the two cell phones he had about how to travel out of state. We're to believe a 13 year old could travel out of state by himself without food or money? And walking on top of that. That's just too outlandish to be believed.
I also might add that his father had security cameras that may have been linked to his cellphone, which, when activated, would give an alarm/notification that would wake his father up. He didn't use his father's phone to contact anyone. He likely had another phone for that purpose.
What photo did authorities release to the media that indicated a campsite? A single piece of clothing laying on the ground. Not very convincing. I'd like to see photos of the makeshift camp site. I believe James' father stated that the other clothing James left at the campsite was clothing that he didn't wear at all at home.
No scent of him was found leading into the woods from the makeshift campsite. The terrain around the makeshift campsite was so difficult to navigate that highly-trained searchers had to call it quits after a few days and we're supposed to believe a 13 year old carrying two large duffle bags and a backpack was able to? How did he even get them up that steep hillside?
A makeshift campsite is not a planned or designated camping location. It's put together quickly to meet an immediate need. Why set up a makeshift campsite in the middle of the night if you're going to be leaving right away?
He also took a goodly portion of his belongings with him that he hadn't left at the makeshift campsite. For what purpose? Because he still planned on using them. He had to have been picked up by someone else near his vehicle left on the road and who was probably involved. He most likely had another phone with him that he used to communicate with that other person. I believe that other person had coerced him into carrying out their plan to 'disappear'. I also think the disciplinary problems he had at school shortly before he went missing had something to do with his disappearance.
It's possible that he met up with the other (adult) person through one of the online games he played. I think 13 year old James was compromised, manipulated and deceived by that person.

Essentially, staging a campsite is a deliberate attempt to manipulate evidence and create a false narrative about what happened."
"We go camping on Father's Day (June 18) weekend," Bill (Yoblonski) said. "We go to the same place every year..." James left on June 12, 6 days before they were to go on their yearly outing.
I think the authorities came to the wrong conclusion in this case, and, unless they get a new lead, they won't do any more searches or investigating, IMO.
Last, but not least, it was foggy that morning and the temperature got down to 39 degrees °F (5:30 am) that morning in Sauk County. Not exactly makeshift camping weather in the early morning. When he left the house James was wearing a short-sleeved shirt. And they want us to believe a 13 year old walked off into the rugged woods with two duffle bags and a backpack into the foggy darkness? Pardon my skepticism, but I don't think so.
