Abbreviated by me for focus....only posted this because it is completely possible for children to have communication online that aren't stored in history where LE could even locate it.
@ShaylaVale when my 22 yr old son was a teen I heard him talking to what I thought was a man in his bedroom. Then I hard rounds of laughter tht sounded like a party..I forced his door w/ a toothpick it was a game online. I had NO idea his system or game had tht capability. Over time they all would swap games and share consoles and he woukd have a headset I disnt buy and then his friend would have it and he'd have his friends game. Alot of sharing of equipment and software. Sounded innocent enough and my son would say "OMG mama, nobody is coming to get us God". (Typical teen come back) I always felt safe but thy are in your home through gaming while parents are 1 room over thinking what can happen theyre with us we can see them. While some weirdo is talking to our teens in their bedroom...

Hi Everyone,

I totally understand what you’re saying about the gaming thing. What I’m curious about is the bit you mentioned about swapping headphones and equipment. Is there something that is of concern about doing that? Just curious because I have heard there is some problem but cannot remember what it was, other than getting your own piece back and it has been broken, but that is not what I mean

I'm not so sure about that. I wonder if this is talk that goes around in town as well.

Probably but imo it's those who do not even know the families personally.

That's how it usually goes in the rumor and gossip mill bashfest.

Iirc Fitzgerald did say to please stop the rumors as they are hurtful to the families. I am sure this included not only those without any knowledge of the facts in the community but the internet masses as well.

Like in all unsolved cases it never stops the ones hellbent on spreading rumors and false allegations. They seem to relish in doing so. It's become quite bizarre imo.

This seem to have started around the mid 2000s and only has worsened each year.

I remember many many cases where rumors and highly inflammatory allegations were made out of thin air.

One example was when the two young girls were found murdered in a ditch on a rural road in OK.

Immediately the majority were 100 percent convinced one of the young girls grandfathers had murdered them both.

They accused him of being a pedophile saying he had raped them both and murdered them to keep from telling anyone.

Posters on many social media sites pretended to be 'in the know.' Pretended to have close contact with LE. Most totally believed the attention seeking trolls but it was all lies.

Unfortunately many are very willing to believe the worst. The blaming and bashing of the grandfather was horrendous and went on for many years. Then finally the one who had done both murders of the girls was caught and was a complete stranger to the victims who had also murdered his girlfriend. If he had not been caught I have no doubts whatsoever they would still be spewing their false blame game against an innocent man.

But there are many others just like that one where either the victim was bashed relentlessly or their innocent family members were falsely accused.

I wish there was some way to stop all of it. It is so damaging to the victims and families. It's also a negative for the police who are investigating the cases.

There has been a few cases that ended in successful lawsuits against the ones who made totally false allegations against innocent people on internet sites.

There needs to be more lawsuits brought or it's only going to get worse for crime victims and their families.

To my knowledge there is not a problem with swapping equipment. But, my son was having conversations by headset then. I had no idea who all talked to him. The kids he played with would usually brush those ppl off. But, the adults that seemed alright they'd develop a level of admiration for their skills (yes this is gaming and some colleges now offer scholarships for esports etc, it's a big deal and I rofl, sorry gamers lol) Some equipment may have more capabilities compared with the child's own equipment, that us parents have no idea is possible. Like SnapChat (it's not equipment) but, if you don't turn off your location anybody can see where you're located. So, I would just be cautious and find out what the equipment's capabilities are before allowing my child to use it, Google it. And now they can share games without buying them....so my nephew and son share games...if my nephew wasn't' 17 yrs, his mother may not appreciate him playing the violent games & talking to whoever pops up to play with them online. So 1 kid buys the game and shares it with others, that's a very basic understanding I have of the capability.

Fortunately the comment on quest book was reported to the funeral home and is gone. It will no longer mar what is meant to be expressions of love and sympathy for family members.

OK. Thanks. I just somehow remember a friend once saying her son was trading consoles back and forth like you mentioned and I thought she said she was worried that they could hear on the speaker what was going on in their house or something similar. Brrrr. I don’t like the idea of that, if it even was that. She has since moved so I am not sure what happened.

Since we are talking about postings and whether they are real or not , can someone explain to me the Instagram in Jayme’s name that still seems active online? I only know the basics of Instagram.
Is this account fake ?I’m asking because it amazes me that new people still keep following it . ? Anyone else notice this ? Thanks to anyone who can clarify this for me !
The only instagram account that i can find under Jayme's name looks empty... there are no posts on it and only 3 people its following

I always kept our PC in the living room. Hoping that would discourage any bad behaviour. They also knew that I checked up on them. Not all the time, but once in a while so they knew they were being watched.
I was in the process of leaving my husband, and the computer stayed with him.
Not long after I left my daughters best friend was found killed in a motel room. She was full of drugs and was laying in a bathtub covered in vomit.
Come to find out my ex was allowing unlimited access to the computer where the girls were posting to Sugar Daddy adds on Craig's List... She met up with some guy (she was only 15) and wound up dead. That could have been my daughter.
The internet is not safe for kids/teens that aren't being supervised. They dont think ahead at the dangers they are putting themselves in.

That's so awful and scary. I am so sorry. So glad your daughter is safe! The internet can be very dangerous. Even the most innocent kids can be fooled by adults pretending to be in their age group in hopes of befriending and getting to know kids. One friend may even tell another a certain online person is ok which can provide a false safety net. Over time they instill trust and the things that can happen, as we all know, are horrific. Kids never think things can happen to them.

People are afraid to report things for more reasons then I can list. It's a scary thing to some especially if they know people involved. Can't say this is the case for this person as I have no idea but it's not uncommon.
Man, isn’t this the truth! I once saw someone taking my neighbors truck at 12:30am with a chain, making all sorts of noise in the middle of the night, so I called police because I thought it was being stolen. The police ended up coming to my house questioning who my husband was and why he was in my house (he’s a different race than I am which clearly made them suspicious)? I will think twice before reporting something again, even though I have absolutely nothing to hide.

I have to admit, I am so confused and stumped about this case. I feel bad for her family. The way the crime was committed is so untypical for a child abduction.

I totally agree, which is why I lean toward that not being the original intent. But I can't dismiss it entirely, because I know of other cases where a child was taken right out of bed. So it remains a possibility.
This seemed more like a surgical strike. We still don't know the timing for certain, though. If the perps were there for over 20 minutes, then child abduction seems much less indicated. If it was indeed a quick strike, in and out very quickly, less than 10 minutes, then in my mind this increases the possibility that the intent was child abduction. But it just doesn't feel right to me, at midnight on a Sunday with the family all at home, and no attempt at stealth.

I found an account under Jamie Lynn Closs that has her name and picture on it and is not private and has over 600 followers and only following 3.There aren't any posts, but the followers keep increasing. But I was informed earlier on this thread(thank you) that sometimes accounts that aren't private are actually fake and set up in another persons name for other reasons. I was curious because on the non private account I found some of those 600+ followers are a bit questionable.IMO.
