If they had a suspect, they would have moved on him by now.

You have two dead victims, and a third who is in immense danger. They wouldn’t be focused on any sort of long game here, as they have a life hanging in the balance.

There would be searches of his property, and we would likely have heard about him.

Disagree. We don’t know enough about the surrounding facts to say that. They could be watching 24/7 and waiting until they are able to safely make a move

Ok, so I finally have something real to contribute on this 911 cell thing, thanks to my county sheriff's department. I could not figure out how to enable ES on my phone and I was kind of stressing about the possibility that if I called 911 and couldn't speak, they wouldn't be able to find me immediately. I live in rural IL (Andy Griffith stuff here). I finally just called the sheriff's department to ask if I needed to download an app or something, or if they could find me quickly.

She told me they should be able to find me immediately. Then she asked if I wanted to test it and told me to call 911. So I did. She answered and had my location down within seconds.

I now have no questions about how the police arrived within 4 minutes of the call. The cops would have been at my house by now, before I finished this message because they have the technology, and let's face it, they don't have much more important things to do in a rural community.

Great info, thank you. Does that technology work if you are driving around with the phone in your car, or at a restaurant? Or do they only know your home address?

Originally, I thought that she had a teen boyfriend and they got caught and they argued with the parents, and he got violent, which wa sa total surprise to her. But no one in the town seems to know about him, and no one seems to have report ed a missing teen boy, so IDK anymore about that scenario.

Also, that report of the shooting through the front door, really goes against my original theory. Now I asm thinking it was someone who was interested in the 13 yr old, and forced his way in, violently.

If it was an online boyfriend, he could be from anywhere, though. He could be 18 or 19 and at that age would not necessarily be reported missing. Even if he was reported missing, it might go under the radar if he was from out of state. Our best hope here is that he thinks he rescued her, that he feels affection or some twisted love for her. If that's the case, then hopefully she'll come home alive.

Now that I've typed all that, I realize LE would probably already know if this were the case because they would have already been through her SM. :(

I just hope there's a break in this case very soon.

If LE has reason to believe that a kidnapping victim is being held at a particular location, they wait only as long as necessary to assemble a team to make entry, or at a minimum, make contact.

They don’t watch, and wait, potentially allowing a suspect to kill his victim.

There have been far too many cases where they have done so, and they have paid a heavy price for it.

Fortunately, they have adapted.

Annihilation is annihilation, premeditated or otherwise. That family is shattered. Two of them are already shot dead in their own homes and child/teen kidnapped. That to me is annihilation of a family.
Yes, but my point is that I think it matters in terms of the investigation whether he intended to kill the parents or just intended to abduct Jayme. I understand that if Jayme is killed it is a family annihilation. But if they discover that someone had a grudge against the family, it may help to find the suspect. If they cannot find anything that points to this, they can narrow it down to looking for a child predator or someone who is a sex offender. In my opinion, it is significant in the investigation to look at these things. I can't imagine LE just assuming this was an intended family annihilation and just looking for a suspect that would have a reason to do this. They are going to explore all options, imo.

I’ll respectfully agree to disagree. Each circumstance is unique. They also could know who the suspect is, but not where they are. Releasing their name would put Jayme in even more danger.

That sentence stood out to me.....because when I saw Mr Closs's photo my first thought was that he looked like a strong man who worked out and was in good shape. He probably was not a man who could be easily overpowered in a close fight.
An intruder with a gun would certainly have the advantage though....

Especially one who shot him through the door...

Let's hope he actually is a local. Killing her and dumping her now might be far riskier than just keeping her. Which would mean there's still hope.
IMO, if a local is keeping her in the area and if she is still alive and held by him in some location, each day would make it more and more likely that he/they will be caught. Further, I hope the people of that town are watching folks to see if someone around them is deviating from his schedule or usual routine somehow, as LE asked early on in this case -- late to work or early to leave work, more nervous than usual, leaving at lunch or break time, not bringing his lunch, not as talkative as usual, withdrawn or keeping to himself more than usual, buying food or other items that he has never bought before, etc. Small things like that could indicate a change in something in his life. It would take someone who knew this person fairly well to have a valid judgement on this type thing.

How many people in the county of 45,000 people are actually going to be there? What about all of those tens of thousands that can't get to it? (Let alone try to fit 45,000 people into the building.)
How are those people going to learn what was asked, what information was shared, etc. unless something like the media, oh heck, the media reports it and spreads that information so everyone has the opportunity to learn it instead of the few hundred, maybe 1000 at most that would fit in the town hall?

So instead of all of the county residents having a chance to hear things first hand, get the same questions they have, answered, only a few hundred or a thousand will get to do so. This is why we have the media because they can get that information to a wider audience.

<modsnip - LE comment>.

I don't agree <modsnip - references snipped portion of quoted post>. I think he was being considerate. The locals are the ones who feel at most risk and are the most affected, emotionally at this point.

They can do another presser to reach the other people that you are speaking of, imo.

I never realized how many 13 year old girls go missing. I typed in ‘missing 13 year old’ looking for information on this girl, and this has to be the prime age for sex trafficking young girls? There are tons of missing 13 year olds.
Almost all of them return home fine. The number is over 99%.
