This ^^^ makes me very happy. I posted a few times, in earlier threads, that my wish was that they would not charge him with some of the crimes, so that Jayme wouldn't need to deal with all of the details being revealed publicly. Let her have some privacy and move on with her childhood. She is still a little girl and needs some time and privacy to heal.

My vote for post of the day!

This made me reach for the tissues once again. IMO you have an impressive way of showing your empathy.

I bolded your statement (in the box) because that is how this better all play out. Woe to anyone who even contemplates pursuing anything further. I'm not sure if I am saying that right.

Anyway, I do hope Jayme makes a wonderful life for herself. THAT, she deserves. You know? She knows she saved herself. That strength of her being, will serve her well always. IMHO of course.

Yes, I think that testifying against him for the murder of her parents and her abduction could be therapeutic for Jayme. Let her face him in court and stand up for her parents and help convict this vile young man, and lock him up forever. I am all for that. We all know those gory details and he has legally confessed to it all.

Even if he pleads guilty and there is no trial, she would still be allowed to give an impact statement in court, which would be a good thing too. JMO

Okay. So many good posts from so many people. I would reply to them all, but I'm trying my best not to clog up the pages. This too, considered a top post of the day.

I hope that a healing Jayme makes the right decision, for her. I am positive she will do well for herself.

The Douglas County DA, all but said that he won’t be filing any charges in relation to her kidnapping there.

His reason for doing so, was clearly to protect Jayme.

The possibility of future charges, is likely a safety net, in case the unthinkable happens (it won’t).

I fully anticipate that he will only ever be charged with what he is currently indicted on.

The announcement is significant because it could mean that details of any abuse Jayme suffered while in captivity may be kept private.”

Douglas County will not file complaint against accused Jayme Closs abductor in 'immediate future'

I know I said I would not post toooo many opinions. Or replies to really nice/good posts. I just had to with this one!

I like your positivity in how the unthinkable won't happen. I concur!

Some insight into why Investigators believed JC was being held.

Jayme Closs Case: Former WI Attorney General opens up about investigation
It's interesting looking back now seeing why Sheriff F was so positive that Jayme was alive, and the very specific plea Aunt Jen made to the public all make much more sense with what has been learned by JP's arrest. No doubt in my mind the LE/FBI profile of the suspect impacted every word of information that was released to the public.

LE was walking a very fine line knowing the brutality JP was capable of and fearing for Jayme's safety. I can't imagine the anger, stress, grief and despair LE and the Closs families endured during this time.

Jayme saved herself from JP no doubt 100%, but I believe LE's handling of this case helped keep her alive long enough to escape.

All excellent points... great post.. maybe it had an impact.. I still think JP thought this was possibly it... and he would die that evening... either by cop or his own hand.

If he’s to be believed, October 3/4 to the 15th his obsession is to kill and kidnap a girl he’s seen once... yet based on police report there was O plan what to do with jayme at house... no large dog cage.. no barricaded double bolt room... no extra food. He slides his bed to block 3 sides that night .... ??

Plans the murder... erases his own tracks for years....nothing else... I think jake planned on shooting jayme shortly after.. for whatever reason.. didn’t.. maybe press conferences and fitz gomer pyle act kept jayme alive ... ??? good post NONAME.

JUST IN: Charges will *not* be brought against Jake Patterson in Douglas Co. Many legal analysts expected this so that the possible ugly details from what happened to Jayme Closs in that home wouldn't be revealed.

PRAISE & HALLELUJAH! I’m so glad those details won’t be made public. That’s something only Jayme and whomever she tells should know. Reliving any of this can keep retraumatizing her. Just the murder of her parents is traumatic all by itself. I hope the public butts out of details that are none of their business. Let Jayme’s family, and possibly drs/therapists, take care of her and help her heal as much as is possible. I want for Jayme to be able to feel all the love and protection around her, and keep her private life just that: Private. All JMO, of course.

I believe there are angels everywhere, in many forms, but particularly in the form of a “lady walking her dog.” Jayme found one and the little boy lost in the briars was heard crying, by a lady walking her dog. Keep walking your dogs, especially in winter! Bundle up & don’t be too quick to hurry back inside please!

