Gordon may indeed be quaint, but it's a wonderful way of life, country living and woods and water; God's Country in my book. Which is why I spent over 30+ years there. I moved for my career after divorce; options for decent paying jobs in the area are nil. A few little restaurants between Solon Springs, Gordon, Barnes, Wascott & Minong. All within driving distance but don't leave home on empty :). If I could move back there tomorrow, I would!

And Trego :)

No that area is about 45 minutes from me. In another town. There is shooting in my area, but usually hunting. Never at cars or people. I live in the Country. The other area is 45 minutes away in a city. It is a bad area. I'm scared to drive through that city.

Thanks for replying. I'm not familiar with areas where people generally own guns. So I might misconstrue things due to cultural ignorance.

Someone from that general area mentioned that there are winter rates that are lower. How much can a utility bill be in that area? I really don't know...
That’s odd. Propane is usually more expensive in the winter. Of course, we don’t know how the house was heated. But still - propane prices follow supply and demand. You can get discounts on summer fills. I’d like to know what kind of heat is cheaper in winter.

(The result here will definitely influence how I view cases going forward.

(Castro’s victims and AH were also an influence, but this has really re-opened my eyes.)

Just a small digital forensic reality check here:

There is absolutely no way that ANY agency can say with certainty, 24 hours after learning an alleged perpetrator's identity, that that individual "had no electronic contact with the victim."

It is simply not possible.

Until today--theoretically--police and FBI and other agencies had zero knowledge as to the identity of the accused (right?)

There is no way that within 24 hours these agencies, now suddenly learning the accused's name, were able to pursue and eliminate every possible digital forensic trail. My god, it takes months, sometimes, to even determine what someone's various usernames are/were.

It is not physically possible to eliminate all possibility of digital contact between two individual in under 24 hours. Entire agencies, in fact, exist because of this impossibility.

I'm sure police were being honest when they said they had no knowledge to date of electronic contact. That does not mean electronic contact will not be discovered.

I don't mean consensual contact; I mean whether or not he was stalking her. That cannot possibly yet be known, as they only learned his name in the past 24 hours. It will take many, many weeks--possibly months--to fully understand any online presence he may have had.
They had Jayme's electronics. They have always said they found nothing on her SM that she was communicating with someone.

They had communications from her end, from her devices.

They’ve had months to establish a connection, and found nothing.

She has talked to LE, and he may have.

She doesn’t know him, but somehow, he knows her.

The implication was that Jayme had no idea who he was.
And until I hear otherwise there is no evidence to suggest any connection period
ETA clarifying that I do not believe there was any contact or relationship - digital or otherwise- prior to the abduction by Jayme can’t we please just stop this speculation?

My guess.... the dad said, ok if you want you can keep living there, but you have to start paying the mortgage.

Talk about the perfect cover... he’s living in home that records show is an older divorced man...fits the demo area perfectly.

that would stick out quite a bit if u have 20 homes owned by 40-60 yr olds and one owned by 21 yr old.... don’t know if he was avoiding gift/inheritance tax or just playing old man like a fiddle.

You know many posts ago I suggested this whole killing and abduction could have been completely random. Hence no social media or connections of any kind. Could it be?

Many people have suggested this scenario. Next to it being someone they'd had a casual encounter with, this has been the second most popular theory. Since LE has stated that the extended family didn't know JP but that the crime was also pre-planned, it sounds like it may be a combination: a pre-planned crime based on a random experience with Jayme.

Ha! Just remember, this is an exceptional result.

This almost never happens.

Maybe the credit union was letting him stay there in return for him being a "care-taker" while they had it on the market?

It's not listed anywhere as being on the market, now or any time recently.

Has everyone watched the press conference or read the recaps?
I didn't see the second PC. Cried during the first. I joined WS watching this case and I think I was one of the few who believed she might have been held captive. The longer she was gone, the more I thought the wort had happened. I'm beyond thrilled that Jaymee escaped ad that he is awaiting trial!

Do you renember when you said on here that Eau Claire was stuck in your mind or something like that? I remember because I got a big speeding ticket there once because the state highway patrol has an office right there.
Don't ever speed on 94 in Eau Claire County. Or in Dane County. JFYI

Sorry. I am too triggered by this subject I suppose. It just bothers me that some are comparing this to the #metoo movement. This specific situation is nothing like that at all. This is much more serious, severe and traumatizing. She saw her parents brutally killed as part of this violent incident.
That’s the thing. When a kidnapping victim is rescued, we celebrate, as we should.

In most cases, they have been through hell, but the silver lining is that they are going home to their parents.

Not only did she go through physical and emotional trauma that is unimaginable, but she did it with the knowledge that her parents were dead.

She saw them murdered before her very eyes.

It’s something that’s easy to lose in the joy of her safe return.

You don't have central heat and air? Like I said I don't live there so I don't know what utilities run. But, there were posts early on about people leaving the electricity on in their cabins because rates were less. I was not addressing propane prices... electrical. I wasn't thing of heat run with propane, but that makes perfect sense.

I agree about triggers directly from the assault/trauma. A few of mine are 1 particular song, a smell and St Patty’s Day. The important thing is to know we CAN persevere. It’s not easy, but the more we learn about the effects of psychological trauma on the brain, the more hope there is that one day, maybe a simple pill will make living with PTSD triggers a thing of the past. Hey, I can hope!

Off topic, but rapid resolution therapy changed my life

This thread is getting a little ugly. Thanks to those of you thinking of Jayme and her parents and not blaming them for this horrific situation. She's home tonight, probably cuddled up with her pup, in a nice warm bed and clean clothing, with a full belly, and hopefully a full heart.

Per douglas county deed register office which you can log in and see: LandShark :: Log In

Grantor listed as credit union, Patterson listed as grantee.

For now I think I am going to listen to the deed's office vs. MSM. It's all confusing.

It’s central, but utilizes propane. Most people I know don’t have electric only heat because it can be really high. It takes electricity for the fans to blow the heat in, whatever the source, unless you have a boiler and radiators (which my work does still have).

Way behind. But in the last thread someone asked if Wisconsin has ever had a public trial. Yes. The Dahmer trial was televised, I watched the whole thing, because I wanted to try to understand what can happen to a person's mind, to do things like that? Instead, I watched days of testimony about the horrible details he did to each person, while watching their families devastated faces. Just watching scarred me. And in the end, he never said a word. I regretted watching. But, yes.

A little comment to a couple other things I saw on the last thread. I heard FB locked up Patterson's account, not that he did. I suppose to preserve for evidence. And I thought Sheriff Fitzgerald's elation at the press conference was quite reasonable and appropriate.

Sleuthing, while Patterson had a clean record, his older brother certainly did not. Even though he's a big guy, his brother is a lot bigger, and several years older. I wouldn't be surprised if he had a lot of trauma as a youngster. The parents divorced, and pretty much just went their separate ways seemingly leaving the kids to their own devices. I think his history will show a lot of things that contributed to him being pretty screwed up. I wish, that what could come of cases like this, would be to somehow identify these people and get them help BEFORE they go own to destroy others. Of course there's too many problems with it, it's impossible, it violates people's rights, to do something before they have committed a crime. But, I can wish.

His brother had one 4th degree sexual assault from when he was 17/18 and the accuser (perhaps via her parents) was 15. We'd have to know more before presuming that was something other than a consensual relationship, during high school, that angered the parents. The other stuff was a few marijuana charges and a speeding ticket.
