Just a thought. He may have had internet access through a cell phone. I know people that do almost everything from their cell phones. Banking, emails, social media, etc..

Everything through phone is common, which makes him so out of step.... age 21, his brother is 24 yrs old, so three yrs older. His brother and him used to commit petty crimes, brother uses cell phone / Facebook/ police scanner, don’t u think they talked ?? Even before he went to Colorado..

Also if he has phone, he can create personal hotspot anytime/ anywhere and use laptop.
Put if he’s playing first person shooters at home he needs solid internet... so likely there if he’s gaming... Ud think

Jayme escaped on the same day that the FB group falsely announced that she'd been found. JP had told her that he'd be gone until midnight. Now assuming he really DID intend to stay out until midnight, I wonder if the reason he came back so suddenly is because he heard the rumors that she'd been found. That's another reason why rumors and false information can be dangerous. They were only within a few minutes of passing each other (and did pass each other when she was in the squad car). If she'd waited just a few minutes longer before escaping, if he'd been a little bit faster or left just a little sooner, she may not have made it to the dog walker.

Lotta people thought that and it would make sense... maybe he’s going to burn the house down and laptop/ gun... get those ..

It is stunning she escaped..
for 300$ u could buy a large dog cage...unless he drugged her constantly I don’t know why he was so confident... reason I mention drugging is the rescuers offered drinks.. or water... she said no... wouldn’t she be thirsty as hell..

Plus she pops up from under bed ... and then puts the wrong shoe on each foot... I’m sure her hearts pounding and ready to bolt just unique side note she had shoes on wrong feet.... why jake wouldn’t keep all clothes locked up and shoes out of reach is kinda telling... he’s a child and it’s not his house...

Less than 50$... he could make motion detectors that would text him if she’s moving.... don’t know if he built something or just didn’t put any effort into it..anymore..

Very out of step for a very long time based on my interpretation of a long time. I wonder when his brother left and if it possibly fueled a desire to turn fantasy into reality. Take what he felt he deserved and feel he was in control. His brother living with him may have been the only thing that kept him grounded to reality even in an imperfect situation. And you're right about the hotspot. I don't really know about the personal shooter game but my adult son (combat vet) plays war type games on the latest high tech game system (VR included) using his phone internet so might be possible. JP does strike me as a gamer but thats a guess on my part. All of this is pure speculation on my part. This case has my brain reeling.

BBM

It doesn't surprise me that she turned down food and drink. I am sure her adrenaline was really kicking in. When you get an adrenaline rush (which I know I'd certainly get if I'd just escaped from my kidnapper's lair), the surge overrides a lot of other things in the body. Your brain makes you become more focused on that particular task. My guess is that she didn't start feeling hungry or thirsty until once she was safely in the hospital, her family on the way, and the news that JP had been arrested.

I wouldn’t be surprised if she was never tied up, atleast after the initial kidnapping.

He would have used fear to control her, and probably didn’t feel the need to go any further in that regard.

He saw himself one way, and likely thought that she saw him the same way he projected.

Jayme apparently saw through him, and took advantage of his complacency.

The wording about the backlight is a little confusing but would make sense if it were a motion detector light.
"Upon arrival, Deputy Pressley reports there were no outside lights on at the residence and no screaming or signs of distress consistent with the 911 call coming from inside. Deputy Pressley reports he observed there was a light on in the residence in the upstairs northwest corner window. As he walked around the back of the residence, Deputy Pressley observed an upstairs light on the back side of the residence."

My read of this was that lights were on in the parents' bedroom and in the bathroom, nothing else. The bathroom light wouldn't have been visible to the deputy til he got to the back of the house.

She was in the house when he killed her parents so she knew what he was capable of. She didn't know where she was exactly, right? Was there a TV in the house?

Exactly, there was no question that this guy was incredibly dangerous. She knew what he was capable of.

Based on her comments to the lady who encountered her after her escape, she had no clue where she was.

Before there was a question about how he communicated with people. He mentioned that he found out who she was after he killed her parents and kidnapped her. It sounds like he was keeping tabs on the investigation. He had to have a cell phone.

He applied online for that liquor store job, so at the every least he had access to the internet, in whatever form that took.

Let me guess, on mom or dads plan and not in his name.

Re-reading the criminal complaint, I still can't help but get over the fact that he nearly slipped and fell on the pooling blood during his escape. That could have easily made up for the 20 seconds that transpired from his escape and law enforcement heading to the scene. I wish he would have slipped.

Whether the Patterson "retreat" has the main rooms upstairs or downstairs.

I’m confused. Was the Daily Mail pic not the front of the house? If that was the back, I see what you mean. But it appeared to be a two story house. I assumed that the door with “Patterson’s Retreat” was the front.

I could be wrong, I'm not certain. If you look at the photo of the house from the side at Jake Patterson charged with kidnapping, murder in Jayme Closs...
it looks like in the rear is a large main room with the ceiling in the state of the front room pictures we saw. And then in the front appears to be kitchen cabinets.
Ok wait.... yup I've got it matched up now. This page has some interior pictures. Photos: Inside the house where Jayme Closs was held
Look at the next to the bottom picture, the one with the rocking chair, kitchen sink, and the tv. Above the tv, in the window see the headphones hanging there? Now go back to the side view of the exterior of the house. In the upper front window you can see the headphones. So the first interior we saw, with the rocking chair, kitchen etc, the view we first saw, was the 2nd floor, looking from the back to the front of the house.
More detail I just noticed. Near those headphones there's a rabbit ears. That's how he got TV. He should be close enough to pick up broadcast tv from Duluth with rabbit ears. Especially if their broadcast antenna are up on the hill and why wouldn't they be. Duluth, MN - TV Channels & Antenna Map
The picture above that, with the heap of lumber and pictures, would be the 2nd floor looking across the back of the house, from the "right" to the "left" if your perspective is from outside the front of the house. The deck would be behind us, in this photo, so this may have been taken looking in the deck door.
The room with the stuffed pig would be in the basement, judging by the duct work and pipes. This is not the room where he had her stay under the bed because the mattress is on the floor.
The bottom picture appears to be some kind of a family room or rec room, but it's definitely in the basement, because we can see the main beam. The beam would be running lengthwise in the house, below and parallel to the ridge. So we don't have the location of this room but we have at least the orientation.

Strange article there Caylee.

She went to school with them and she thought his brother was cute? That’s what she offered. SMH

“My grandfather has been interviewed by the FBI,” she said. “While he talks a lot I really can’t repeat what he’s said… other than Good Morning America wants to interview him too.”

Huh.

Well, that article was informative-not because it was full of worthwhile content, but because it's proof that high-profile crimes bring people out of the woodwork, whether they have relevant things to say or not. Though, to be fair, she did mention a sexual assault charge and some drug charges,so there's that.

Does anyone know if Jayme and her family were his only victims? Did he try to kidnap other young girls? Had he killed before? Just wondering how he advanced to murdering 2 innocent adults and kidnapping .