I haven’t posted this for a bit. If you’d like to send a card of encouragement to let Jayme know you’re thinking about and/or praying for her, I’m including the addy. Let’s help her see how many people care about her nationally and internationally. (This is a PO Box set up by friends of the family and thoroughly vetted before passing on to Jayme/her family.):)

Given we do not know much about Jake nor his relationship with his parents and siblings I think it may be possible he may not want to "go there" to protect himself and the rest of the family from further "shame"..... Although, it could be the complete opposite (as I do not think he has shown any remorse) that he may want to put forth all of his shameful acts, that are unknown to the general pubic in order to further shame and embarrass or punish his family, and Jayme, for whatever his sick mind decides is fair. I think he is, and was, out for retribution of some sort with all of what he did and what he will do or say as this case plays out, I just have no clue as to why or what may motivate him.

Possibly he is on a gag order from the DA? Eg: he won’t be charged with other crimes at this point so long as he agrees to keep the details private. If he spills they charge. And toss him in general population...?

I doubt they would give him that much power. After all, he has nothing to lose.

I agree. No expert and cannot even begin to assume, but I think to she may want to or wish she had testified against him. To show her life is going on while she is helping to put him away for the murder of her parents. On the other hand, she is very young and I can see not doing so, I just hope some day she never wishes she had. This man needs to go away for good and she is a key part of that. There is a balance of protecting the public and the victim. If the case is in any way questionable, or there is not a ton of evidence as we have been led to believe, she will be needed for the Barron events. But again, if it goes to trial, I believe it will be quite some time before it does. No rush.

Yes, amazing, like directed from above.

From my family's personal experience with a pedophile, children sometimes block out traumatic things that happen to them. One of the girls would start to tell what happened, then cry and say, "That's when I went into the trance." Self-protection. I feel very sure Jayme's family will not push her to remember.

There is enough physical evidence to keep the creep in jail for life without her having to relive it all before she's ready. There is so much evidence he could be convicted even if Jayme had not lived. Having the murder weapon on his property is huge. I would think Jayme's DNA is in the trunk (urine, for sure) and all over his house. The DA can use the crimes at the house for a bargaining tool. Then JP can go to prison as a big, bad murderer and not a pedophile. MOO

Watching the 20/20 on Cary Stayner last night, it's amazing at how far the media has come from Steven Stayner's abduction in the 70s. When he was reunited with his family, the media actually announced that there were "homosexual relations" with him and his captor. He was 7 years old when he was kidnapped-that's not a relationship, that's a pedophile raping a child. It caused a ton of problems with bullying in his high school. They also had Steven and his family doing press conferences and interviews right there on the steps of his home as he was being reunited with the rest of his family. And when he appeared on "Good Morning America", the interviewer even asked him why he'd never tried to escape.

At least, if nothing else, we've come farther than that. Of course, now we have a lot more understanding of trauma, particularly when it comes to abductions.

Great points.

I was not even talking about SA and have no need to even think about it other than he should take and be punished for anything he did IF she decides to go there or they decide to go there.

I was talking about the murders and the kidnapping. From what we have been told they have no DNA, prints, etc. He shaved his head, wore two pair of gloves, and so forth. He did confess so they have a case but that would give defense just one thing to argue or try to tear apart. The ballistics on the rifle will probably match. I am just saying that she is the one witness to it all and that makes the Barron charges an even stronger case to a jury.

Your great point though of saying that they can say not to him, but to his attorneys, that we have all these other things we can charge him with, but if he pleads guilty and takes life in prison without parole, we won't charge those is a great point... If you do not put this victim through anymore there is a snowball's chance in hell they may look at you a little better (maybe in later years) on sentencing but you are done either way JTP.... I totally agree that is likely going on.

Which I why I am thinking that may be the next thing we hear, that he pleads? It may even have something to do with the "no charges" from Douglas right now statement. I guess we will find out.

Whatever illegal was done, he should have got charged. You never know what can happen on 40 years.

People in prison have it better than free homeless people in America.

No. This is about the best interests of the victim.

They have enough to nail him for two murders, and a kidnapping.

He will serve life without parole, no matter what.

Jayme has been victimized enough. I absolutely love this decision by the district attorney.
