A lot of folks don’t think he did this alone. I do. It is totally a one person crime, like other similar ones. Not sure what others are thinking is so odd.
I'm having a hard time believing no one else in his life knew about it after the fact, or at least suspected something odd was going on. It's possible, but I am suspicious.

I wonder what else he has done. You don't go from nothing to a double homicide and abduction and God knows what else he has done to the poor girl.

Hope they check his DNA to see if he's in a database.
Oh his DNA is going to be entered.

I’m sure there are previous crimes, but this very well might have been his first violent one.

You’re right, it’s a hell of a leap to go from nothing, to a crime like this.

Jayme is a child and the act of testifying and having see her kidnapper/assailant in the courtroom to answer difficult questions from HIS attorney has to be carefully considered with input from those professionals who will oversee her care.

Both Smart and Dugard got to return home to their loving parents. Jayme does not. If the DA wants to treat her with kid gloves, kudos to him.

JMO

She won’t ever have to see a courtroom.

Best home defense...who’d a thunk it...a shotgun! Most bang for ur buck, even in the dark. Or in crimes also apparently...screw a security system, dog and a shotgun is all I need! FYI taught my daughter to shoot at 12, ya know just in case
The Closs' had 3 guns and a dog in the house.

I have to wonder if he was flying under the radar for years. It really is a leap to go from being a quiet kid in high school to home invasion, murder, kidnapping and abduction.

  • #826
It was not clear if that happened during these ninety days, or over the years, etc
Surely Jayme would have said if there gangs of people there. She seemed to have told LE only about him.

I could’ve sworn there was a mention in MSM he has people over to the cabin and put her in a hiding spot, but can’t find it now.

Yeah, you can be armed to the teeth, but if you’re caught off guard in a blitz-style assault like this, you don’t have a prayer.

Do you think that JP could have gone to her events - remember that he shaved his head? They wouldn't have even considered him to be the person that kidnapped Jayme?
JMO
IDK. I would imagine their recitals are like most places, you see the families of the girls and a few people involved in working on the recital. Someone not related to any of the girls would stand out, especially a young man.

Sounds like he had nothing else to do and just spent his time plotting this crime. I doubt they will find any other major crimes.

Could have had a mental breakdown for some “unknown” reason. Everyone’s life is different and there is a breaking point to all of us. If u say no, I’m good, you haven’t been thru hell then. I’ve dang near been there for reasons nothing like this. There is only so much one person can take before they break. Homie had no record then snapped to do what he did...why?

He seems to have lived a relatively isolated existence, especially recently.

This really helped him in regards to getting away with this for as long as he did.

Really? Did not see that.

I got the same impression, based on the photo comment and his overall appearance.

My take is different though.

If he did join the military, it would have been very short lived. He might have been discharged during boot camp (failure to adapt).

I absolutely do not think he served for any length of time, nor did he deploy.

We still haven’t heard anything about military service though, so I want to make it clear that this is just speculation, based on knowledge of the process.

I think his inability to keep a job is an indication he is incapable of following orders. No way would he make it past boot camp.

All I can is:

Eventually, we need to know, if possible, how he found and chose Jayme. For public safety reasons.

And if he assaulted her, he needs that charge to be added. No way that should slide. He needs the big red S for sex offender.

If he gets 140 yrs in prison with chance of parole after 120 yrs... Shouldn’t we let jayme decide?? I doubt if she was assulted 40’times she would want to relive or have world discuss...if he’s locked up and she’s happy... that works for me

There’s a foreclosed, bank owned home on my street. It’s been empty for almost 3 years. The electricity is still on. I assumed so pipes wouldn’t freeze in the winter, etc. there’s always a interior light kept on as well.

Guns prob in safe for safety reasons. I did the same when my daughter was her age. They do no good locked up if they are needed. Mine are within an arms reach these days.

Hold on... that’s not for certain. He went off somewhere *possibly* but not sure where, based on a picture here posted a few back.
Yes trying to catch up reading all the posts and jumped the gun, I saw later it was just an opinion. Thank you!

Maybe I am a sociopath, because I don’t have any problem seeing this guy doing this as his first crime. I had expected this age group, white male, who did not have much happening in his life. And some of these people live in their own little fake worlds. He had nothing but time to make his fantasy happen.

All it would take is one afternoon for him to see where this young girl lived.

I walk my little dog most afternoons. I can tell you all right now where all the children in my neighborhood live. The school bus stops down the street, and every day I see the same kids walking up to their front doors. Some have family that meet them at the front. Most do not.

Did Jayme walk to her home after school, now that she was 13? That seems to be the age that kids begin making their own way from the bus or from their after school activities.

He could have seen her at Burger King and followed her as she walked home. Or as she left her friends house. Or her Mom picked her up from dance class, and he followed them one day.

She lived on a highway. I doubt that there was much walking on the highway.

She would be picked up and dropped off at her driveway by the schoolbus.

Cars must stop a certain length behind or in the opposite lane and wait until the stop arm is retracted and the red lights stop flashing.

I think that is when he saw her. Either in the AM or the PM. The bus stops long enough for any drivers to get a nice look at the child.

She would be the only one getting on and off the bus at her driveway
